Coalition of Reality
Fragments > Coalition of Reality
The Coalition of Reality: an enormous organization, dedicated to preserving Timelines, cataloguing them, protecting mortals, and attempting to regulate an otherwise lawless land. Headed by the Overseers - an elite group who chooses new inductees rarely - Fragments who join are sorted into one of four divisions, each suited to a particular set of talents.
Though not without its imperfections, the COR diligently pursues the preservation of reality and has done so for ages, being the oldest Fragment organization in the known world. Its archives are immense, stored in Headquarters: a magical, enormous non-Euclidean structure, with magical hallways that lead visitors and residents to wherever they need to be in a manner of footsteps.
Administration
The COR is headed by its leaders, the Overseers - who often manage discrete parts of the coalition and serve as stalwart authorities. Overseers serve for life unless they choose to retire, and much weight must be placed on the decision to grant another Overseer title - more than a simple majority vote of the current group. Though highly respected and in a coveted position within the COR, many outsiders see them as needless busybodies.
Mag Researchers
A small, minor branch of the COR that specializes in archiving information about and studying known information regarding the Magnitude Fragments, seen as deities and allies to the COR. As they are elusive, private, and rarely directly contact Fragments, this information is highly-sought after, and the Researchers have the largest and most well-kept generalist collection.
Most of their work involves interviewing Blessed Frags, meticulously sorting the archives, occasionally contacting the more friendly Mags, and fielding questions from any visitors. Very rarely, the archive is threatened by those who wish to steal its information or resources, though such attacks became less frequent after the COR decriminalized Mag cults worship.
Rest & Reformation
Essentially the crisis unit, which only truly mobilizes when a Timeline is in severe danger, near collapse, or embroiled in Frag conflicts. As these events are rare, their time is usually spent instead managing the books of the COR - recording Timelines, notable incidents, and sorting any related documentation.
It is a relatively small division, primarily made up of Frags who lack Timelines (or have left them) and live at the COR full-time. Though the work is not always the most engaging, its essential nature to the COR's function and neat records is enough for most of its employees.
Rest & Reformation > Assistants
A subset of Rest & Reformation are the unofficial Overseer assistants, who are selected by an Overseer and handle errands, administrative work, occasional meetings, and serve as a less-intimidating ambassador for them to other Frags.
Rescue & Recover
A caretaking division, dedicated to the rehabilitation of Frags - traumatized by anything. Though originally formed to help Frags harmed by a Timeline's destruction (usually the loss of their own) it expanded over the years to include any Frag who felt overwhelmed by the stress of their positions. Primarily a mental health facility, employing therapists and psychiatrists, it also has a minor medical division. As Frags can heal most of their wounds themselves - their bodies more of a parlor trick than anything else - there is not always need for a true medic.
Research & Remove
The largest division, Research & Remove represents the COR's major operatives - those that protect the COR as a military, lead excursions into voidspace to discover new Timelines, collect rare and dangerous artifacts from within Timelines, hunt down known hazards and criminals, and study the intricacies of all the aforementioned so that the COR may better contain them. It is well-known for its rowdy and uncontrollable members.
Research & Remove > The Militia
Within Research & Remove, the Militia serves as the COR's muscle and strength, providing weight behind its laws and centralizing it as a force outsider Frags must reckon with. Though not a technical subdivision, there is certainly a divide between the "researchers" and the "removers" within the overall division.
Regulate & Refine
A catch-all division, Regulate & Refine is the overarching classification assigned to Fragments who still live within their own Timelines and watch over them. Any Frag who does not directly work for the COR, but is affiliated with the COR and under its protection technically belong to Regulate & Refine. When things go awry in their Timelines, they can contact the COR to request assistance or support.
The Sanctum
Nestled deep into Headquarters, where only a few can reach and even fewer let inside lies the Sanctum, a pocket dimension with only one exit and entrance. Within are the Overseer's private quarters and a plethora of Frags - usually saddled with strange and desirable magicks or under threat from outside forces. Here, they are safe, their vulnerability no longer a threat under the magic of its creator, Profiterole.
But the Sanctum also serves another purpose - to keep a close eye on those the COR considers dangerous, deeply restricted and keep as prisoners in all but name.
Affiliated
Groups and individuals who work closely to the COR, are honorary members, or provide out-of-house services to the Coalition. In return, they are given access to the COR's resources and protection, able to call upon the organization for security, goods, and advice. This mutually-beneficial partnership, however, is rare - most who want to work alongside the COR simply join it, rather than exist in perpetual limbo. Still, there are a few.
To those that oppose the COR's outreach, the affiliated are nothing more than backstabbing lapdogs. But to the affiliated, they walk a thin line - between utter subservience to the Frag hegemon and coveted independence.
