You WILL let me ask about your ocs. [temp closed]

Posted 3 years, 11 months ago (Edited 3 years, 6 months ago) by damascus

I am currently unable to keep up due to having moved, but I will come back to this thread when I can!

(holding out my hand) give me your OCs. Let me ask questions.

100% inspired by Trowa's super trendy post! It got me all hyped up to talk about my own OCs, and so I want to pay it forward to everyone else.

Pick one OC. Post IC, and I'll read through your OC's profile and find questions to ask you. It might take me some time, but I'll be sure to get back to everyone. Don't worry about how many people are ahead of you, I'll get to ya!

I’m amazed by the traction this thread got! We had over 250 posts when I unfortunately had to close it, and now I'm bringing it back! It’s so much fun to read profiles I might not have otherwise even found, and then get to dig deep into their backgrounds with questions! I have seen a couple of people say that they might want to ask me questions; this is 100% NOT required and if you just want to drop a character and come back to answer questions, you are valid in that!

But if you DO want to ask me about my characters in turn, I would recommend Apocalypse Tokyo! (Although you’re free to venture into others, of course!) This is just my active folder that I work on regularly. Or, if you want to ask about an underdeveloped world, "of the rising sun" is my new project. Once again, NOT required. No need to feel pressured to think something up!

zinnia

thank you these r .. good questions >wo

When Basil woke up, what was the first thought to go through their mind? (I know this sounds like a weird question but when I was in my accident, the first thing I thought when I awoke was "crap, now I have to take a shower before I do the homework I've been putting off..." and that makes me curious!)

probably 'why am i on the floor?'. i'd be confused too if i woke up on the kitchen floor, i wouldnt blame em

Did they have any immediate assumptions about what had happened to them--natural disaster, attack?

basil had always assumed it was a natural disaster until meeting kaguya - who helped them make the connection that it was a disaster caused by lugia, not by nature. they still believe they were in a coma though - diego isn't sure when he'd have the confidence to tell them the truth

While Basil isolated themselves for that three month period, did they do anything to pass the time? Or did they just stare at the wall and sleep?

mostly staring at the wall, mindlessly browsing social media, mindlessly playing video games, and sleeping. by mindlessly playing video games i mean like, playing the sims but youre really just not into and kindof blindly watching, yaknow? wasn't a fun time

What do Basil ad Yuuto have in common?

their sense of humor, mainly - as well as similar tastes in music, surprisingly (basil was surprised too). yuuto was actually in the rave scene a bit when he was younger so he appreciates the type of music baz makes.

Does Basil ever stress about not remembering what happened before their coma?

sometimes, but they don't think too hard about it. if anything, they'd be more stressed if they did know (i.e. knowing their mom tried to save them would result in them feeling responsible for her death with would be no good)

Will they ever face their powers and stop ignoring them? Is flight their only power?

they do face them for a bit, but decide it's too tiresome and kinda... gave up on that. kaguya helped them experiment with them for a bit before baz decided they weren't gonna be using them that much but kaguya is like 'please just know how to defend yourself p l e a s e'. other than flight, they possess the ability to create storm surges and hurricanes, though they've never done so because they wouldnt want to cause destruction like that.

 Hakko Dokwon themilksnake

Why is Hakko a crybaby? Does he find that crying gets him more  attention? Why the dislike for livestock? Have the police ever caught  him? Why does he try to piss his little brother off so much? Do they  dislike each other that much?

Hakko is a very emotional and, yes, dramatic/attention-seeking person. Whenever he feels even the slightest bit uncomfortable, he will voice his concerns. Hakko is especially vocal about pain. However, he doesn't see himself as a crybaby.
Because Hakko is a snake, he has ambient pheromones that affect all living beings. It just so happens to make livestock HATE HIM. So, Hakko returns that energy, and hates them back.

Yes! The police have caught him, though his buddies break him out every time he ends up in jail.

Hakko and Castel (his little brother) just don't get along. They have completely different childhoods, goals, and outlooks on life. While Castel values tradition, Hakko actively disobeys it.

