This crosses into my mind often after the tablet I've owned for 4 years acts up time by time. So yeah, I'd like to start a survey on what do you do when your tablet acts up!

It's not required to answer these all--
  • What kind of tablet do you currently have?
  • How long do you have your current tablet?
  • Are you happy with what it currently is or are you troubleshooting with it?
  • What are your common problems with your tablet? (aside from losing pen pressure time by time)
For those who changed tablets:
  • What was your first tablet?
  • Why did you change your tablet?
Extra questions:
  • Do you use android charger wires for your tablet?
  • Do you change pen nibs?
You are always free to expand more than these questions, by the way!

What kind of tablet do you currently have?

Huion inspiroy h430p

How long do you have your current tablet?

Since early February!

Are you happy with what it currently is or are you troubleshooting with it?

Very satisfied with it.

What are your common problems with your tablet? (aside from losing pen pressure time by time)

I personally haven't had any issues with my tablet.

For those who changed tablets:

What was your first tablet?

A small Wacom Intuos ^^

Why did you change your tablet?

Changed my wacom intuos to a huion Gt-190 since the nibs wore out too quickly and were too expensive to replace imo. Also really wanted a graphics monitor lmao. I changed from my gt-190 to my inspiroy since the 190 was just wayyyy too big and heavy. All I wanted was a small, cheap tablet, and the inspiroy was right up my alley.

Extra questions:

Do you use android charger wires for your tablet?

I'm not sure if the wire can be used with an android device.

Do you change pen nibs?

No.

my first tablet was a digi pro 640 that i got in october 2013. it's small and it cost about $23. i got a new tablet in december 2018 and the only reason is that i wanted a tablet with a screen. my old tablet still works and it's always been very good. it has cracks but its performance never lessened. i've never had to change pen nibs. this tablet has hot keys that you tap with the pen. i didn't investigate much but they stopped working after i updated to windows 10. i've only had 2 tablets so i don't have much to compare to but digi pro 640 is a great tablet for a low price and i'd recommend it if it was still being sold.

my current tablet is an xp-pen. i don't remember which model but it cost about $200. its buttons and scroll thingy don't always work. often as i'm drawing it thinks ctrl (one of the buttons) is being held and i have to tap it on my keyboard. the screen flickers sometimes or becomes distorted depending on the cord's plug's position. the plug, by the way, blocks the power button which is just poor design. other than that this tablet works pretty well. i hope it holds up like my last one

What kind of tablet do you currently have? huion H610
How long do you have your current tablet? Exactly 4 years
Are you happy with what it currently is or are you troubleshooting with it? Mostly, the surface is really scratched because I forgot that I had extra nibs and continued using it after the nib wore out. It also sometimes has troubles connecting to my laptop so I'm thinking of getting a new one. But I feel like these problems are minimal and I don't really need to change anything.
What are your common problems with your tablet? see above

What kind of tablet do you currently have? Wacom Intuos Pro
How long do you have your current tablet? Rough because I'm using my roommate's tablet because my old one of the same type stopped working (and they've moved over to ipad mostly)
Are you happy with what it currently is or are you troubleshooting with it? Mostly? Honestly for what it is it works very well. But if I were getting something new and actually had the money I would very much like to move to either ipad or something with a screen -- It's not terrible and the size isn't lacking which was an issue I've very frequently had but it's simply functional, I guess?
What are your common problems with your tablet? Mostly just pen pressure issues which can't be resolved unless a complete restart goes through -- not just fixing the software in settings which I was able to mostly with my last tablet. I've had to redownload the drives more than I wish. Besides that very little.

What was your first tablet? wacom CTE Graphire4 (4x5 I think with even less space to draw because only the centre bit was actually the tablet....)
Why did you change your tablet? Nope it's just USB connected.
Do you use android charger wires for your tablet? Nope I don't even know what that is.
Do you change pen nibs? Very frequently sadly...Every 2-3 months round about. I have a hard time with the grip on my stylus and pressure I use is a consistent issue. Really need a grip or something because this has been an issue for years.

  • What kind of tablet do you currently have? Wacom Intuos (New black model)
  • How long do you have your current tablet? Only for about a month.
  • Are you happy with what it currently is or are you troubleshooting with it? It does it's job. I'm quite happy with it.
  • What are your common problems with your tablet? (aside from losing pen pressure time by time) No problems with this one. The old one was a bit of a mess. The pen wouldn't register for a split second when making a line and it would leave a really straight bit in a clean curved line.

For those who changed tablets:

  • What was your first tablet? Wacom intuos (Old grey model)
  • Why did you change your tablet? The old one finally gave out after 4 long years.

Extra questions:

  • Do you use android charger wires for your tablet? I don't know what this means.
  • Do you change pen nibs? I'm pretty heavy handed so yes. They seem to wear down too easily. I tend to change them out after they develop a sharp edge. With my last tablet I ran out of nibs so I used a nail file to make it round again haha.

What kind of tablet do you currently have?
Ugee 1910b.

How long do you have your current tablet?
About two years. I think I got it for my birthday in 2017.

Are you happy with what it currently is or are you troubleshooting with it?
It works.

What are your common problems with your tablet? (aside from losing pen pressure time by time)
It feels like a pain to set up, the saturation is higher than it should be so it hurts to look at for a while.

Currently, I just use my mouse to draw and for me, it makes no difference in my work except sketch lineart (I make doodles more than actual pieces of art so most of my art is just doodles I made in SAI 2 with my mouse). That linework layer in SAI (1+2) is super useful. It's a hassle to set things up (it's like a monitor and if I really felt like it, I could probably set it up as one too) so unless I'm working on like...a painting or something, I just stick with my mouse.

Do you use android charger wires for your tablet? Still have the USB it came with so no!

Do you change pen nibs? Yep

tbh I dread when this one stops working because Wacoms have gotten so expensive there's little chance I'll buy another Wacom. So I'll have to find another brand

My very first tablet was a Wacom Bamboo tablet (back when those still resisted). I had it for about... 4 years? Maybe 5?

By the time I was able to convince my parents to drop the dough for me to upgrade, they had already rebranded everything. My next (and current) one is the Intuos Pro Medium. I’ve had this tablet for at least six years I think, if I’m counting right.

I love her, but tbh, I feel like she’s getting to the end of her journey. She’s been broken for four years now (cable connection doesn’t work) so I’ve been getting by with the Wireless Kit trick, but I’ve had to replace the kit three times and this one is bugging out again. But tablets are so expensive ahhhh
