Names you don't use (for your OCs)

I will not ever use the name Micheal, David or Grace.
Micheal is my horrible and abusive brother and David is his middle name.
Grace is my 'sister' who falsely accused my mother of sexually abusing her.

So I cannot stand them and will not ever use those names.  However I did make a character based off of Micheal who I named Greyson.

I can't use my own name for an OC - it gets way too weird and honestly I just hate the name anyway. I also rly don't like Christian/Chris or all the variations there of. Honestly names with religious overtones just aren't my jam when it comes to naming OCs. I just like to find a random first name, stick it to them and then work out the last name later based on their possible nationality/religion once I figure that out.

Yeah like most people are saying. Most common American names I,E, John, Mary, Joe, Steve...

Same thing with the naming, if it reminds me of a person I won't use that name

Just awful or basic names. Jessica(unless she's supposed to be a basic bitch), Gertrude, John(WAY TOO MANY OF THOSE IN THE WORLD), etc.

I can't really do generic names, but also can't use certain names I like just because of some people I've met in my life that ruined the name for me that I'll never be able to look at the same again for like 392727483826354 years

I cant use names of friends or family, and i don't like basic names or just names you'd find irl that aren't unique. EG you probably wouldn't find a Lilith, Wraith, Button, Nightmare,or an Abaddon, irl.

Majority of the time, I can't use names of friends or family I know of when it comes down to naming OCs; if it's a name I immediately think of that person, I tend to avoid using it. HOWEVER if it's a name used so often and I don't relate it to a specific person a whole like (ex. Michael, Nick) then it suddenly becomes alright to use. Although unlike some people in this thread, I do end up using rather basic names for OCS depending what their story is; if it relates closer to a quote-on-quote "realistic" story, a simple name like John or Delilah would be something I wouldn't mind using. If the story's more fantastical and all, I'll tend to stray away from generic names. 

Milo because I had a friend how was dating a a boy named Milo and he was such a jerk to them and lead my friend to so bad things to them self but thankfully they never meet in real life but finding about/witnessing what my friend did to them self broke me and made me anxiousness and made it hard fro me to trust peopl online and boys

My sister's name. Anything that's too obviously Greek pantheon themed (Apollo, Zeus, Hera, etc) or mythology-themed in general because I think they're used too often, 4+ word names because they're clunky to write, certain real word surnames (like ____ Coin, ____ Book, ____ Barn, all things I've seen characters named), because they sound really odd to me, most to all "unique", misspelled names, etc. I actually like most typical "American" names a lot (Theo, Jason, Neal, Julia...) but I don't use them very often, probably because I'm not from the US and don't have any specifically American-coded characters haha

thwew aren't too many names i would say no to complety,, i think any name over 5 syllables (Maybe even 4) is just too long for me unless there is a nice nickname

also of course any names of people ik in real life but also any names that make me think of another person like celebrity wise,,, although i am fine with using those names for middle names

also any fantasy names or names that just wouldn't make sense for our world lol
