You WILL let me ask about your ocs. [temp closed]

I am currently unable to keep up due to having moved, but I will come back to this thread when I can!

(holding out my hand) give me your OCs. Let me ask questions.

100% inspired by Trowa's super trendy post! It got me all hyped up to talk about my own OCs, and so I want to pay it forward to everyone else.

Pick one OC. Post IC, and I'll read through your OC's profile and find questions to ask you. It might take me some time, but I'll be sure to get back to everyone. Don't worry about how many people are ahead of you, I'll get to ya!

I’m amazed by the traction this thread got! We had over 250 posts when I unfortunately had to close it, and now I'm bringing it back! It’s so much fun to read profiles I might not have otherwise even found, and then get to dig deep into their backgrounds with questions! I have seen a couple of people say that they might want to ask me questions; this is 100% NOT required and if you just want to drop a character and come back to answer questions, you are valid in that!

But if you DO want to ask me about my characters in turn, I would recommend Apocalypse Tokyo! (Although you’re free to venture into others, of course!) This is just my active folder that I work on regularly. Or, if you want to ask about an underdeveloped world, "of the rising sun" is my new project. Once again, NOT required. No need to feel pressured to think something up!

tysm for the response! :"^) it took me a hot minute 2 come up w my answers

What first made Chris start to question his family's religious beliefs? Was there a specific event/teaching that he secretly began to question or disagree with?

there wasn't really a single event that made him start to question things. rather, small seeds of doubt were planted in his mind as he got older. sometimes it was his parents not answering his questions, and other times it was religious education not explaining the reasons behind their teachings. informing himself about opposing viewpoints once he was old enough to find them fueled his questioning further.

His bio says that he started to figure out his sexuality online; was that through a community that he found on the internet, or something else? Did he ever have to explain away internet history for his parents' benefit?

something else. he was too shy to interact with others online. to put it lightly, chris has probably had to explain himself at least once.

Does Chris have any contact with his parents at this point in time? Do they know how he's doing? Does Peter stand up for him when he comes up in conversation among the family?

i'd imagine he's starting to drift away from them, only updating them on how he's doing every once in a while. even though chris and peter's relationship with their parents wasn't abusive or unhealthy, it is a bit strained (even more so for peter). they both have their reasons for slowly drifting away from their parents besides being an ocean away, with chris being that he felt that the way they raised him stifled his recovery from depression/anxiety and his growth as a person in general. it's all kind of vague/up in the air atm since i haven't exactly fleshed out their parents yet but :"^o that's the gist of it i guess

I'm off work! We got so busy in the second half, I couldn't ask any questions! ;o; Here's batch #10!

First of all, his profile is amazing! So full and fleshed out! How long has Rowan been growing his hair out? It's so pretty! Why the dislike for standard wine glasses? Is it just a preference for fancy glassware, or is there a story behind that? His humor is rated kinda low, and I see that he's serious; is he the type who can't take a joke and makes sure you know it, or does he allow joking even when he doesn't like it/doesn't get it? Who is in the painting of The Demure Raven? Was that Flynn, or someone else in his life? Overall what an awesome character, I feel inspired!

Why did Cass break into the house of these monsters? Did he think it would be a safe place for him? Did he think it was abandoned? Of the roommate who is discriminatory towards demons: How does Cass handle it? Has it ever escalated into a fight? Why is he such a bad liar?

Oh hey it's Sylvan! Why does he dislike tight spaces, crowds, being touched? For those last two, is he just shy? Or was it a result of his kidnapping? Does Sylvan ever find himself in large crowds? What happens when he does? What are the bandages on his feet and arms for? Do his ears perk up/go down depending on mood, or purely on stimulus? How did he escape from the circus?

toonalien -- I am Looking...

No age and no birthday are listed; does Wiila have a birthday, or a day when they were created? Are they relatively young/new, or are they as "old" as the Wii? I assume Wiila likes games; what genre is their favorite? Do they have a specific favorite game? What is Wiila's purpose; is it just to play games?

aska-ray

Roughly how old is Fenrine? If he were to talk about it, what would he say about his past? What was his youth like, or his relationship with his family? What is his favorite kind or genre of book? Does he have a favorite plant? Does he name his plants?

Androiids -- don't worry I barely know the meaning of DBH... Dog Bone Ham

Activated in December! Was he created for a holiday, or for a specific purpose during that season, given as a gift...? I see that C is phobic of touch, wary of people, and generally distrusting. Was his AI intended to be so emotions driven? (In other words, would another AI from the same line with a similar experience have a similar reaction? Or is C a "fluke" in terms of that? Why the one-letter names, C and R? Is "CI100" short for something?

What is a Seulkeeper? What does Loki like about pottery, and what does he like to make? Why is he so reserved in nature? Does he dye or bleach his hair, or are the white stripes hereditary? Do his horns(?) have some sort of liquid inside them? What is it for?

Vilkaloid

Sorry for deleting my post, i felt he wasn't fleshed out enough!

1. what is a seulkeeper?

