wishing luck and cool vibes to any of you also stuck under the heat dome these past few days. today is gonna be the hottest ahh. my poor hamster is not doing well already. im not worried about myself, but my little winnie is not meant for this kind of weather D: i dont have ac in my place and its hot all year round in my stuffy apartment. i dunno how to help her ahh. ive been putting items in the freezer that she uses, and then alternating them out. giving her watery foods and doing my best to keep her cool, but its not looking like enough yet.
i think if things get any worse imma have to fill a bathtub full of cold water and maybe put her bin cage in there so that its surrounded by cold water. i dunno how this is gonna fair. she wont be wet but i also dont wanna shock her with cold and hot all at once
man, having small animals is a stress and a half
Poor hammie, I really hope this summer isn't too brutal. Hopefully you can do what others have already suggested and keep her cooled down and comfy! <3

I don't know much about hamsters, but for rabbits when it's hot outside you can freeze a water bottle or freeze one of those ceramic tiles you can get as samples so they can lay on them. I wonder if getting a cloth or something wet and blowing a fan on it in her direction could also help. I hope your hamster does ok!

yes~ thats what ive been trying to do. i have a bunch of ceramic plates and stuff that ive been freezing, but they heat up sooo fast in my apartment. its a constant trip back and forth to the freezer and alternating items. ugh

honestly, thats the plan! I even went to the store to grab more ice packs in hope that i can strategically place them around the cage without her nibbling on them. i doubt the blue stuff is good for hamsters ahah
she thinks im the badguy for continuing to pester her while she sleeps. ugh, no gratitude for my stress

thanks elegy~ shes a silly goose, every time i try to give her some place cool to sleep or rest in, she leaves the area and goes and sweats in the corner. "im tryna help ya girlll what you doin!"
