Noctyrne's Links
"You did well yesterday, Tenshi. If you win me a lot of money today, I'll treat you to some nice upgrades."
He knows of the Reaper's power to see the bindings between souls. He knows Nerev cannot speak of them. But she's made known her thoughts before, told him in riddles and implications the things he himself can feel in his heart. It would be easier to hate Nerev, but how can he? Really, he hates himself.
It's not like they would've been close, even if Nerev hadn't stuck their nose where it wasn't wanted. They find peace with that knowledge. Preene's an unfortunate sort. There's a broken ribbon trailing behind him, one that shows no evidence of ever being tied to another, but he clings to it anyway. Meanwhile, the crimson ribbon tethering him to Lubel frays and fades, drawn too taut around Preene's own fingers. Nerev just told him what he already knew, in their own words. It's not their fault Preene didn't want to stomach the truth.
Daithi's definitely a unique one. It's been peculiar to watch a changeling grow up, especially one that leans so heavily into his fae heritage, but it's also been fascinating. ...Oh, who is he kidding? Daithi's a sweetheart and Nicholas adores him.
Mr. Briar is an important friend. Daithi likes when he comes to visit. It's always exciting!
Nicholas doesn't make a huge habit of befriending old clients, but Eilis is a special case. Her relationship with the local fae, not to mention her own child, is fascinating. Plus, you don't ditch Eilis once she decides you're a friend. And he does SO come around just to visit!
Forever indebted to him for what he's done for her. Eilis regards Nicholas as a friend, but also something of a bad omen. In her words, he never just comes around for a visit. There's always something sinister going on.
An annoying fellow she can't help being a little bit fond of. He's been very helpful here and there, so she doesn't mind when he comes around.
Though he only ever knew of Eilis in passing in her childhood, he's taken to bothering her quite a lot since she became Daithi's mother. He likes her well enough, but hates that she's great at tricking him.
He's one of the easier residents of the Forest to deal with and despite her best efforts, she's come to consider him a friend.
In his cautious estimation, they're friends.
Once upon a time, a young girl cried tears of rage beside a river. The water caught her tears and tasted her fury, as well as the blood still dripping from her right eye. And the river spoke, in the voice of a passing spirit with a heart too big and kind for such a cruel world. That is how Naoaki and Ame met.
Once upon a time, a being of water and soul travelled the world, longing for purpose. He met many people along his way, some kind and some cruel, but never stayed beside them for long. As he drifted along as the water of a river, he passed a strange soul on the bank. One who cried like a furious storm and shed blood from beneath a crude bandage. His heart ached for them, who was clearly in pain, and he rose from the water to offer his aid. That is how he met Ame.
