This crosses into my mind often after the tablet I've owned for 4 years acts up time by time. So yeah, I'd like to start a survey on what do you do when your tablet acts up!

It's not required to answer these all--
  • What kind of tablet do you currently have?
  • How long do you have your current tablet?
  • Are you happy with what it currently is or are you troubleshooting with it?
  • What are your common problems with your tablet? (aside from losing pen pressure time by time)
For those who changed tablets:
  • What was your first tablet?
  • Why did you change your tablet?
Extra questions:
  • Do you use android charger wires for your tablet?
  • Do you change pen nibs?
You are always free to expand more than these questions, by the way!

  • What kind of tablet do you currently have?
    Huion GT-220 Screen
  • How long do you have your current tablet?
    Not sure, a few years
  • Are you happy with what it currently is or are you troubleshooting with it?
Yes, no problems really? Easy plug-and-go install, easy maintenance. I recommend getting a screen cover to avoid accidentally scratching the surface.
  • What are your common problems with your tablet? (aside from losing pen pressure time by time)
First install of drivers may be tricky but it is usually fixed by removing old, useless drivers that are conflicting.
I tend to forget charging my pen (since it lasts so long), which confuses me when it starts jittering due to low battery.

  • What was your first tablet?
    Huion 610 (x2)
  • Why did you change your tablet?
Well, I accidentally broke my tablet pen in half, and figured I could just buy a backup tablet instead of a new pen (it was about $50 inc shipping)

  • Do you use android charger wires for your tablet?
No, they come with standard usb wires/power cable for the screen.
  • Do you change pen nibs?
I only had to once or twice in 10+ years. I have tons of spares.

What kind of tablet do you currently have?
I have a wacom intuos 2018!

How long do you have your current tablet?
Only for about a month

Are you happy with what it currently is or are you troubleshooting with it?
It's a really nice tablet for what it is! Getting the bluetooth version is worth it, trust me.

What are your common problems with your tablet? (aside from losing pen pressure time by time)
Sometimes input will lag, but I'm not sure if it's a problem with FireAlpaca (I think I need to update it). My previous one came with a faulty bluetooth adapter and the it hated the drivers.

What was your first tablet?
A wacom intuos pro (2016)

Why did you change your tablet?
The part that connected the usb to the rest of the tablet broke off inside.

Do you use android charger wires for your tablet?
I just use the one it came with. My current phone uses usb type c anyway.

Do you change pen nibs?
I press down harder than I probably should, and newer wacom tablets are rougher (and have nibs made to wear easily), so I'll have to soon.

What kind of tablet do you currently have?
Gaomon PD1560

How long do you have your current tablet?
6 months so far

Are you happy with what it currently is or are you troubleshooting with it?
It's very nice for my first screen tablet.

What are your common problems with your tablet? (aside from losing pen pressure time by time)
I do have occasional problems with the monitor calibration at times and I find myself having to reinstall the drivers sometimes because the tablet isn't completely compatible with PTS

What was your first tablet?
Wacom Bamboo Fun

Why did you change your tablet?
Found a slightly better one for super cheap at a garage sale.

Do you use android charger wires for your tablet?
Not on my current tablet, but they work on my others.

Do you change pen nibs?
Very rarely.

AlleycatIrony

What kind of tablet do you currently have?
wacom intuos

How long do you have your current tablet?
i'm not sure? only like two years i think

Are you happy with what it currently is or are you troubleshooting with it?
oh yeah it's a brilliant tablet! i love it so much

What are your common problems with your tablet? (aside from losing pen pressure time by time)
the pressure dies whenever i try to open something in sai that gives me an error, forcing me to restart my computer to get it to work again
i know it says aside from losing pen pressure but this pisses me off and i don't have any other problems 😅

What was your first tablet?
idek what it was? it was some shitty, cheap, ALDI brand tablet

Why did you change your tablet?
it stopped working after like... three months or less? basically what happened is that the whole surface of it lost sensitivity or w/e and i could only draw in this really tiny section of the bottom corner and it never gave me pen pressure - safe to say i felt no regret throwing it out which is odd from someone as materialistic as me

Do you use android charger wires for your tablet?
yeah, just good ol' samsung chargers lmao, they're really cheap and easy to replace

Do you change pen nibs?
i would if i had any! like god they're so unnecessarily expensive! it's like $30 for a refill of tiny plastic rods :/

truelexblue

What kind of tablet do you currently have?

small wacom intuos manga

How long do you have your current tablet?

like 3-4 years i think :0

Are you happy with what it currently is or are you troubleshooting with it?

yep! it acts up sometimes but most of the time it's p reliable :^)

What are your common problems with your tablet? (aside from losing pen pressure time by time)

pen tracking lags, it stops working when it's still plugged in, windows 10 tries to interfere with its own settings, etc.