Seulkeepers are a species i run, and loki just so happens to be the mascot!

2. What does loki like about pottery?

He enjoys pottery because it's  a slow process, and requires enough attention to clear his mind of other thoughts! He likes to make large vases, and bowls for his home!

3. Why is he so reserved in nature?

He was often put aside as a child because his parent's favored his sister, and didn't speak to him much.

4. Does he dye or bleach his hair, or are the white stripes hereditary?

They are hereditary!

5.  Do his horns(?) have some sort of liquid inside them? What is it for?

Yep, those are horns! The liquid inside is a soul, and based on his species lore, the essence of his existence!

BullPup haha you're good! Don't worry, I'm hoping that the questions in this thread help some folks to flesh out some characters!

succurox

Firstly, thank you so much for the compliment ;u;. Rowan is one of my most loved characters so it makes me super happy to know that other people like him too.

How long has Rowan been growing his hair out? It's so pretty!

The length it's at now, he's been growing it out for about 10ish years with the occasional trim. It's gotten much longer before when he was being a sad boy over losing Flynn since that was essentially 25 years of him just lashing out and not having any regard for himself and others. Instead of it looking like a rat's nest, he could be a spokesperson for Pantene now!

Why the dislike for standard wine glasses? Is it just a preference for fancy glassware, or is there a story behind that?

Just not his cup of tea (or cup of wine, rather). Marie Antoinette had her jewels and dresses she'd get greedy over. Rowan has his wine glasses. He would say that he needs a nice wine glass for the wonderful person who willingly gave his blood to him and while that's true, he just really likes the aesthetic of a fancier glass. How would you not wanna drink out of these?

His humor is rated kinda low, and I see that he's serious; is he the type who can't take a joke and makes sure you know it, or does he allow joking even when he doesn't like it/doesn't get it?

His humor, more or less, relates to himself. Has nothing to do with other people. He can definitely take a joke, he's just not super into joking back unless he's comfortable enough with someone. Even then, it's a bit hard to see him finding and taking in something that's entirely amusing.

Who is in the painting of The Demure Raven? Was that Flynn, or someone else in his life?

None other than his own Flynn. It was the painting he originally painted for the Harrington family which then was given to Rowan by said family to keep as remembrance. He repaints it every time it begins to lose its touch.

Thank you for the questions ~! Again, I'm really glad you like him and felt inspired!

MindKiller

damedanbo Yes, he is my precious baby boy who I love very much. ❤️

This is kind of long, I’m sorry. On mobile so I can’t do the spoiler thing I think. Regardless. Thank you very much for the questions! ^w^

Why does he dislike tight spaces, crowds, being touched? For those last two, is he just shy? Or was it a result of his kidnapping

Partially both. Due to the confinement he underwent while in the circus he isn’t completely comfortable with tight or enclosed spaces, big crowds, and unwanted or sudden touching. Tight spaces because of the cage he was kept in whenever he wasn’t being made to perform. Big crowds for the countless number of humans he would see everyday and having to endure their intense stares and hurtful words. Touching because of the rough handling he would often receive.

He overcomes his shyness when he gets comfortable with the situation and overcomes his anxiety.

Does Sylvan ever find himself in large crowds? What happens when he does?

Yes. Both tribes will gather for events held twice every year, with everyone’s attendance being mandatory. Members will often be in groups studying their skill or carrying out their duties. He tries his best to keep his emotions/anxieties in check when in a big crowd. He always has Vernyn by his side to calm him and provide emotional sipport.

He finds his own ways to manage. He will often hold onto Vernyn’s arm and squeeze it gently when everything becomes too much, at which Vernyn will promptly and politely excuse themselves to go somewhere less crowded. Sylvan will busy his mind with reciting his teachings, or he will simply look at the many flowers of the shrine’s gardens to help calm himself. Vernyn makes him feel grounded, safe, warm.

What are the bandages on his feet and arms for?

His arm bandages, along with the gloves on his hands, help prevent strain to his muscles when performing his duties. His work can take a toll on his muscles and leave them sore and achy after a days work. The bandages keep steady pressure to alleviate and reduce the likelihood of this happening.

The bandages on his feet and ankles prevent sores/bruises when moving about the forest. His feet are already some-what resistant to the rough terrain, these are just an added precaution.

Do his ears perk up/go down depending on mood, or purely on stimulus?

They do! Their normal position is down but they can go up when he is extremely excited/happy. Sometimes he’ll even have one up and one down.

How did he escape from the circus?

The day he escaped was one of the few days were he got the day off. Not because they wanted to give him a break, oh no, they never did. He was not performing that day because the night before he not listened to the ring leader’s commands and he had ruined the act.  Sylvan rarely defied the circus like this, but when he did he was to be punished. Nothing physical because they didn’t want the evidence to be visible to the audience. It had to be emotionally draining.

He was to be locked up in a small cage for the whole day with no contact and no substantiate. In his anger, the ring leader had forgotten to lock the cage when he threw Sylvan into it the night before. Sylvan knew this was his only chance for freedom. When the circus had opened for the day, he was left alone behind the main tent and away from prying eyes. He made sure the coast was clear before he had flung open the gate of the cage and bolted towards the direction where he thought his home was. He had been wandering for a while before Vernyn found him.

