it’s exactly what it says on the tin ; what would your story/main universe/whatever be like if it was a show/series?

feel free to answer freeform or answer some questions i made up if you’d like ?

-how would it be shown? live action, western animation, anime, cgi animated, etc

-what would the main genre be?

-how long would it run for?

-how long would episodes be? common times are 11, 15, or 30 minutes or over an hour

-how would the story be divided and formatted between episodes and seasons?

-what would the opening theme be?

-what would the ending theme be?

try to keep things non related to hypothetical fandoms, there’s a thread for that

All of my stories would end up being either lengthy miniseries or else series that go on for years, I can say that for sure. :/

Ryn's story is 100% a mediocre ABC series. A suspiciously diverse cast of young people! In the near future! With magic! The cgi is shit and Ryn's probably played by some obscure Australian comedian. It's all shot in the shittier suburbs of my state's capital (which gives us plenty of choice!) and the main reason anyone watches it is bc it's local. I'm thinking it has similar vibes to something like Please Like Me in that it seems like a comedy until it turns around and punches you in the stomach with some severe feels/relatable Australian awkwardness that makes u want to disintegrate from second hand embarrassment. It tries to make some kind of Meaningful Social Commentary but probably just ends up being a bit on the nose.

Episodes are on the longer side, maybe 45 minutes. The music is forgettable original compositions which have a weirdly scifi bent to bc there's not enough money to make things actually look futuristic. Critical reception is lukewarm. It gets cancelled after the first season and leaves you on a cliffhanger forever.

OOOO so for my bean's story because thats my main focus rn

Id say it would be sort of a mixed, grab bag of different genres. I dont want to say split all the substories into their own seasons because it feels limiting, and would force watchers to have to suffer through periods where they hate every character in the story but love the others.

There are three eras + a bonus alt. universe of one era which would make a good spinoff.

For the three eras, there are four storylines total. The four storylines are interconnected throughout the eras with clever referances, and each one has a set goal in mind to reach at the end. The stories have varying levels of intensity and drama, and between the nine maincharacters in the arc, not all show up in the beginning. For arc one, it mainly focuses on Fuse, Ozwald, Marigold, and Truffla. Arc two is the climax arc for all the stories, and introduces Bea + Cassiopeia to Ozwald's story, Cologne to Marigold's, and Ben to Truffla's. The third arc is the resolution arc where the characters begin to recover. The only new character is Dusty to Marigold's story. Ozwald has overcome his social anxiety and learns to be content with what he has, Fuse learns that he can learn to trust some people, Marigold finally finds a home and a family, and Truffla escapes to join the circus (ultimately leaving Ben behind, and at the very ending scene we see him realize how he was manipulated and abused by Ben).

As I mentioned earlier, there is a fifth story, Rosebud's. But hers would do best as a mini side series, maybe a special.

gonna do this for my main kids! I think one of my fantasy stories would be more interesting to watch but this one's the most developed

how would it be shown?

most likely a western animation but I can also see it as live action too

what would the main genre be?

slice of life/romance/drama sorta thing. charlie and aaron would be the main characters, it'd focus mostly on their lives and relationship

how long would it run for?

it'd probably need around 5 seasons, though i'm really bad at ending things so it could go on forever lmao. I'd also love a spin-off about lacey, melody and noah

how long would episodes be?

probably 15-30 minutes I'm not really sure

how would the story be divided and formatted between episodes and seasons?

I'm thinking each season would cover the course of a year. the first few would focus on the character's late school years, then the later seasons would cover their lives after

what would the opening theme be?

honestly have no idea lol

what would the ending theme be?

some sorta soft ukulele tune sung by charlie. probably just featuring charlie and possibly aaron

Aaaaa this is fun. I too think about this a lot. Using Vast as my inspiration. My other OCs (mostly tabletop and RP characters) would more likely fit the 30min long It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia format. XD

how would it be shown? live action, western animation, anime, cgi animated, etc

I would definitely lean towards stylistic western animation, something akin to Samurai Jack. Since most of the characters are draconids on an alien world, I'd rather that all be captured in a painterly, if not traditional style.

what would the main genre be?

Fantasy adventure. Think Brandon Sanderson cosmere levels of strife but with dragon people.

how long would it run for?

Considering it doesn't get cancelled for having a slow first season, it may last about four to five seasons for the first story alone. Each season would be the end of a story beat. Maybe about 12-16 eps a season depending on budgetary and writing constraints.

how long would episodes be? common times are 11, 15, or 30 minutes or over an hour

No more than 30 minutes an episode, so since they typically format for commercials probably about 24 min per episode.

how would the story be divided and formatted between episodes and seasons?

