I don't think my reply is particularly long, but I'm spoilering it nonetheless since there are (non-graphic) implications + mentions of self-harm!! also, there's a brief mention of emeto if that's a concern. please tread with caution if toggling this box!!
You bet your sweet ass that Beatrice dragged her not-son - well, her and Rochester's not-son - over to the nearest clinic after she read the latest batch of works that he gave her.
In hindsight, maybe the journalist should've realized that something was very, very wrong sooner. And the fact that she didn't, until now, was causing her to mentally kick herself in the ass while she glanced over at the youth and gave him a deep frown, one that emanated concern but also ended up emphasizing the wrinkles on her face.
"I know that this is a bit sudden, but it's for your best interest," she then drawled to him with a furrowed brow, "I don't expect anything particularly revolutionary overnight, or even in that short of a term, but..." Beatrice trailed off to carefully rub her temples. How could I? Thoughts ran through her head again while she struggled to remember what he had written in those papers- The ones that weren't even that long ago, judging by how freshly marked they seemed; it would've been a different story if they were faded out, with the words prone to being lost to time thanks to how even the most modern of graphites and inks tended to gradually fade...
After a period of silence, Beatrice grunted in an attempt to reassure Black, "But... That asides... If it makes you feel any better, this isn't going to be a formal check-in by any means. I know you've been doing well under myself and my wife-" Was he now? Would he have written something like that if he was "doing well?" What if you're just making things worse? "Uhhh..." she muttered while adjusting the brim of her sunhat, which she refused to take off even when indoors.
"... You're certainly not fine if you're writing about sitting in your own vomit, as well as using coffee to... Well..." She trailed off again, if only because she suspected that the subsequent words would've been obvious for the both of them. Beatrice did, however, step up to the other party and carefully eyed his expression - not that she expected him to lash out at her by any means, but just in case... "I figured for a while that there was something troubling you, but in all honesty... I never expected it to be this serious. And no, once more, don't tell me that you're fine. You're clearly not, and I'm starting to get worried. Each time you say that, I only get more so."
Then she leaned back in her seat, only occasionally moving her hand over to the comfort blanket she had allowed Black to bring along for his sake. In all honesty, Beatrice was having second thoughts about bringing him over in the first place, because she had the sinking feeling that this entire appointment was just making things worse for the very charge she was supposed to protect. Not just for Rochester's sake, but for her own as well-
"I'm not trying to discourage you from writing out your emotions, of course," Beatrice also clarified with a wave of her hand, "In fact, I'd rather have you indulge in that over... More harmful methods of venting. Hurting yourself, if I want to be more direct." She paused, both tensely and awkwardly. "I'm just going to make sure the physical signs are at least decent, and then that's it. Nothing formal. No admissions, no complicated therapy session." Beatrice sat there, blinking. "Okay? I mean... Are you all right with that, sir?"
@ NP: apologies for the copy-paste from the last time I posted as her, but... I like being consistent in my notes fgbegbeb- also!! feel free to go for her middle-aged version if you want, but please lmk so that I can respond appropriately!!
middle-aged Beatrice would likely end up in the hospital to visit a patient who's relevant to an ongoing investigation, or just... beaten up from picking on someone who turned out to be stronger than anticipated. feel free to go wild with the gore and severity if hurting Beatrice; she's rather resilient, though, so it takes a lot to faze her both physically and mentally.
default Beatrice is similar, except that she could also end up in the hospital for more menial injuries. it's also easier for her to get seriously injured due to her age and therefore decrease in strength, but she'll still act standoffish and defiant if offered help. try not to go too crazy with the gore if hurting this version of Beatrice. she may still be a tiny bit aggressive, but she's definitely a bit more restrained and would back down from a fight if she knows she's not going to win it.
I'll also try my best to do a follow-up for NP or ELSE.
