Argal I'm pinging you as it's been over a month. I hope you are okay with this! There is a guide near the end with what he is saying if you don't understand
Rhubarb knocked on the door. The door was opened for him and he happily strutted in. "So'y fo' co'i'g in ju' li'e t'at, I t'ough' I woul' su'pi'se you!" Rhubarb said with his hands at his hips. He thought that maybe J would need a bit of cheering up, especially after learning more about her. If he could, he would have felt bad. Instead, he felt a burning desire to cheer her up and make her into a positive little gremlin like himself. He couldn't see anything as nearly nothing in the room was moving, aside from the occasional flutter of one of her pigeons in the background. Even when they did move, it was too dark for Rhubarb to see almost at all. He decided to let his hearing be his guide, like how he was in the ocean at night. He had a faint smell of sea salt on him.
"Why am I 'e'e? We', you loo' li'e you coul' use a frien'!" Happily explained Rhubarb as he walked around J's apartment. He carefully learned the layout quickly by hearing where the echo of his footsteps were coming from. It explained why he was walking around the apartment so much. "I' rea'y da' in 'e'e, why do' you tur' on so'e li's?" Rhubarb asked, now walking up to J. "Oh, you do' li'e li's? T'at ist . . . I' hur's you? T'at ist- T'at ist new . . ." Rhubarb seemed almost ashamed on how he had already forgotten about how poor J's eyes were when it came to lighting. "We'e twi's! Bo'h wi'h bad mem'ry!" The leviathan laughed, trying to make the best of the poor situation he had put them both in.
Eventually, Rhubarb and J made their way to the bedroom. Rhubarb was gently shaking his head back and forth so he could see around him. The room was gently lit with aromatic candles and a large bird cage near the corner, hosting some crows inside. "Wow, you li'e bir's? I t'ink t'at t'ey are coo'. Do t'ey habe na'es or do t'ey ju' exis'?" He asked once more like a curious child. He yawned and stretched, soon laying himself on the floor. He was gestured towards the bed, though he shook his head no. "I' no' my roo', you shoul' slee' on your be'. So'eone who le's so'on' slee' o'er dese'ves be'er t'an t'e floo'."
"I fou' so'e stuff t'e o'er day abou' you." Rhubarb stated, looking up towards J. He took his hoodie off. "A lo' o' i' was trie' 'o be hidden, bu' I fou' i'. I don' li'e how you hur' peo'e, bu' t'ey seem' 'o no' li'e you much. Why can' you ju' wo' i' ou'? I know t'ey we'e ba' and mea', bu' you do' see' li'e t'at! You see' ver' ni'e!" The sea creature reassured the 'human.' He had on a wide innocent smile, one that could warm even the darkest of hearts. "I' you wa', I can co'e alo' an' try 'o ge' t'em to li'en an' you a' ca' be frien's!" Rhubarb blindly suggested as if J hadn't been through hell and back by the ones who had hurt her. In his eyes, he saw an opportunity to bring people together despite anything, and he believed he could undo years of abuse just by trying to be friendly with one another.
Some time had past and Rhubarb was getting tired. He had talked himself nearly to sleep, though his positive attitude knew not what sleepiness was. "You ca' slee' on your be', I pro'se. I li'e t'e floo'!" Rhubarb was using his hoodie as a blanket and made a pillow out of some spare clothes he found laying around. It wasn't the most comfy, but it worked for now. Plus, he more so wanted to make sure she was comfortable in this situation. "I t'ink we go 'o slee' now, i' ge'i'g la'e. Goo'ni'h, J! I ho'e you ha'e grea' dreams!" The leviathan wished J as he then rested his head on his makeshift pillow and closed his eyes, drifting to sleep.
I know this character is near impossible to understand, so here is a translated guide to what he is saying, in chronological order.
"Sorry for coming in just like that, I thought I would surprise you!"
"Why am I here? Well, I thought you could use a friend!" "It's really dark in here, why don't you turn in some lights?" "Oh, you don't like lights? That is . . . It hurts you? That is- That is new . . ." "We're like twins! Both with bad memory!"
"Wow, you like birds? I think that they are cool. Do they have names or do they just exist?" "It's not my room, you should sleep on your bed. Someone who let's someone sleep over deserves better than the floor."
"I found some stuff the other day about you." "A lot of it was tried to be hidden, but I found it. I don't like how you hurt people, but they don't seem to like you very much. Why can't you just work it out? I know they were bad and mean, but you don't seem like that! You seem very nice!" "If you want, I can come along and try to get them to listen and you can be friends!"
"You can sleep on your bed, I promise. I like the floor!" "I think we go to sleep now, it's getting late. Goodnight, J! I hope you have great dreams!"
NP: Rhubarb's whole base is underwater, though there is an alternative entrance to get in from land. His base is very boxy in shape and very greyscale, with the occasional pop of bright orange. It definitely has a lot of nautical themes to it and there are many windows around the place. The beds are comfy and there are two: One big one for him, and a smaller sized one for you character. Go crazy in the response, I wanna see! Also, do ping me please.
