Anyone else an animator?

If so, what kind of animation? 2D or 3D? Frame by frame or rigged? Have you ever animated any of your characters on toyhouse?

Let's talk all things motion!

I've gone to school for 3D animation so I know how to use things like 3DStudio Max and Maya but I prefer 2D honestly. Now I mainly animate doing frame by frame in Krita and then compliling it all in DaVinci Resolve (a program I found literally a week ago and now owe a blood debt to for being Adobe Premiere but free). I really wanna make an animation meme but I'm terrible at finding songs for it

I've lately been beginning to animate a lot more now that I am finding a lot more fun in it! Mostly practice stuff for full pieces but my pixels have been a lot more clean in terms of animating. Used to do more colored stuff that's stored on this "random animations" character.  Mostly just doing it for fun as a hobby though, I am definitely not gonna aim to get a career in this lol- I value my wrists.

Right now i'm focusing mostly on animated pixels as I'm filling in a character bingo board from an art discord i'm in! It's pretty much less work as I can simplify a lot in pixel-art which makes doing things easier, though sometimes CSP exports image sequences weirdly so I'll have to look into that. Still, the pixels have been great practice for getting more efficient at CSP's animation features.

Here's some wips/practice/simple stuff I've made that I was rather happy with too!

yeya I'm glad you enjoyed animating, perhaps you should try again! You might enjoy it just as much.

jollyjumbuck I have immense respect for 3D animators because I can just not get my head around it lol. Glad you found your niche though! (BTW, are you Australian? *pokes username*)

Ske1th nice animations, yo, I love the long necked cat!

It has it's ups and downs, I think the main reason that turns me away from it that a lot of games and shows seem motivated to their content as realistic looking as possible when there's so much more they could be doing with the medium. Into the Spiderverse's overall stylism plus their technique of dropping every other frame to create a comic book feel and Netflix's Willoughbys playing into the children's book feel by having hair be represented by yarn and fire as paper are two examples of CGI movies that know how to make the most out of their medium

Also wow you're the first person to clock the reference

I'm not sure how much I'd consider myself an animator, haha. I want to be one at some point, but currently the only program I have is Flipaclip which is the beginner of beginner programs. I hope to get an actually good program at some point, but that might have to wait until I get a drawing tablet or something.  Anyway, I have an animation channel with the same username which is actually my oldest platform! I've been animating for a really long time and started out with Flipnote (they're all really bad though), but unfortunately my uploads have gotten super sparse as of late. My latest one is literally just a 9 second meme animatic, which was two months ago, and I haven't made any "complete" animations in over a year. Really need to get back in the game at some point, smh. Once again, I just need to find a better program.

I'm aspiring to animate? I'm starting to do thumbnails for something but I've never done it before so I'm not really sure what I'm doing.

Ahhh antiguess congratulations!

Also thanks everyone for sharing your dope animation stories.

Ohh! Yeah! I don't have time to write a lot here but for around 5 or 6 years I have been an animator and I like making animation memes right now. I do plan on moving onto original animations and even animated shows when I'm older^^

This is one of my proudest works, as of currently, quickly followed up by this one

mossyrocks

recently got into the wof fandom and am starting to animate again! (hopefully i'll get to the level of animating music videos)

i don't have any examples of my recent work, but i'm working on a darkstalker head turn!

i do frame-by-frame in 2d; i use krita for both animation and drawing.

Thanks for sharing you three! There's some awesome stuff in there.
