a clan that lives in a graveyard and the dark forests surrounding
They are regarded as odd by the other clans of the area, and feared for their 'eerie' demeanors (Despite the fact they're no more harmful than any other clan, if anything they're only wise and better off for having been left alone by others of the area.)
they are said to be able to see and speak with spirits, including the spirits of starclan.
most other clans think they're loony, but they also seem to know information no one else does.
About
Gladeclan is a new clan built of outcasts, and only recently has become known to/in touch with the other four clans, at the moment they have no specific enemies, though the other clans are wary of these strange outsiders now in their midst
Gladeclan is generally very friendly, and welcoming to those who have no where else to go. However, they can get fiercely territorial when threatened, and won't back down from any fight with ease. Most of the cats within this clan are strong, heavy built soldiers, who can pack a nasty punch. They won't be winning any speed contests anytime soon, but constant swimming, trudging through mud, and climbing thick rocks and tree roots make them muscled cats that will deal some significant harm if they can get a hit on their opponents. As a result they prefer claw-based attacks or pinning/wrestling attackers. They have a bit of an odd accent, and many of their group habits would seem strange to other clans. They cover themselves in mud to blend in, are most active in the early evening hours (to avoid the hot, humid daytime hours during the damp summers); have no aversion to swimming, along with being rather 'jolly'. They are generally really cheery and overly friendly, and are often very thick skinned. Most cats in the clan have great senses of humor as well. However, if you do anger or offend them, they can hold a strong grudge and be slow to forgive (though they can be forgiving with patience and honesty). They have a high respect for those who are earnest and loyal to whats important to them, even if it conflicts with Gladeclan itself. (Ex, they might not appreciate intruders on their territory, but if the outsider is doing so for the sake of their family or because they are loyal- they are liable to respect that loyalty and be more understanding). They also have a high respect for bravery and courage, and enjoy telling (occasionally) exaggerated tales of heroism for fun.
Traditions
One of gladeclans traditions is the Mudswim. This is an important point for the young cats of the group, as its essentially the first time they learn to swim in the marsh and get their fur dirty taking their first steps into being warriors and learning to hunt in the territory they call their home. There is a pool of shallow water at the base of their camp's cliffs that is safe- just deep enough to swim for a few dozen feet, though very murky and muddy and most cats come out on the other side covered in muck. The swim is jokingly referred to as the moment where a cat truly joins Gladeclan. If an apprentice can't make the swim, the other warriors carry them back and let them practice to try again later.
Reputation
Gladeclan is little known by most clans, given their geographical isolation. Most in the nearby area regard them as strange, wondering why they would live in a place full of water and such dangerous creatures. They're often regarded as dangerous and something of legend. Many are unsure if they truly exist at all, or joke about the clan being created to scare nosy kits who want to explore the dangers of the swamps.
Territory
Gladeclan's territory is nestled in a valley thick with bracken. Due to its low-lying position it's become a swampy mess populated by fish, birds, insects- and other animals. Due to the sheltered location of the valley, cats of Gladeclan don't suffer many threats from predators or other clans, but due to a waterway that traverses to a larger marshland outside of the valley, they are occasionally accosted by alligators which pose extremely dangerous intruders. During this time, the cats will heavily avoid fishing in favor of land-based prey until the threat moves on or unless it can be heavily avoided.
Their territory is mostly made up of wetlands, and because of this it's quickly necessary for all cats within the clan to learn to swim, fish, and climb effectively over tree roots and slippery rocks. Since the drab coloring makes lighter cats stand out, most cats with lighter colored fur like to roll in mud to disguise themselves against the bland greens and browns of the wetlands. Flooding during rainy seasons is a high danger, and as a result the clan has situated its camp on a pleateu slightly higher up on the valley, where they are generally safe from most flood waters. Their clan rests in a large cavern broken up into smaller ones, where they have filled it with mosses and other greenery for comfort. A small freshwater waterfall lies at the base of the natural ramp leading to the pleateu, serving as their main source of water, since the normal swampwater is too brackish and rather unsavory to drink unless in a pinch.
Though winter is mild, it is easily the most relaxed season of the year for Gladeclan-opposed to other clans. The winter cold kills off a large amount of the underbrush, making wildlife easier to see, and any local alligators will go dormant or sleep through most of it, allowing them safety. Fish go dormant, often hiding in the mud, and so Gladeclan has learned over trial and error how to dig them up. It is slightly more tedious than normal fishing or hunting, but at least they will do it in relative safety. The largest winter threat is the danger of inexperienced cats falling in the water and freezing to death, or starving predators encroaching on their land.
Due to their territorial isolation, Gladeclan has developed some odd mannerisms, accents, and habits that consistantly make them stand out whenever they do have sparse interactions with other clans. They aren't outwardly aggressive, but do not like outsiders.
Due to the fact that their valley has rather steep sides, the main entrances are on both ends of the valley's course. Most of their patrols involve watching for gators or other natural intruders, and checking the narrow entrances for any scents of unknown cats.
About
They are often viewed currently as the most peaceful clan, choosing not to engage in the squabbles of the other clans. As such- the others also leave them alone. Primarily, because no one wants the bleak territory of Silentclan anyways. The cats are grateful for this because it means their resources can be used to focus on hunting and surviving instead. Some very bad leaders have taken control in the history of this clan that have caused an immense amount of trouble and aggression between the clans.
Murkstar rose to power after defeating and exiling the previous leader, being too fast for him to get a hit in, and has since led his clan peacefully and with respect to the other leaders. He's well liked and many fear who will replace him when his last few lives run out or he retires to life as an elder.
They are known for being a slow growing clan as kits are few and far between. There are many years in the past that they came very close to dying out entirely.
