Hi!

Since the original Unpopular Opinion Thread is locked (it turned into a shit-show reeeaaal fast) , I've gotten permission to remake it.

I've decided to use the original rules for the thread since those were gucci

Edit: I didn't mean to post ic aaaaaaaa

Spoilers: Rules

- Don't be very rude or snarky to others. Remember, everyone has their own personal opinions.

- Disagreeing with someone's opinion is allowed, as long as it's not rude.

- Yo don't namedrop people, even if they're not on this site.

- To avoid causing a mess, refrain from starting an argument at all times!

- If there's something wrong going on in this thread, or if it's going out-of-hand, please PM me so that I can take care of it!

- Vaguing someone is prohibited, and it's connected to the third rule.

- Please do not post more than twice per page, so that it won't cause too much of a mess.

- It's okay if you vent, don't go too all-out on it. This is not the Vent Board.

- Also, please try not to turn this thread into a saltfest.

- Please, no opinions focused on racism, LGBT, politics, religion and the like. These will cause a massive flamewar. Controversial opinions are also not allowed unless taken lightly.

- Don't say stuff like "I don't like X" or "What? I love X!" in a way that's aggressive. This is meant to be a nice thread about sharing your unpopular opinions, not countering someone else's opinion.

-If it's something nsfw, use a spoiler box, or blackout the text  like this

- Don't call this thread out as a "bad idea." If you don't like this thread, please do not post here.

-Failure to comply with these rules will result in a warning, or ban depending on how severely you broke the rules.

Ey yo,  if you see someone breaking the rules, pm me. I love it when ppl do this because I'm a blind bih.

None (yet, but I think it's time to bring this bad boy out.)

Agreed other than Sans in Smash. That's all that was good. Although some of Pokemon news was cool, it's still not enough to make me want it.

(Edit!: uh I dunno if my example about abusive racing needs a quick little censor or not? it's not too descriptive but if it bothers you please let me know!)

(Warning: quick 'no discipline is bad' turned into massive horse rant ahead!

No riding discipline is inherently bad or abusive. Yes, every one of them definitely can be, but they can also be perfectly fine. In  pretty much every case (as far as I know) you're only asking the horse to do something that it's already capable of doing. The problem is when you push them too far, that's when it becomes abusive. For example: something like racing. All horses are able to run. Plenty of horses like, or even love to run. When you make them run so hard it literally kills them, that's when it's abuse.

(Things like bits are a similar story! They aren't inherently abusive, but when used wrongly / in any way that causes pain (like yanking on them or holding them way too tight) they can be. On this subject, bitless bridles (or no bridles!) are great too! I've used bits, bitless, and just a halter with reins, and all of them have worked just fine for me. It mostly depends on the horse, and what they need or can handle. If they've never had a bit in their mouth but are great with bitless bridles, then there's no need to give them a bit. Same for a horse that works great on a bit, but is absolutely terrible without one, you don't need to make them go bitless if it won't work for them!)

(also another horse-related note, lots of the community needs to take it down a notch. Yes, as I said, these things can be bad. Yes, you have all the freedom to disagree, or not use them for your own riding. But that doesn't mean you can scream about abuse to anyone who does! Personally I don't really like spurs, as I've never seen or been with a horse that truly needs them and I think they can be unnecessary, but as long as you aren't jabbing your horse until they bleed, then go ahead. I probably won't use them anytime soon, but if you want to I won't stop you)\

(uh basically tl;dr:  just because you don't like it, doesn't mean it's bad or abusive (unless it really is abuse))

really unpopular opinion cuz no one played this game:

Deadly Premonition Origins and 2 announced for switch was the best part of the direct

(please go play this game)

ParadiseLost

Sans in Smash? What was Sakurai even thinking?????

RadiantRaindragon

I don't normally post on this thread but I thought I'd throw one post down just for fun.

