edit: DANGIT I FORGOT THE ABOUT MEE

Tell us something about yourself!: I'm zaten and I'm gay for giant robots, specifically EVA-01. i also like spiders. they are very pog
What inspired you to make comics? How long does a page take you? Have you ever tried making a comic before, or are you still planning?: I had always been planning to make a comic,  but watching Neon Genisis Evangelion finally inspired me to get off my ass and make Pegasus Project! a page can take me anywhere from a few hours to a few days depending on my motivation. i am... still very much planning, it's kind of a "plan as I go along" kind of thing.
Share some of your experiences and tips, ask other people about theirs, start a conversation!: uuuuh definitely don't do what I did and PLAN THINGS OUT. otherwise you just have garble.

RayEnigma

AyoOooOo welcome new person! :eyeshake: (won't double ping you since I already did it in the comic library) enjoy your stay!

And I definitely second the 'plan things out before starting', I did that several times and it did not end well HAHAH

I'd love to try and make my story a comic but I'm not sure if my art is up to par with doing anything I want ;3;

Personally, I love your art style and it'd be great to see you making a comic! If you still don't feel very confident, I can show you one of my old comic panels and how terrible I used to be at art and comic creation. My advice would be to just do it if you have a plot you're sure you are motivated to draw a comic about. If nothing else, it's experience towards your next big project.

I'm just not confident about like, scenery really. I do everything by hand not digital. So it's hard to transfer over into a panel without cutting things off not right colors, etc. I get so frustrated ^^; And I have no real way to take pictures so it's kinda annoying.

It'd help if I had a solid idea, I mean, I've got TONS of ideas, just nothing I can work with as a scenario.

RayEnigma

Slaynoir I do understand your concern about doing comics traditionally -  I did that aswell, I actually carried on? The reason I gave up was story being unfinished, not the medium I used. Despite the struggles, don't let your style limit you - if you will wait for your style to get better, you may never actually start. It's still got to do warm-up sketches when it comes to stuff you're not confident about.

Also, a tip for a traditional artist who makes comics - make them black and white; no need to worry about colours + it can look good with very simple/no backgrounds in some panels, actually! If you can't scan the pictures, I have a trick for it, too -  take a picture of a page, turn saturation to 0, and adjust brightness and contrast to your liking (works pretty good on phones and any device like that tbh)

You have a really nice style, and if you want to make comics, go for it! Even if those would have to be some sillies or mini comics at first.

Thanks for the idea! I've got a test subject in mind, just nor sure how to exactly make it like, how I want it. Or do you happen to know anyone that is looking for a comic artist just for fun? I'd like to flex my skills I just don't know if my art style is err...exactly okay for it? It really doesn't look like typical art xDD I suppose that could be a good thing, but I've got a wacky sense of drawing style. I've always sort of judged my art based on a lot of what I see and just don't know how to feel about it. I want to be good really. I just literally cannot tell if my art looks good or is total trash. Any suggestions on telling the difference and what makes my art note-worthy? I really struggle with finding a reason to put my art into a more creative outlet I guess?

Also, I've about 12 stories. I've one story that's all of ten pages but was initially a joke then got really pops for some reason. Would you take a look and tell me why people like it? I may try to turn it into a test comic, but I don't know what the appeal is. I wrote it just for fun personally.

My Story...is really weird but I really honestly don't know why people like it. Can you help me?

RayEnigma

Slaynoir never let your art level determine what can you do or not - you wil improve over time, and it's nice to see the progress! People have various styles and you don't need to be just like them, be yourself! If you feel like something is off about your style, feel free to experiment, but never let your artstyle stop you from doing stuff you enjoy.

I don't know anyone who's searching for a comic artist, but if you find someone - make sure you get something for doing this, whether it's money, in-game currency or art of your characters, since comics can be exhausting and this should be job done for free - it takes both your time and effort to make something

And about your stories - there's nothing wrong with silly stuff getting some attention and good feedback (unless, er, you don't like it) - sillies are fun to write overall. Although I am bad at helping with story things, I still can give some tips about starting out and stuff, so feel free to hit me up if needed!

(It's 2 am excuse me if I'm talking shit GAJSDHDJHS)

Nah you're good BUT YOU NEED TO SLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP. -bonks-

Anyways, thanks for the advice ^^ I just get myself put down sometimes by me, it is hard to think of myself with a positive ego! But your tips are great, so I'll take heed on that and thanks!!

Zaten

I just remembered this google doc filled with comic resources a friend of mine made for sheezy and I thought it would be suitable here for any one that would like it :>

RayEnigma

Ayoo Zaten thanks, this will definitely help people here!