Do you use android charger wires for your tablet?

no :O i haven't heard of doing that, maybe i'll try it!

Do you change pen nibs?

i've only done that once lol

aska-ray

What kind of tablet do you currently have? Wacom Intuos Pen and Touch
How long do you have your current tablet? A yearish?
Are you happy with what it currently is or are you troubleshooting with it? SO happy with it
What are your common problems with your tablet? (aside from losing pen pressure time by time) Installing the driver was A LITERAL FUCKING BITCH  but after about a day it works flawlessly, I've never lost pen pressure and gosh I love it

For those who changed tablets:

What was your first tablet? First was Wacom Intuos3 and then I had an Intuos4
Why did you change your tablet? my 3 lasted about six years before it finally stopped reliably responding; the wire had gotten old :( and for my Intuos4 I thought I had lost my pen and it was old so replacing the pen and getting a new tablet would've cost roughly the same. I later found the pen lmao so I still sometimes use my 4, but the pen is in rough shape. The tablet itself is fine

Extra questions:

Do you use android charger wires for your tablet? Like USB mini? No my current tablet uses USB C/3
Do you change pen nibs? Yes I press too hard I have to always change lmao

ClyncyeRudje

What kind of tablet do you currently have?

A huge Monoprice tablet, uncertain of the model since I don't have the original packaging.

How long do you have your current tablet?

I'm not actually sure, I think it's in the 5-6 year range?

Are you happy with what it currently is or are you troubleshooting with it?

Yeah, I'm satisfied with it; replacing up to a similarly-sized one would be several hundred dollars, anyway, and the only real benefit would be improved pressure sensitivity, which isn't so much of a problem that I want to drop that kind of money on something much, much more fragile from what I've heard. *slaps top of tablet* this baby chufty

What are your common problems with your tablet?

None, aside from losing pen pressure. The pen developed an issue and had to be replaced after about 5ish years of frequent use, though.

Do you use android charger wires for your tablet?

I don't know that this means. The USB connector is built into the tablet anyway, so it doesn't matter.

Do you change pen nibs?

Of course! The new pen seems to have harder nibs so I haven't had to replace that one yet, but it wasn't like it was super often for the old one either.

  • What kind of tablet do you currently have?
    I have an XP-Pen 22" HD!
  • How long do you have your current tablet?
I've been owning this tablet for about 5 months now :0
  • Are you happy with what it currently is or are you troubleshooting with it?
I'm really happy, and I've even suggested it to a few people! It works perfectly and it's also really huge, which helps me with drawing small details.
  • What are your common problems with your tablet? (aside from losing pen pressure time by time)
At first I had a couple of problems with drivers, but I just needed to update them and everything was solved by itself. Besides those initial problems, I didn't have much trouble with it.
  • What was your first tablet?
It was a small Intuos, I don't remember which one  precisely tho
  • Why did you change your tablet?
It was getting old and din't have a screen on it. I felt like it was time to get a new tablet that had a screen, so I could improve faster with digital art... also it was giving me lots of problems and I felt like its time was up
  • Do you use android charger wires for your tablet?
I mean, it came with its own cables lol
  • Do you change pen nibs?
I didn't have to change them yet, but whenever I feel it doesn't do as good as I'd expect, I will change it.

  • What kind of tablet do you currently have? Wacom Intuos Pen & Touch medium !

  • Are you happy with what it currently is or are you troubleshooting with it? Very happy with it ! It does lag sometimes but yeah
  • What are your common problems with your tablet? (aside from losing pen pressure time by time) : it sometimes does this VERY ANNOYING THING and I haven't figured out why yet, but sometimes I'll open sai and the cursor will lag insanely ? Like s-7 x 15 times worse ? Can't click anything, doing this only on sai, and no way to fix it unless I restart computer OTL

For those who changed tablets:

  • What was your first tablet? a very simple and super cheap Wacom Bamboo !
  • Why did you change your tablet? It's still working to this day, I just did want to use my new one !

Extra questions:

  • Do you use android charger wires for your tablet? Yep ! Currently have one as my cord ! though I had to trim it to fit the hole

I finally bit the bullet a few months back and upgraded my former tablet.

