I just... I can never use generic American names like "Jessica" or "Ashley" etc for my OCs. It just feels awkward to me, honestly. Most typical American names I avoid using on my OCs simply because I know a lot of people with the same name, it's awkward. LOL
Hello! I just thought this would be funny... xD
When it comes to naming OCs, there are some names no matter how appropriate meaning-wise or how much I like them... I never use because it reminds me too much of another person.
Are any names unusable for you?
Feel free to share stories <3 Who knows, maybe a name unusable for someone else might be good for you!
Well I was searching for a name for my OC once and asked people on deviantart for a good name
A lot of people suggested Damion but that's already the name of my cousin's dog/chiwawa sooooo nope x'D
names that are too hard to pronounce or names that just don't sound good as names. i basically use anything for names,
Names of people I know personally :'D. Strangely though, I'm fine with using my own name, I guess? My name is Lexi, and I've used Lexy, Leksy, Alexy. But even though I really like the name Vincent, I don't feel comfortable using it since it's my father's and brother's name qwq //sigh
Ooh interesting. Thanks for sharing everyone! I can't use names of my family members, close friends and previous enemies I suppose because I had known them too well and my characters would become them or too associated with them unconsciously. XD
Some names are Hannah, Joshua, Cassiopeia, Aeon, Jenny, Stephanie, Nicole, Erin.. there's more but I'll stop there. XD
Just like most people, I have trouble with common American names. ;w; Like, you're never going to see a character of mine named 'Bob', PFFFFT--
However, names like: 'Elliot', 'Henry', 'Aiden' I can work with~
Most common American names. Certain ones such as Elliot, Angelo, Locke, Levi I can work with- but things like Elijah, Caden, Mark, very common names rlly dont do it for me. I also try to avoid Japanese names for characters unless I'm sure the character is going to be Japanese or of Japanese descent.
I tend to stay away from prominent names from fandoms - things like Dean, John, Jesse, Yuna, etc. - since they always seem to be more in connection with the other character's personality than my own's.
