You WILL let me ask about your ocs. [temp closed]

I am currently unable to keep up due to having moved, but I will come back to this thread when I can!

(holding out my hand) give me your OCs. Let me ask questions.

100% inspired by Trowa's super trendy post! It got me all hyped up to talk about my own OCs, and so I want to pay it forward to everyone else.

Pick one OC. Post IC, and I'll read through your OC's profile and find questions to ask you. It might take me some time, but I'll be sure to get back to everyone. Don't worry about how many people are ahead of you, I'll get to ya!

I’m amazed by the traction this thread got! We had over 250 posts when I unfortunately had to close it, and now I'm bringing it back! It’s so much fun to read profiles I might not have otherwise even found, and then get to dig deep into their backgrounds with questions! I have seen a couple of people say that they might want to ask me questions; this is 100% NOT required and if you just want to drop a character and come back to answer questions, you are valid in that!

But if you DO want to ask me about my characters in turn, I would recommend Apocalypse Tokyo! (Although you’re free to venture into others, of course!) This is just my active folder that I work on regularly. Or, if you want to ask about an underdeveloped world, "of the rising sun" is my new project. Once again, NOT required. No need to feel pressured to think something up!

A lot of my characters don't have a ton of info listed about them yet, so how about this guy? He's one of my fav babs and the basic gist of his story is in there, so eh lol

Oh, it alternates. Zachary is a master of glamours first and foremost, so changing his hair colour is a very simple task to do. He does has a preference for the blond version, though.

And at least one alternate originally had red hair.

As for their natures? That's where this all gets a little bit complicated.

The Jubilant Aesthete is essentially a strange title of sorts, given to people who are empowered by some kind of "thoughtform", albeit sometimes twisting their personality in the process, but it also grants them nifty powers.

Their main theme is that they manufacture anomalous products and own the company, possibly a mark of sorts from what gave them their powers. What they make often has to do with their motivations or their personality, although the Mainlines (the ones who have the name Zachary/Zacharie) tend to lean around sweets, confectionery, and toys, although the reasons behind this will inevitably vary.

For example, at least one Zachary makes these products to test people and to see if they're good people, in his warped way. Another makes them so that there will be innocent-looking methods to take down evil entities. A third might make them as a sort of memento or a forgotten habit (perhaps they were a confectioner before they obtained the powers). So on and so forth.

As far as life in her orphanage goes, it was pretty quiet for her, aside from being teased by other girls for liking to look at insects. Freylise mainly kept to herself, since she didn't really have anyone to speak to about her fairly limited interests. This did give her time, however, to read all about insects, both native to the continent of Elicinea, and those native to other continents. She likely preferred it, since the squires and knights of Castle Bulound were fairly lecherous, as she'd discover later.

On the Elicinean continent, there's a somewhat sexist attitude that's common among most men, and this attitude isn't really as common in other cultures. As a result, nearly knights and squires of any Elicinean kingdom are men, and any female knight is looked on with some raised eyebrows. Even though Freylise shared a general quarters with other maids, there wasn't really all that much she could do to deal with advances made by the squires and knights of the castle. For daily life, she was mainly concerned with limiting her interactions with men, though sometimes she would watch other squires sparring against each other and take notes on their fighting styles, which is how she taught herself how to wield a rapier. No matter what she was tasked with cleaning and keeping up in the castle, the mundane tasks were rather easy for her, but the psychological strain of simply being a maid in the castle was much more difficult.

As for friends, she only had two, really. Adelaide was the knight Freylise was assigned to work under once the former had attained the rank of knight lieutenant. In Castle Bulound, knight lieutenants are assigned one maid upon attaining their new rank, determined at random. Maids are really nothing more than property here, but considering Adelaide herself is a woman, she and Freylise became fast friends as they both struggled against the chauvinistic culture they grew up in. Freylise met Adam soon after meeting Adelaide, and also became quick friends with him, as he was a much more sensitive man than she was used to dealing with.

After Freylise parts ways with Bulound (by way of an escape plan devised by Adelaide) and meets Z.Z., she's more than happy to put her self-taught fencing skills to use as they travel together. She doesn't have that much muscle, but her speed and precise strikes with her foil more than make up for her lack of raw strength. Freylise also fancies herself to be an amateur entomologist, which translates to her being deceptively knowledgeable about insect habitats, behaviors, and how best to mitigate the dangers of traveling in areas with similar dangerous creatures. She's a fan of being prepared!

Thanks for the questions, this was fun to write up.

Why does Kisselka dream of joining the circus; is it just the "running away" aspect that appeals to her, or does she actually like the circus? How does she help beggars when she sneaks out at night? What kind of tests did Selk perform before Mastur Leftus presumably took her away from her family? Will she see them again? ;__;

WolfenCaticus

Is the flame in his eye literal; i.e. was he in a fire at some point? Or does it represent something? Has he ever lost anyone close to him? What makes him act so cold/stern/no-nonsense; did something happen, or is that just how he thinks he can best protect everyone? What would happen if he showed the people he cares for that he does care?

Why doesnt MADDOX like lakes and oceans? Did something happen in a big body of water, or is it an innate fear? How did MADDOX and Silly meet? And why/how did Silly disappear? Did MADDOX have to give anything up to get Vivienne's help?

What kind of unspeakable things has Beya been asked to do, on the battlefield or off? What kind of magicks and experiments does she PREFER to do? When did Beya become a necromancer, and what led her towards that path? I just saw that she's a fae; does she ever return to fae society on occasion? Do the other fae know what she's doing in terms of necromancy; would it get her in trouble with her own kind? Does she like the king and queen?
