Childhood: Rhodes was not from a wealthy family; their parents were tradespeople. Rhodes was fairly skilled compared to their peers, though not the best. They did not receive the best education, but their reliability and skill with fighting put them at an advantage.
Adulthood: Rhodes got further soldier training as an adult, and eventually endeared themselves to Cirrus and Rayleigh, who hired them on to guard Coriolis.
