Do you like fanfiction?

I personally love fanfiction and was wondering if anyone else did? What fandoms do you read? Favorite ships? I wanna see what other fanfiction writers and readers are doing! If you write fanfiction, feel free to post it as well!

RadiantRaindragon

I write videogame fanfics, mostly about Mario characters but sometimes other game fandoms as well (including Fire Emblem and Kirby). I'm currently working on a multi-chapter Mario story that's been taking up way too much of my time and attention... I also read a lot, it's a great way to pass the time. I don't exclusively read videogame stories either; my favourites list has all kinds of things in it.

My FanFiction account is at MetaBlade!

I love fanfics! Slow burn 100k+ word angsty hurt/comfort fics are my life. Those 1,000/3,000 word fics are ideal for when insomnia's acting up and I want to read a couple of bits before I try to sleep again. On leave I have more time than I know what to do with so I have committed a disgusting amount of time going through fanfics for Dunkirk, Star Trek TOS/Reboot movies and Star Wars.

I like to headcanon/excessively daydream for fandom but I don't write/draw for it, I only write/draw for OC's. There's also some shows/movies I love enough to headcanon for but they're not things I go out of my way to find fic for various reasons.

aska-ray

i read fanfics sometimes

its either 5k quick oneshots or 100k+ au novels no inbetween

i used to read tons of homestuck fanfics, mostly AUs... my fav fanfic ever is in fact a homestuck AU fic lmao fight me

other series i read fanfics for is: tourabu (bless fanfic authors cuz its not like we get canon material.......), utapri, recently ive gone looking for some granblue stuff but i mean besides LuciSan there's like nothing. everyone in the eng fandom sleeping on the other good pairs smh

i do not write fanfics though... i like writing for my own characters but not so much for others. i love drawing fan art haha.

The only kind of fanfics I read are readerfics if that counts

Yes! Even for fandoms that I otherwise don't interact with anymore. Fanfiction is pure fun for me.

When I first started reading it, I preferred the lengthy slow-burn fics, but now I almost exclusively read things that can be over and done in five chapters or less. There are only a few authors I like enough to stay committed for longer than that.

The ships I like are either the most popular in the fandom or absolutely ridiculous crack. There is no in between. 🤷

(I've also written some, but I wouldn't dare to ever let my fanfiction see the light of day.)

Damn right I do. Currently i've been diving into some Dragonball Z fanfiction as i've rediscovered my love for it and Gundam Wing. However for DBZ i'm not big into ships and there's a lot of bad fanfiction out there to wade through. It doesn't help that the characters I want fanfics of aren't the super popular ones? So I languish in agony.

Gundam Wing i'm a bit safer with trying to find what I want cause i'm not the minority finally but I still desire so much more than what I can find.

garyc0re

i read bully scholarship edition fanfiction... a LOT... usually ones involving gary and specifically ones that are gary/jimmy aka smopkins skskfkcmc

ClyncyeRudje

Yes! Although most of my fandoms are dead, lmao.

I still find good fics though, like an Umineko When They Cry fic I recently picked up; I won't link it because it has spoilers for everything including the end of Chiru, but YOU'RE BACK ON YOUR ASSHOLE GRANDPA'S PRIVATE ISLAND is an extremely good yarn and a very good alternate setup for the gameboard (as it were). It's still ongoing but there's like 40 chapters so far and i've been on the edge of my seat for most of it, it captures the feeling of the original work very well while still being its own thing, which is usually what I want for VN fanfic.

Veeeeery occassionally.  I used to be big time into fanfiction, but my interest kind of died away as I began to participate less in fandoms.

I've tried to get back into reading more, but I'm just not as interested, and I'm really put off by the amount of trash I need to look through to find something decent :'))
I think I'm following...one Steven Universe fanfic right now?  But it's OC-centric lmao and that just shows how much I prefer OCs and stuff haha.  The writer also heavily promotes their fic through their art too, which is how I got interested in it haha.

I used to read a lot of Ace Attorney related fanfiction in the past but I haven't read much since then! Also Hamlet fanfiction and I have written some myself because I like being into niche things, but nowadays I don't really read fanfics at all? It's mostly because I have a bad attention span and I haven't really been into any series as passionately since my old fandoms (that, or my fandoms have little to no ships in the first place)

Kogami

Ngl I never cared for fanfictions at first because I Am Bad At Reading Long Paragraphs Unless Its Printed but I did started off reading Battle B-Daman & Crash B-Daman fanfictions because my friends in those fandom are active in writing them, and I wanted to "support" them by reading it haha. Also because Crash B-Daman is like one of the most obscure fandom on the internet so I just consume every scalp of its content

Later when I was in Kagerou Project fandom, it's the first time where I'm in a fandom where every ships have fics so that was also my first time looking up specific ship fanfics *cough* Haruka x Takane and Konoha x Ene or Shintarou *cough* This was also when FF.net was the only go-to fanfic site...good times, good times. I also started reading Japanese fanfics in Pixiv (using Rikaichan, and a lot of dictionaries) and I'd say it...definitely helped me a LOT in studying Japanese.

Also at some point where Touken Ranbu and Idolish7 was still new and had barely English fics, I continued on frequenting Pixiv fics a lot despite I'm still not the greatest at the language (but hey, again, I memorized a lot of kanji through that haha) but stopped at some point because I no longer have patience to dig through fanfics (in either language)?? Around 2016 which is also why I've stopped reading them lately. I do want to get back at some point to improve my writing skills by observing these fics' writing styles but :^)

(Also funny fact I only know that AO3 exist around 2016?? 2017?? But the...."mature" side of the contents are too much for my grandma brain I'm just a fluff-loving basic)

TL;DR: I tend to read them if my fandom or ships are really lacking in contents (because I generally don't have much patience to read them) or to support my friends; though I should probably get back to read them again when I could, it's been a while...

Hooray for long rambling again

HAii2U

not rlly much nowadays but sometimes ill dig thru x reader fics because yes i AM that bitch

Mercenary_Ike

I read and write all sorts of fanfiction!
