Question:How did Caiden and Will bond?
Answer: Caiden had already felt a bit sympathetic for him when he had first rescued him, because he had a heart for children in distress (since he felt a lot of guilt for leaving his unborn child fatherless, and because he basically raised his younger brother) so it wasn't too hard for Caiden to go a bit soft on Will. But Will had a heart condition, and after having talked to each other and Caiden learning about Will's life back at home, he panicked when that condition acted up and called in one of his "favors" to a man who's life he spared (a doctor) and realized he had become attached to this child. And also, helping Will become more confident in his new identity right before they got back to his home life (even taking a few extra days on the trip to do so) pretty much sealed the bond.
Question: When Caiden became a substitute teacher, what grade(s) did he teach? What subjects were his favorites to teach?
Answer: He taught a few different grades, but he usually kept coming back to the Junior and Sophomore classes of several schools in the area. He really liked teaching history, especially Industrial Revolution and such.
Question: What was Caiden's young life like, before high school?
Answer:It was relatively normal for the most part, being a regular kid and doing kid things. He wasn't the most outgoing, but people still knew him and he knew his way around. Though the one thing that marked his childhood was the fact that he couldn't really seem to bond with anyone but his youngest brother, Cricket. He loved his father, but more in a respectful and dignified way, rather than most father-son bonds you see. He didn't get along with his step-mother, and he didn't know his real mother. His other siblings/cousins were tolerated, but he didn't socialize much with them.
Question: What caused his social ineptitude, and what skewed his moral code? Was it his first kill, or something else?
Answer: He was already slightly socially inept to begin with (loner type, but overall still headstrong and confident) but the first kill did sorta do it for him. Not necessarily because he felt guilty for taking a life, but knowing he had to drop everyone he actually cared about so they didn't get caught in the crossfire. He got super paranoid about sharing most details of his like, so as not to let anyone put the pieces of the puzzle together. He also felt for the first few months after he left that he'd burst and let everything out if he let someone know anything about him, so he took to a "vow of silence" and it caused a bit of a "don't speak unless spoken to" coping mechanism in him.
Question:Does he now see Will as a permanent feature in his life, or does he worry that their time together is quickly coming to an end?
Answer: He does have his worries, but now that Sloane and Will have pretty much brought him into their tiny family, he doesn't get too antsy about it. Sloane has always kept him around, he doesn't feel like he'll do anything to have him taken from Will. And he'd do anything to keep Will and Cricket permanently in his life, now that things are starting to balance out.