Thank you for the questions!

aska-ray

thanks for asking~<3 i'll try to answer these :3
if you have any follow up questions feel free to ask, haha

Roughly how old is Fenrine? late 20s, i'd say... the forest he lives in now has a whack sense of time and while years have past inside it, no one ages and nothing changes, so he's mentally quite older

If he were to talk about it, what would he say about his past? at this point if someone asked why he purposefully moved to a timeless forest that doesn't allow people to leave he'd be open to explaining a bit of it: there was a terrible civil war of succession in his home country, and he didn't think anyone he knew survived so he left it behind (he leaves out the part about being an ex-assassin, and won't talk about it even if it's brought up)

What was his youth like, or his relationship with his family? when he was very young he was taken in by royal army, so he doesn't remember his direct family very much. he did have many close friends but almost all of them died in the war. he'd consider Hajime his only family now, and he does have a close friend visit him occasionally

What is his favorite kind or genre of book? he enjoys fantasy adventure novels, some how-to books (like cook books), and fairy tales or folk stories!

Does he have a favorite plant? i'm going to say some kind of particular tea plant but if i go to look any specific one up i'll be gone for hours

Does he name his plants? i never considered this but maybe he should LMAO

Caelestis Solaestial

i'd love any opportunity to talk about him!

Adula RyoseiHime

What a great idea for a thread! Feel free to ask about her human AU version or any other character, really. I picked her a bit at random because I'll gladly talk about anyone. : P Most of my non-human characters have human AUs.

ask away :)

Adella sunshineem

Ohhh, would you like to ask anything to Adella or about her?

hehe thank you for your time anyway

 Zahara Sigra sixofswords

Took me a while to answer cause I got distracted playing videogames lol but! here's the answers on Zahara! damedanbo !

What instilled the virtue of hard work in Zahara? Was she like that as a kid as well, always seeking to help out?
Her parents instilled that virtue in her. They wanted their kids to be hard workers, so that they could be always satisfied with the things they got. Zahara wasn't always like that as a kid; she would have rather gone swimming or climbed a tree, but I think that's part of why she doubled down on the hard work after her parents essentially died. She was skipping out on helping when it happened, and while she knows on a technical level that she couldn't have stopped it, there's the little nagging feeling of "maybe if you hadn't been lazy that day it wouldn't have happened."

When was she at her angriest, what was happening?
That anger was at herself, for not getting the process she wanted done. She destroyed quills, kept buying books just to fuck them up, forgot to eat a little bit on purpose, didn't sleep (not even because she was doing something, she would just be too wound up to sleep), and felt kind of glad that she wasn't around others because she was certain she'd blow up at them.

Why the dislike for hair on her face--does it make it harder to see what’s coming, is it a sensory issue, or just a preference?
It's a sensory thing! She doesn't like feeling her hair past her chin, she doesn't like feeling it on her face. The length she keeps it at is the perfect one she's found where she doesn't have any problems with how it feels. She also doesn't like not seeing what's coming, but that comes way second to the sensory experience of it all.

The dislike for crowds: is she agoraphobic, or just prefers not to be around too many people?
She's not agoraphobic, but it's more about the sensory experience of crowds. They're loud, they have too much going on visually, and she's also not used to them so she doesn't know what to do. If she has to be in a crowd for too long she'll probably shut down.
.... I think she's on the autism spectrum, actually. Just thinking about a bunch of the behaviors I've given her and why lol.

Do she and Kismet ever snap at each other, now that they’ve reunited? Or do they do their best to get along and rebuild their relationship, silently quelling any issues that might arise?
They are actively trying not to snap at each other. It's a little bit like each of them is trying to befriend a feral cat, making everything very deliberate and very thought-out, building up trust and knowledge before trying to address anything deeper.

Meeri 🐈 cookeycat

[edit to answer the qs]. many thanks for the qs:

What draws Meeri to cats and animals?
Simply because I love cats; Cats are life. Let me explain with a song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sP4NMoJcFd4
Cats are so cute, and you need to earn their trust and respect to be friends with them. + their meows are so angelic.

