" I detest having to wear a 'mask of mockery.' But if it's for my survival... so be it. "

Lukyan is an original character made for the game Genshin Impact. A Cryo Polearm user originally hailing from Sneznhaya, he stands in the higher ranks of the diplomats known as The Fatui.

Beneath the Harbingers lies the rank of a Herald; the leiutenants of the Harbingers. Lukyan has found himself, fortunately or unfortunately, at the top rank of the lieutenants. His time is spent taking assignments with different Harbingers around Teyvat to carry on their orders.

◇ Personality ◇

Lukyan has a rather antisocial and irritable personality. He finds it rather hard, and actually bothersome to try and befriend anyone considering his ranks among the Fatui. In fact, he couldn't care less about really anything. In his mind, his only goal is to stay in his line of work for his own survival. If even one thing gets in his way, he's quick to be snappy and grows rather annoyed pretty quick so it's safe to say that really no one would want to get along with him anyway. It might be sad and lonesome, but he's fine with that.

◇ Story ◇

Overview Born in the ever-cold nation Snezhnaya to a struggling family, Lukyan had it nowhere near easy. All he had were parents and a younger sister, and seemingly his parents were barely even able to financially sustain themselves. In search of young recruits, the Fatui found their way to Lukyan's family. It was seemingly immoral, but the Fatui offered a great amount of money to Lukyan's parents to take their children and recruit them. Lukyan's parents knew probably what they would endure coming into the Fatui so early, but both kids were too young to grasp the concept.

When Lukyan and Inessa arrived to be taken under Arlecchino's wing and to the orphanage, Home of the Hearth, little Lukyan was once maybe a little excited to be welcomed by Arlecchino. Inessa, however, was not a fan. The Fatui was terrifying to her, and she wanted out. It was out of Lukyan's grasp that she ended up escaping, and he was ordered not to go after her or else he would find himself in trouble. He was left behind and unknowingly endured bad treatment by the orphanage workers in care of him. He was young, only 6 years old, and being deployed on Fatui missions. He was too frail and rather helpless, so he always dragged missions down into typical failure. He would be punished for it, often by not being fed or by physical contact which would leave bruises scattered on him. He'd hoped Arlecchino would have his back, but the caretakers would always cover it up by saying it was his own fault he got hurt during the missions. Arlecchino did feel pity for Lukyan, but because she never had any proof that it was her workers' doings, she instead would turn a blind eye and call him too weak.

Luckily, he had one saving grace through this period of his youth, and that was when he met an underling of Harbinger Pantalone, his "son" Sakharin. The boy was curious about Lukyan, and an oddly kind little boy for being a seemingly spoiled kid in the Fatui. Having noticed just how hungry Lukyan was going and the bruises covering his body, Sakharin started taking extra food with him just in case he got to run into Lukyan along the way. Lukyan was very thankful for it, however being so shy back then, he didn't really know how to properly say thank you to him. The last time he ever saw Sakharin was upon getting in trouble for having met up with the little guy behind Arlecchino's back. Sakharin was unaffected, and at the time was taking a leave to Sumeru as Arlecchino made the decision she would send Lukyan under Dottore's wing at about 8 or 9 years old.

It took a turn for the worse when he was moved under Il Dottore. Because Lukyan was considered frail and weak, it was with the intention that he would be experimented on in order to make him stronger. The rather sick experiments seemed to have worked, for Lukyan was beginning to gain extra power with his newly earned Cryo vision, and was even given a Hydro Delusion by Dottore.

A NEW STAR APPROACHES Lukyan's first appearance is alongside Tartaglia once the traveler has reached Liyue. The first thing he says was a remark toward Tartaglia for having jumped into battle to protect the traveler, commenting on Tartaglia's talent for causing too much of a scene in such a public place. Showing that he's aggravated having to follow Tartaglia everywhere, the traveler takes note on how Lukyan always seems to be displeased to be in their presence alone, only proving for the traveler to dislike having to be around Lukyan. Lukyan's next own major involvement was guarding Tartaglia as he goes in pursuit of Exuvia's corpse. His fight is with Hualing at first up until the traveler steps in and helps the young woman take Lukyan down. He's angered that he was defeated in an unfair fight, but left the fight to Tartaglia with full trust that he would be able to finish the battle himself.

OMNIPRESENCE OVER MORTALS Lukyan is seen briefly during the final part of the archon quest making his way for Tenshukaku in order to meet with La Signora as he was ordered to do. He arrives there moments too late, as he sees an anxiety stricken traveler comes trudging out of Tenshukaku. Lukyan was confused as to why the traveler was simply walking away from where Signora was supposed to be like the man was anticipating, but all he decides to do is hide from the traveler and witness the lineup of the Resistance out front of Tenshukaku. In an off screen moment, Lukyan learns of La Signora's untimely death by the hands of the Shogun and can't help but wonder if this was planned or not.

THE MORN A THOUSAND ROSES BRINGS Not much is going on for Lukyan here, other than his third appearance alongside Il Dottore and La Fayette. Even with his dislike toward the Doctor and what has personally happened between them, Lukyan and Fayette are there to assist both the Doctor and the Akademiya in the creation of a new, mechanic god.

◇ In Game ◇

45.png Spear of Frost Normal Attack

Normal Attack: Performs up to 6 consecutive spear strikes.

Charged Attack: Consumes a certain amount of Stamina to lunge forward, dealing damage to opponents along the way.

Plunging Attack: Plunges from mid-air to strike the ground below, damaging opponents along the path and dealing AoE DMG upon impact.