1) Does he have a favorite romance novel that he returns to every time?

He does actually! Its called a Science Story, and its an in game novel series about a dwarf looking for his lost love and a whole series of adventures that he goes on. The books past the first volume had to be hand translated from dwarven and weren't officially published. Ruben always looked forward to getting every new hand copied manuscript, and he even taught himself dwarven to be able to read them. He found out halfway through the second book that the story was actually a true story written by a fellow adventurer through his journals when he participated in a battle of wits with a halfling that was in it. It remains his favorite series to this day and he's grateful to his best friend for introducing it to him.

2) He lives for the spotlight; does that include negative attention? Or does he draw away from that kind of attention?

He doesn't like being the front for negative attention, but he's learned that he can't run from it. Especially not with how big his name has gotten in his own world. When he was just starting out, he would twist stories to make himself look better, shift the blame for wrong doings, and disappear when he had to talk about anything uncomfortable. But after a few harsh experiences and becoming a face for the party, he learned the importance of dealing with backlash and negative attention gracefully. He's often called on to do "PR" for his friends. He enjoys being relied on for it, but he's not particularly fond of the pressure.

3) His notes say his ears are long "even by elf standards"-- why is that? Is that a natural occurence, or did he have his ears modified to get more attention?

It's definitely natural lol. He used to be incredibly self-conscious of them because he thought that they looked silly, especially because his human heritage would have leaned in more towards smaller ears. He's since grown into them and he considers it to be a part of his "look" nowadays. Its a trait he inherited from his father, and Ruben hasn't been able to confirm it but he's speculated that his father's side might have some mythic elf (a very old strain of super beautiful elves with longer than normal ears) in it somewhere alone the line. (despite being an illusionist and into his own appearance, he's never really used them to fix up his own natural looks. It feels dishonest to him)

thanks for the questions! it was super fun to finally write some of this down!

When Basil woke up, what was the first thought to go through their mind? (I know this sounds like a weird question but when I was in my accident, the first thing I thought when I awoke was "crap, now I have to take a shower before I do the homework I've been putting off..." and that makes me curious!) Did they have any immediate assumptions about what had happened to them--natural disaster, attack? While Basil isolated themselves for that three month period, did they do anything to pass the time? Or did they just stare at the wall and sleep? What do Basil ad Yuuto have in common? Does Basil ever stress about not remembering what happened before their coma? Will they ever face their powers and stop ignoring them? Is flight their only power?

callilux

I am cracking up over "teleports most aggressors away" so thank you. Why does he enjoy chores/domestic activities? Would he tell someone to their face that romance is gross? What, if anything, does Arsene remember from being Miquir? What has his thousand year tantrum looked like; is he destructive, violent, vindictive? Or has he been sulking moodily ever since killing Camellia?

Why did Cass break into the house of these monsters? Did he think it would be a safe place for him? Did he think it was abandoned?: Well, it was in part because he thought it'd be safe. It was stormy that night, and he really didn't want to be caught up in it for too long, so he figured B&E would be better than staying out there. Plus he knows that the streets aren't really the best place for teens or kids, especially since he lived in a shadier neighborhood than most. Someone would disappear once or twice a month, a crime ring would be discovered, or some poor person would be found dead in an alley. And that was with most people living in houses and such, so someone without that protection would most likely be preyed on sooner. Even if he got arrested, it would still be safer than hoping to survive on the streets for however long he'd have to. He also knew that the building wasn't abandoned, but the thunder was starting to freak him out so he panicked and just snuck into the closest place.

Of the roommate who is discriminatory towards demons: How does Cass handle it? Has it ever escalated into a fight?: It hasn't caused anything physical (yet), but Cass and them will often give each other a good verbal lashing whenever the roommate makes any sort of snide comment. The rest of the monsters know to try and keep them away from each other as much as possible, but it's inevitable that they pass by each other occasionally. A lot of the other housemates were a little similar at first, since demons are usually seen as the most dangerous/evil kind of monster, but Cass managed to turn their point of view around after he explained everything to them. The fights usually just stem from him questioning why the roommate hates demons so much or correcting anything they assume to be true that's actually false. And then it just sort of blows up from there until they're screaming at each other and being restrained by the others.

Why is he such a bad liar?: One part of it is the fact that he didn't have to lie often. His parents didn't really interact with him much, and he never did anything that would warrant a line of questioning from them. Most of the lies he had to give during his childhood were for teachers, since they could never get in contact with his parents. The other part of it is that, even though he has more people around him which gives more opportunities where it could be beneficial, he just doesn't like to lie. It doesn't feel right to him, and even if it did, he really doesn't want to potentially add onto the stigma that demons have somehow garnered. He's very aware of how people view his kind, and hates that view that he just avoids doing anything that could prove them right.

Thank you for the questions! It was fun to try and delve a little deeper into his character!
