When a cool character catches my eye on Toyhouse, I like to go to their page, read about them, and see their galleries. I'm also curious about that character's story. If they're part of a larger narrative, what's it about, and what's their role in it?

That made me reflect on the way my characters are organized. Right now, I have my OCs separated into folders based on their species: Anthro, Creature, Ghost and Human. This makes it easy for me to navigate the folders to find the character I want. But it doesn't give me a lot of room to describe how these characters all tie together (though I do have a piece in my Library for the Offsprings, I dunno how many people make the step to navigate to it). If the characters were organized by story, would that make learning about them more accessible to visitors?

Then again, this is MY account, and I'm the one who navigates it on a regular basis for forum games and the like. If it works for me, that should be the end of this discussion.

Still, I'm curious what you guys think! When you're looking at a character on Toyhouse, do you want to know more about the story they're part of?

And let me know how you guys organize your folders, and why!

I for one really like reading character stories and how they tie into each other :)

Good to know! Thanks for sharing.

I do want to know about character's stories! I try to write little summaries about everyone's story, but I often end up writing a super long thing, or alternatively nothing at all... Oops.... But yes, to answer your question, I do want to know about characters' stories and the narratives they are a part of, and so on!

I have organized my folders based on stories/worlds/etc. instead of species, because it's easier for me in my head. Keeps everything that's part of the same setting neatly packed!! And also allows me to give at least a little bit of insight on the general vibe of their world. But this organizing is mostly based on my own desires, not beause I'd gotten any feedback on what would actually work best.

Thanks for sharing Gomis!

Here's a question for you - do you think adding some kind of widget/toggleable paragraph to a character's page, to describe the overarching story they're in and links to where you can learn more about it, would be helpful to you as a person interested in learning about characters' stories?

Np!

Oh, it defenitely would! Usually if I find an interesting character on toyhouse and if there are not links in the character's profile I will go to the person's characters to see if there is a folder for the story, but it would be even more helpful to have something in the character profile itself!

Good to hear! I'm gonna mull on that idea for a bit, but it seems like it could be a good compromise with the way I have things structured atm.

Yeah, it could defenitely work! :3 I'm happy I could help!