As stated above, each season is a story beat (meaning something major happens and either resolves or emerges at the end of the season pertaining to the overall story or character growth). I don't know for certain if episodes will each focus on one character at a time or not, as there are multiple main characters.

what would the opening theme be? what would the ending theme be?

I put these together because I'd probably favor a composer for both rather than an existing song (s). Something that both captures the scale and the otherworldliness of the setting. I'd scout for an interesting indie artist.

If the story I'm thinking of was a show (and it might even be one day, considering my plans for the future!):

- Most definitely 90s style frame-by-frame animation. No tweening (except camera movement maybe?), no 3D.

- Dash of both playfulness from a kids show and darker themes from adult media, but nothing absolutely 18+

- 22-30 minute episodes, with 11-15 minute ones for not-so-important things thrown in. Mix of casual stuff and meaningful, adventurous stories possibly spanning multiple episodes. At most 7-8 seasons with 30 episodes each perhaps? Season premieres and finales would involve major lore revelations and occurrences that may or may not radically alter status quo.

I've got a lot to say, so I'll put in a spoiler! Read it if you wish, I personally think it's all pretty interesting.

I actually have thought before what it would be like if my main story were a piece of western adult animation. I feel like most adult animation is really stale and predictable nowadays, with pretty low production values. This would have the same production process as shows like Steven Universe and OK K.O., but still with a more complex and gritty style and theme.

It would be a pretty epic story with a very complex plot. Lots of characters, secrets, surprises, and loopholes. I'd want to focus diversity and inclusion as much as possible, I purposefully try to do that with my story now and I'd want to keep that. The designs also mean a lot to me, I'd want to keep those mostly the same because each character's design tells a story, it isn't just /there/.

Since I wouldn't want it to be live action, 60 minutes per episode seems like a bit much, but you never know. For the kind of storytelling I'm looking for, 30 minute episodes should work, but it's still a stretch for a handcrafted animated series. (You can tell that the ambitions I have for this project are way to far out there, but hey, I can dream...)

The first four episodes would focus on the main four characters specifically, showing their separation after the Californian secession, and how they all drift apart. Later episodes would jump around various characters, old and new. There would be little hints within many of the scenes, connecting them to each other and reminding the viewer: "Oh yeah, this person still is connected to this person, and that thing is still happening".

As for soundtrack, most of it I would like to compose on my own. I have very specific song lyrics and ideas for each character. But I think a potential opening theme for each episode, short, with a slow animated sequence, could be the first three verses of "The Spiritual' by Jukebox the Ghost, one of my favorite songs ever:

"Some walk quiet, some walk loud
Sometimes people yell but they don't know what they're yelling about
I've said things I didn't mean, but I'd already said them out loud
Forgive me if you can find out how

You could rise, you could sing
Some keep filled up with the secrets that they think they need
Oh, what ever will the others think?
That you're human like the rest of us, weak

Lord above me
To my knees bring me
It's a call I don't often make
This is the rarest of pleas
Fair enough
Again you got the best of me
Now let me go, let me go in peace"

Okay I should probably stop there. You can tell I've put a lot of thought into this.

-how would it be shown? live action, western animation, anime, cgi animated, etc

live action would work best

-what would the main genre be?

either a sitcom or a drama/comedy in the likes of schitt's creek or jane the virgin, i would definitely like NBC to produce it.

-how long would it run for?

i like to think at least 3 seasons but it would probably get seasonal rot if any longer depending how episodes per season.

-how long would episodes be? common times are 11, 15, or 30 minutes or over an hour

21-23 minutes like most sitcoms!

-how would the story be divided and formatted between episodes and seasons?

the first season is really dedicated to getting to know the characters until around half the season in where they finally go on tour. the tour lasts until the end of the second season where season 3 would be dedicated to some life off of tour as they mostly do local shows.

Answering just for The Last Oasis for now but i might come back later if I get any other coolio ideas

-how would it be shown? live action, western animation, anime, cgi animated, etc

I feel it'd look much better as an anime or a CGI animated show (or maybe a mix???)

-what would the main genre be?

Action/adventure, survival, and post-apocalyptic describe it pretty well

-how long would it run for?

I imagine all the episodes would be dropped at once like a netflix series so i have no idea how to answer this one

-how long would episodes be? common times are 11, 15, or 30 minutes or over an hour

Each episode would be an hour long or so

-how would the story be divided and formatted between episodes and seasons?

Back to the netflix-series thing, it would be 3-6 really long episodes to cover everything (1 on the intro, some on the middle of the story, and some on the end of the story)

-what would the opening theme be?

I'll just say there's no intro theme; just a cut to a title sequence then back to the story

-what would the ending theme be?

000000008.⎋ and 00000007.restored for the last episode
