Squid Kid! Rather OctoKid.
okay the title probably sounds weird, but what I mean is: characters who have hair-shaped stuff on their head but it's not actually hair. I love designs that have this and am curious to see more.
Torio here IC is an example, they have some kind of blood-like goop instead of hair (it's a thing that is fairly common for their (sub)species). Other examples of stuff instead of hair can be: fins, fire, water, clouds, slime, plants, anything goes as long as it's not actually hair ;3
all of my sylvari cause their hair is made of plants! branches, leaves, flowers, vines etc! but I especially like Fairith. his hair is like very long fern and it can curl up too!
Gingerhots hair is fire! I got a bunch of others that have special "hair" to
- Emptys hair is just slime, because he's a slime
- Skeleton of bad luck has...essence of bad luck, its purple and green and contains spiders, and its theyre magic spilling out of a crack in their skull so it's more of an injury
- Hellacoola Dogman is a person made out of cola and has Cola hair
- Pina Colado has...Pina Colado hair
- Raspbrainy has leaves for hair
- Seasalt song has saltwater hair
- Tropicool Dude has fruit punch hair
- Shrimpy Lulu has cocktail sauce for hair
- Skylark has clouds for hair
I've got a bunch of feather-people. They're from ten years ago when I was an edgy little teenager who thought that "angst=developed character" and thus don't have character sheets. I'll link some pictures. :D
In the beginning there was just Keevia (1 2 3 4). He had a crappy backstory that resulted in him ending up in prison and being bought out of death row by a local nobleman-wizard. He got some wings (based on a snow owl) as the result of magical experimentation (his hair turning to feathers being a side-effect of that) and became the wizards' loyal servant. Because I worried that a "character who can fly and has no downsides" would be "too OP" I then proceeded to cover half his body in burnscars and take half of his wing - guy got hit by a fireball while on an assassination mission against a rival wizard.
Then there came Ario (1 2 3). He also had a crappy backstory, this time involving his parents being part of an unpopular sect and was saved from death row by the same nobleman-wizard. Has the feathers and wings of a barn owl. He was essentially placed as Keevias' apprentice, which the man didn't like for he worried that Ario was being groomed to be his replacement. Ario for that matter was completely oblivious and took to Keevia like he was a surrogate brother.
And finally there was Denaerus (1 2 ). Hair and bodyhair replaced with feathers. Wings and eyes of an eagle-owl. He's an experiment by the rival mage who cost Keevia his wing and essentially said mages' unwilling thrall. I think he had a crappy backstory.
And actually there was also Aires, who was supposed to have been an NPC demigod in the same setting as the others. Can't recall anything about her other than that she was meddling with magitech wing researchers because of...reasons? The woman was mostly an excuse to draw/doll jingly, tightly decorated wings.
I'd write stories with these guys and their two feuding wizard-master, as well as use them as roleplay characters. I was soooo proud of the whole "feathers as hair" concept as well as the soap operas I concocted and now all of it just makes me cringe. I should redraw them some day for old times sake.
Morrisey has tentacle hair!
Bombboy has wax for hair!
Paisley has tea for hair!
Sox has a...tail..? for hair
irene is a robot who, deciding she wanted to be cuter and more approachable, stuck a mop head on her head, tied it up in a bun, and called it hair
it gets the job done, anyway
