Canis Yorks
"You really think you can make it here?"
While they are one of many groups in the city, the Canis Yorks are one of a kind. Not much is known about the history of the Canis Yorks, as those who remember it have either died or faded off into obscurity. They are not one to start needless fights, but if angered, the members will fight to their deaths. As such, their danger level is in the medium range. The Yorks are in high standing with others and are close with Quest's Gang. They do not frequently have new members that last long, as while it may seem like a paradise at first glance, there is a strange foreboding feeling attached to the Canis Yorks. Members, while friendly, do not talk freely among themselves about the group and the rules. Hepling, Boulder, and Bulwrinkle has a tight grasp on the necks of those he has accepted inside his ranks, and dogs who speak against him will pay dearly. This group follows a goddess by the name of Leora, who Hepling is said to speak with. Those who speak against Leora find themselves in bad luck and soon become an outcast in the group. That is, if they don't mysteriously disappear...
The Canis Yorks follow a strict hierarchy system, and members must follow certain rules to stay in the group. For example, Hepling is actually Supreme Canis Hepling, and Mandarin is Brave Canis Mandarin. A list of these titles can be found in the tabs below, along with the rules and an explanation of the hierarchy system.
Supreme
The Supreme is the highest rank. This belongs solely to Hepling, the leader of the Canis Yorks. The responsibility of the Supreme is to lead the pack throughout the thick and thin. The Supreme has the final say on rules, punishments, new arrivals, and battles. Behind the scenes, the Supreme also communicates with Leora to gain wisdom in leading the pack.
Executive
Next up is the Executive. They are the right-hand-man to the Supreme. Boulder holds this rank. This role has the responsibility of enforcing rules, going on patrols, arranging scavenging parties, and keeping the borders strong. They are another pair of ears for the Supreme and will alert them if they hear any talk of disapproval or a revolution in the pack.
Diplomat
The Diplomat comes next, and is held by Bulwrinkle. Their responsibility includes holding speeches to gain support for Hepling, relaying new rules and regulations, and keeping the common folk under control. The Diplomat is also used as a shield for the Supreme and Executive to hide behind: since the Diplomat is the one to announce new rules, anger is typically directed at them instead of the real forces behind it.
---------------------------------------------------
Nurser
This rank is reserved for dogs who are pregnant, currently nursing pups, or are assistants who help with the birthing process or in the raising of pups. Becoming a nurser is a very honorable role, and they get the first pick of food. Hurting a nurser is punished with death.
Brave
Braves make up the largest portion of the Canis Yorks. This category is for the regular member of the pack. They are responsible for checking borders, defending the pack, warning the pack of threats, scavenging for food, and any other responsibilities that the Supreme may add. All capable members of the Canis Yorks can become Braves.
Pup
As the name implies, anyone who is unable to defend themselves is titled as a Pup. Once a Pup is old enough to begin training, typically at 1.5 to 3 months old. Their first month of training is strictly in the camp of the Canis Yorks, after that they are allowed to leave the camp with their trainer. Throughout their training they will still have the role of Pup, and only when the Supreme accepts them, they will be known as a Brave.
---------------------------------------------------
Underling
Last (and most certainly least) are the Underlings. This is reserved for traitors, prisoners of war, and those awaiting trial by the Supreme. At most points there are no Underlings, as they are quickly dealt with and not let to remain in the Canis Yorks for long. The threat of becoming an Underling is a real and valid fear for Braves who get on the bad side of the leaders. A semi-common punishment is to become an Underling for two days, as a warning of what could await them in the future.
1) The name of Hepling’s group is the Canis York, and members must always follow the naming system to signify their allegiance to the group.
2) All official members of the Canis York have that word, Canis, before their name. This signifies that they are loyal to Hepling. Their name also includes their title. You must always call others by their full title, such as Brave Canis Mandarin or Diplomat Canis Bolder. Failing to do this is seen as disloyalty.
3)There is a strict hierarchy in the Canis Yorks. Failing to respect the rules of your role will result in punishment or becoming an Underling.
4) Never question Hepling or his advisors. You must show respect to those in higher ranks. If a higher rank is talking, you do not interrupt or backtalk. If they are walking behind you, get off the path and dip your head to let them pass.
5) All new arrivals must comply by these rules and pass a trial to be given a proper Canis York name.
6) Do not use Leora's name in vain. She is the ultimate being, and any disbelief of her powers will result in swift punishment.
7) Every New Moon, the three authorities in the Canis Yorks convine and partake in a ritual to the goddess Leora. Following the ritual there will be a feast. All members are required to partake in it.

The Ruined
"Crossing us will be the last thing you ever do."
Quest's gang is one of the most ferocious in town. Feared by many, they are known for their no-shits-taken attitude and pride. They have ties and allegiances with many other gangs in the city, and can take down anyone standing in their way. A force to be reckoned with- do NOT get on their bad side.

A ragtag group of bounty hunters.
Animals living on Harper's Oaks, a farm cared for by a small family. The farmers are very kind and let the animals stay as long as they help out. Cats are responsible for hunting mice and dogs for protecting livestock. Anyone causing trouble will quickly be shown the door. They are allowed to live in one of the barns, and in winter the farmer puts out extra food for them.
Those part of the Matriarchate. This gang is one giant family system. There are five females known as the Matriarchs who are responsible for decision-making and bearing pups. There are three fathering dogs who are mates with the leaders, but they are also free to bear the pups of those outside of the group. In the latter situation, the father would have no say in the lives of the pups and they will be raised among the Matriarchate. Dogs in this pack are free to have mates that are outside of the group, but they must have the blessing of the matriarchs. Everyone is related to the five matriarchs (aside from their mates of course), making them one big intertwined family. If a matriarch must step down, they will notify the pack two weeks prior. Any female who wishes to become a matriarch must have a mate or find one in those two weeks. At the end of the time period, the couples will stand before the Matriarchate and be judged until only one pair is left.