Unpopular opinion: I don't like it when people call their pets their 'babies' or refer to themselves as their pet's 'mum' or 'dad'. It just seems weird to me. It's... not your baby. It's a pet animal. There's a difference.

Especially if the animal ends up with behaviour problems because the owner insists on spoiling and babying them instead of handling/training them properly.

omg I know your post is a little bit old but AGREED!!!

i always thought the moomin dude was a kid? and its cute cause kids do get crushes on adults sometimes, but the actual ship i just really dont like. I don't judge people who do ship it of course, especially cause I actually know so little about it. In that old cartoon moomin sounds so young but in that newer 3d one he has a grown man voice so? it's a mystery to me! lol

I hate it when a character design I like has a lot of extra art. Nine times out of ten, a good chunk of the price is the additional art and usually I don't like the art so I'm not going to pay for art I won't use :(

night in the woods fucking sucks

Vashkareeth

INCREDIBLY unpopular opinion here...

I honestly don't care if people steal my art

Very (long) Unpopular Opinion (Disclaimer: Generic "you" in play here. No single person is targeted. If you feel personally attacked by this post, then you are indeed part of the problem.)

I wish more people would stop trying to hide from reality all the time and try to learn to cope with the world as it is with occasional "sanity breaks". There's nothing wrong with needing time for yourself or stepping away from truly grim and gruesome parts of reality, but crying that the world is "ZOMGMEENZ0RZ!!1!11!ELEVENTYONE!" and saying the only reason you failed at something or didn't achieve something you wanted is because everyone else was mean to you is a cop-out most of the time. Yes, sometimes someone blocks you, holds you back, or otherwise tries to keep you from winning at something, but more often, it's just a case of You. Just. Didn't. Win. Maybe there was a better candidate than you who got there first. Maybe you didn't try hard enough or didn't follow the instructions correctly. Maybe even it was purely the luck of the draw, chance, and chance wasn't on your side that day.

I want to see more people pull up their Big <Gender Identity> pants and act like an adult in situations that really call for it. You don't have to give up fun things to "act like an adult". You don't have to stop playing games, reading comics, collecting plushies, or whatever childlike pursuit you enjoy, to "act like an adult". You just have to take responsibility for your own life and failures and stop trying to blame everyone else or demand everyone make the world easier for you because "trying is hard UwU".

If someone thinks differently than you or does things you don't like or that make you upset, but they're not specifically doing them at you or people you care about, then you need to leave them alone. Don't be asinine and suggest I'm saying to allow racists to do racist things or allow bullies to bully other people, or things like that. You and I are both not that stupid and you know I know this. I'm saying if someone eats meat and you're a vegan/vegetarian, if someone ships two characters together that you think don't belong together for whatever reason, if someone is friends with someone you don't like, if someone is pro-choice, and so on, then simply cut them out of your life. Cancel Culture is toxic, the way it's used most frequently.

People aren't canceling real racists, pedos, or abusive people. They're trying to cancel people they simply hold a diametrically opposed opinion to, and that's not ok. You types bleat about freedom, but you only bleat about your freedom. Freedom is only ok if it's for things you agree with. If you don't like that other person's opinion, they need to be "canceled" so that they are never safe to express their own freedom anywhere in the real or online world anymore. That's not how freedom was ever meant to be had, if you consider things like the American constitution. I'm sure if you're not American, your own country's constitution or similar document is written in a similar way.

TL;DR Learn to cope in a world where it isn't all about you and you can't always have everything your way. You'll be a healthier person who can survive better and longer, and you'll respect the legal rights of other people better.

object head characters are really fucking overrated. most of the time there is no other creativity involved other than the character’s head is a TV or something, and even then that isn’t really all that creative either. there’s just usually no effort put into the design. i honestly don’t understand that whole craze

also, i feel like the whole kenomimi concept is really overused too. it was cool when it started, but as more and more people started slapping on ears and tails on their characters the whole thing just kind of lost its flair

and finally: billdip is a fucking awful ship and i don’t know how it got so popular