45.png Pinpoint Shards Elemental Skill

Upon stomping the ground beneath him, Lukyan summons a trail of ice spikes that rise from the ground and toward the target. Once it reaches the target, it deals  Cryo DMG on the target. The skill cooldown is 8s.

45.png Everwinter Gale Elemental Burst

Lukyan's polearm splits into shards of ice as he jumps up high in the air, launching the shards at his targets. The shards of ice create the effect of a blizzard and spiral around in an AoE of slashing  Cryo DMG at enemies within it's AoE. The duration is 9s, and the cooldown is 16s.

Permafrost
  • After the duration of Everwinter Gale's slashing has ended, a heavy icy fog remains in the air around enemies. Any enemies within the fog will gradually lose HP based on Lukyan's own max HP.
  • The icy fog will also have a light slowing effect on the movement of enemies within.

45.png Undeterred by Defeat 1st Ascension Passive

When Lukyan's attacks are interrupted by taking damage from an opponent, there is a 45% chance to split the cooldown of both Pinpoint Shards and Everwinter Gale to half the time.

45.png War Lust 4th Ascension Passive

When Lukyan lands a crit attack, his Attack stat is raised by 20%. This can only occur every 25s.

45.png Leporis Heritage Utility Passive

When Lukyan is on the field, Lukyan gains a small jump boost when he reaches a climbable area.

EARS BEING TOUCHED He hates too much attention being brought to his bunny ears, so seriously, don't even think about touching them.

CARROTS Pretty ironic, isn't it? He just hates the flavor.

HOT WEATHER His skin has become so used to cold, icy air and his body so used to layers of clothing on.

◇ Trivia ◇
  • Lukyan is a name that means "light".

  • Lukyan's constellation, Semper Gelum, roughly translates to "ever frost" in Latin.

  • Lukyan has traits from a species by the name of "Leporis," a simple species where humans inherit rabbit traits. He's inherited rabbit ears and a tail.

  • He possesses a Hydro delusion, it's very rarely does he ever find the need to actually use it in battle.

  • He hates when people call him by his full name, being that the last name was given to him by Arlecchino. People still even refer to it as "Snezhevna," which is supposed to be the feminine version of his last name.

  • Lukyan earned his spot as the top Herald because of the taxing experiments made on his body in order to make him stronger.

◇ Relationships ◇

Tartaglia Rival/Love Interest

Lukyan found Tartaglia to be god-awful annoying when he first joined the ranks. Lukyan would never admit how jealous he was at Tartaglia's fast climb of the ranks, and it only ever meant that Lukyan felt the need to be vindictive toward him. It increased tenfold when Lukyan had to be assigned as Tartaglia's lieutenant to be sent to Liyue.

Sakharin Friend/Love Interest

The first person that Lukyan ever truly let close to him, even if it wasn't intentional. Their paths first crossed when they were kids, Sakharin would pass by Lukyan who was always sat alone somewhere, no one to talk to and evidently looking like he might have been starving. Sakharin's kindness was appreciated, but he was taken away from his one saving grace when he was moved to Il Dottore's care. When they had the chance to reunite, they had already grown into young men, but the only thing on Lukyan's mind was at first to treat Sakharin like a piece of trash like every one else he had to face in that place. The other man may have been taken aback by this, but this didn't stop his persistence. Read more about them TarKyaRin ❤

Vezna Zakharovna Friend

Lukyan heard about a young girl at an extreme being among the military ranks, Vezna, when he was first brought into the Fatui. Learning that she was born into the Fatui and already within harsh training, perhaps little Lukyan feared the girl just a little. They didn't really talk, as he was only ever able to see her in the distance but even then he would cower in fear just at the mere sight of her. Lukyan gets to meet Vezna fully when his friend, Sakharin, brings him to her. He vaguely remembers who she is, but no longer fears her after his growth, meaning he was able to step to her level.

Il Dottore Commander

Lukyan has a complicated relationship with the Doctor. He resents him for what he put him through, all those experiments on his frail body he had to endure just because he was powerless and helpless. Believe it or not, Lukyan finds Dottore's human experimentation hard to stomach, and chooses to not speak on it regardless of the circumstances. There is only one thing he can find himself standing the Second Harbinger for, and that is the small assist he gave Lukyan in his transition.

Lord Arlecchino Guardian/Commander

Although Lukyan was taken into her care within the House of Hearth, Arlecchino has shown that she had little regards for Lukyan within her orphanage. He has a negative opinion on her as she's been feigning innocence and politeness since he was young, he generally just dislikes her. Seeing as Tartaglia mentions that her loyalty is faulty toward the Tsaritsa, Lukyan has certainly kept a watchful eye on her, but honestly would be glad if she had punishment coming for her were she ever to betray the Tsaritsa.

Larisa Burnasheva Sister Figure

Lukyan swore he was going to kill whoever sent him onto babysitting duty, no less when he finds out they were a product of Dottore's, only further disgusting him. At first, Lukyan feels very awkward around the rather jumpy and frightful girl, but after getting to bond with her, he lets himself grow more fond. She seeks comfort in him, especially because of his rabbit features reminding her of a stuffed animal, much to Lukyan's dislike. Regardless, he has found himself perhaps wanting to return to her and her siblings once in a while — the charm crafted by Larisa herself as a gift for Lukyan to express her comfort for him being his reminder to remain safe when in battle so he can see her once again.

Inessa Drozdova Sister

Inessa and Lukyan were fairly close when they were kids. Lukyan tried his best to protect his little sister when they were sold into the Fatui, however, she escaped and ran far from there. Lukyan placed resentment and blame on her for it, leaving no room for a peaceful reunion after he hears that she was assisting the Sixth Harbinger, Scaramouche.
