Anyone else an animator?

If so, what kind of animation? 2D or 3D? Frame by frame or rigged? Have you ever animated any of your characters on toyhouse?

Let's talk all things motion!

In 2018 I attempted "animating" for the first time, I can hardly call it animating because it was more like a bunch of poorly drawn pictures playing after eachother. I started off with flipaclip, but not on my phone- oh no no sir. I downloaded bluestack (an app that allows you to download mobile games on a computer) and did everything with a mouse. I made a few of these "animations" and uploaded them to youtube, but people were really harsh which discouraged me and I gave up. And just before I receaved these comments I have started an actual project with animation in it! But I never uploaded it. All of these videos are now lost-

Recenly I just felt like I should give it a another try and so I did! I did those 2 animations who were actually my very first 2 animations https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fFhZdWmukzQ Mind you, they were drawn with a mouse, everything I draw is drawn with a mouse. It was all going smooth and I though I should join a map call, but I chew more then I could bite and made this disgusting thing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2kw6Z4aWJE . It really discouraged me because nothign turned out how I wanted it to and now I just don't feel like trying again because I don't feel confident enough to try again- I mean look at it- it's embarrasing xD

Now I'm considering if I should try again with somthing simple./ as a side question, what program would you reccoment for begginers, firealpaca just messes up the colors when exporting as a gif- and I'm too lazy to export each layer

ThornPuck

MONOUwU they weren't bad at all! I think you have a real natural talent for animating if these were your first things, done with a mouse! The little line test you did was good especially. I myself use toonboom, and I somewhat recommend it - it's a bit expensive for what it is. Opentoonz I haven't tried, but it's free, and it's the same software ghibli uses so... it's gotta be somewhat good, right? If I had a suggestion it would be to get the Animator's Survival Kit - it has all you need to know about the 12 principles of animation which is all you really need to get started.

I am! I'm specifically 2d cut/rigged animation. though if you give me a 3d model I can animate just as well, I just can't light it in any way that looks competent lmao.

I stopped during 2020 cause of personal issues, but I'm getting back into the swing of things, my older animations are still on my website: https://www.hotsnailstudios.com/animations . They're a little yikes now, considering most were from 2018-2019, but for just starting out at the time, I like them. They were certainly enough for me to graduate.

Xen wow they look great! I love the bug saying 'wellllll'. Yeah, it's interesting how similar 3D and 2D cutout animation is, which is why I suck at both lol.

ThornPuck

Zuluanimations They look great also! I love the canine falling one.

MONOz

ThornPuck Thank you! I'll make sure to try again soon :)

I used to dabble in it, and now I’m getting back into it for a story I’m writing! I want to tell the plot points through animated music videos. I’m very much a musically inspired person, so when I started finding songs that went well with my plot and characters, I was extremely excited! I’m working on an animatic for Panic Room by AU/RA with my character Radar! I haven’t matched it to the music yet. I animate in Procreate, but would you happen to know somewhere I could put the music over it? Tysm!

Example here¥¥¥

Panic Room Animation

ThornPuck I fixed the link

ThornPuck

acid_macaw looks like your example didn't work?

And as far as putting audio to things I know toonboom works, but I've also used premiere pro in the past but both of those are kinda expensive. :(

I actually had gotten back to animating recently, I had gotten better. The most animations I had done are when it was like one year after I have started drawing, they are not that good but I think for that level I was they were fine like here.Back then for animations I was using Medibang and movie maker now I use Krita cause I brought a much better pc that can handle animating on krita ,I do the animation frame by frame not like I used some animations were frame by frame but some weren't before I understood how animating works. I also had done some simple icons for my characters (more recent animations nothing special something simple)I dont have much examples to show since now I started animating and still working on an animation but here the icons anyway

Kind of, yes. I may not do big animation videos but I do animate (quite similar to Punksoda) . I´m into frame-by-frame animation but occasionally also do tweeting. I like both a lot but have done more frame by frame.