  • I currently have: An Artist 22. (Think the cheaper version on the Wacom Cintiq)
  • How long do you have your current tablet? A few months!
  • Are you happy with what it currently is or are you troubleshooting with it? Eh! I'm still getting used to it haha. It's way larger than my former tablet.
  • What are your common problems with your tablet? (aside from losing pen pressure time by time) it's very clunky with the wires being all at the bottom -_- Besides that and the occasional calibration issues, I'm pretty happy.

For those who changed tablets:

  • What was your first tablet? A Wacom Pen and Touch Medium.
  • Why did you change your tablet? It was being butts for a long time and finally stopped working for me properly. Plus Fiance convinced me to upgrade.

Extra questions:

  • Do you use android charger wires for your tablet? I can't use it for this one unfortunately.
  • Do you change pen nibs? Not yet! But this tablet came with TWO styluses. I cheered LOL

It's not required to answer these all--

  • What kind of tablet do you currently have? Huion 420!
  • How long do you have your current tablet? I've had it since around March-April!
  • Are you happy with what it currently is or are you troubleshooting with it? I'm happy with it!
  • What are your common problems with your tablet? (aside from losing pen pressure time by time) The only issue is the pen-pressure, but that happens to everyone so really I have no problems with it. Although it is small, I don't see it as a disadvantage.

For those who changed tablets:

  • What was your first tablet? Wacom Bamboo
  • Why did you change your tablet? The driver just wouldn't work on my laptop and it kept glitching out on me. I gave it to my friend and it works fine for him.

Extra questions:

  • Do you use android charger wires for your tablet? I did for my old bamboo, but the huion tablet takes a different type of cord.
  • Do you change pen nibs? Not yet, but my tablet did come with spare nibs for when the time comes.

What kind of tablet do you currently have?
Huion H610 Pro! $75 on Amazon, came with a carrying bag and an artist's glove.

How long do you have your current tablet?
I got it sometime late last year, I think? So about a year?

Are you happy with what it currently is or are you troubleshooting with it?
I'm happy with it! I can't think of a better one for me that's not way more expensive. I plan on getting one with a screen within the next two years, though, just to try it out; not a Cintiq but a cheaper one on Amazon.

What are your common problems with your tablet?
The main problem is that sometimes it switches to right-handed mode, and I'm left-handed. But I can always fix it in like two seconds by unplugging it and plugging it back in. If you're right-handed, though, it will work FLAWLESSLY otherwise and I highly reccomend it. It's super cheap and has like 1009 pressure points or something. It's amazing. I also don't use the two buttons on the pen because I hold pens weird so sometimes I have to move the pen around in my hand to avoid touching them, but that's just because of the way I hold my hand. OH and I can't get it to work with Sai? But I don't actually use that program and didn't really try all that hard, but I think there are solutions for that?

For those who changed tablets:

What was your first tablet?
Wacom Bamboo? Or something? It was $100 at the time and was the cheapest ''beginner,'' that was a super long time ago. I don't even think you can buy them anymore.

Why did you change your tablet?
My first one was honestly super outdated, the pen was partially broken, and I had moved waaaaay past it in terms of art skill. It just couldn't do what I wanted it to.

I then moved to a Wacom Create a long time ago, I think it was called that. It was actually sort of decent but it got so old that left-handed support was no longer a thing on my new-ish computer, so I literally had to drop it immediately because I'm left-handed.

I now have my H610 Pro, got it around a year ago. I'm super super glad that I changed, though, because this one is waaaaaay more professional and my art IMMEDIATELY improved once I got it. Like, no joke. It's just so much better of a tablet.

Extra questions:

Do you use android charger wires for your tablet? I don't with my current one, because it's new (so I still have the cord), but I did for my last two tablets. I'd just grab a cord that fit and shoved it in, haha. I'm not a very organized person and I don't even know if I was ever using the correct one. Any Android chargers that I have/had weren't from any devices that I still use and the tablets were so old that I don't even remember what the original charging cord(s) looked like.

Do you change pen nibs? My tablet is a year old and I haven't had to change nibs yet. It doesn't have flat nibs like Wacom ones, though, so I don't know how long the nib life is. It's not showing any signs of wearing down yet, though.

birthday

i dont remember the name of the one i have now or the one i had, nor do i remember how long i had it for before i was forced to switch (i think it was getting messed up or smthn so i could barely use it) but know that when i switched, the one i was using was so outdated they didnt even make it anymore for a few years at that point sjgskdhsk... the one i have now is a newer version of it

i do use android chargers for my tablets as well as my tablet wires for my phone charger, and for my xbox controllers, and for whatever i can fit them into LOL. i just love the universal usb wire thing. its so useful!