But of course not only cats, but all animals have important roles in the ecosystem. Mitochondria is the Powerhouse of the Cell. Love to the nature/animals has always been a part of her life. Meeri finds almost all animals cute. +they are an interesting subject to study; they have played an important role in history etc.
-
Does she like the animals on her homeworld as well, if there are any?
Previous answer applies to this question as well :3
-
What fascinates her about religion?
How easily it can be used to control the masses.
"Religion is like a tiger: it fascinates you, but you are nevertheless afraid of it."
-
Being away from her homeworld is listed as a dislike; does she leave it often?
It depends. Meeri travels only when she absolutely needs to; but due to her family business and other activities, it happens more often than she anticipates.
-
When she travels, where does she go, for how long?
To the other planets. Usually for 2-3 days; but sometimes for several weeks (luckily doesn't happen often).
-
Why doesn't she like interacting with other sentient species?
Mostly because it triggers her anxiety. And she hates to speak languages that are used in interplanetary business, trade and commerce. Her pronunciation is horrendous.
Meeri is quite comfortable in the circle of family/friends; traveling within her homeworld is not a poblem as well (stay home gang).
But traveling and meeting new ppl is quite a challenge. Meeri is very introverted and easily gets tired/annoyed when she is forced to communicate.
Especially when the goal is to find new business partners, sell/buy something etc. Meeri has learned not to show emotions, and plays her role well.

Qs for Lǐ Bào: What is your weapon of choice? Thoughts on mice?

Captain Jas Faulkes WhiskeyWorks

You came up with so many wonderful questions it took me a full day and a half to find time to write a response, haha! It's nice to see how genuinely interested you are in everyone's characters. I know you've got a lot to read, so I'll try to keep my responses on the short side. ;)

What did his most notable scar, crossing over his nose and onto his cheek, come from? Is it a story he likes to tell, or one he'd prefer to forget?

When Faulkes first found his shipmates smuggling illicit cargo, he was beaten to near death. A few of those first blows to the face not only broke his nose, but caught him in the cheek with a ring. While he will happily regale folks with tales of some of his other scars, that one is definitely a story he would rather forget.

Does Faulkes have any trouble trusting others after being tied, drugged, and beaten by his crewmates?

Oh, absolutely. While it may sound a little counter-intuitive, Faulkes is quick to make friends, but very slow to trust. Thankfully, he genuinely believes that most people are good at heart, and there is light to be found in everyone.

What does Faulkes' new story look like? What will he do to regain his ship, glory, and friend?

Where to start. With our campaign actually coming to an end very soon (after a phenomenal 3.5 years), I have been planning to overhaul his character page with all of the important information and happenings from his adventures with The Dream Team (our party name). This will include everything he has been through, everything that has impacted his life, and everything he plans to do as our game finally comes to a close. The good -- nay, GREAT news is that over the course of our adventures he has since regained his ship, his glory, and his friend. After it had been subjected to use as a fishing vessel during The Great Demon War, The Apostate was commandeered back by Faulkes and his friends during a mission of intrigue and liberation. His glory has been regained over time as tales of The Dream Team's adventures have spread across the land, and as such, he and his friends have become exceedingly famous -- and even revered. His best friend, Diirn, was rescued from the clutches of a notorious cult, and in reuniting after six long years, the two refuse to ever be apart again. Over time, the two have slowly come to realize that their relationship transcends any normal male friendship. They're married now, and everything just seems... right.

 What is he afraid of?

After everything he has been through, there is very little that genuinely frightens Faulkes. The only thing that scares him now -- and boy does it scare him -- is the thought of losing his best-friend-turned-husband, Diirn. He already lost him once... the thought of losing him ever again is genuinely terrifying.

Alright, I hope I didn't bore you with my ramblings... I know I said I would keep it short, but... well, whoops. Thanks for the questions. :)
