Listen to the song from the user above you!

Posted 7 years, 1 month ago (Edited 6 years, 5 months ago) by Aikaikaik

Heya! Figured I'd start up a thread like this as I abolsutely love finding various music, and noticed there isn't a thread for this here yet! Plus, thinking on it, a good few of my OCs are inspired by some songs and music in general, and it never hurts to be on the hunt for more music to check out!

Basic Rules:

1. The person above you will link you a song to listen to!

2. Give your thoughts on it - is it something you liked, or is it just not your cup of tea? Did it inspire you to make an OC on the fly? Feel free to express this as much or as little as you want! (Please be respectful and civil in your reply, though.)

3. In the same post, link a song for the next person to listen to!

[edit] 4. If you're next in line, please claim before going ahead; I totally missed out due to IRL things going on, I realize some people might of been Ninja'd! So let's try to avoid being ninja'd from now on <:"D

EDIT; PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING: Heya! I've gotten a few concerns from people that go through this thread that some may of been a bit disrespectful about one's tastes in music. Music is something it's obvious not everyone is going to like the same thing, but I must remind you to PLEASE, be respectful to the person above you when having shared music. If it isn't your thing, please be kind and simply say "It wasn't my cup of tea, sorry. I'm glad you like it though!" or something nice along those lines. Having someone be told the song you chose (which might even mean a lot to you on your own terms and reasons behind it) is horrible or nasty, can be a bit rude. Let's do our best to keep polite and civil here while we all jam out to some awesome tunes! Thanks!

All good? Let's get started! I'll link over a song for the first person to start things off!

First song: The Maddest Kind of Love, by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy

AlleycatIrony

i'm truthfully not really a fan of this kind of music usually, but there's smthn abt this one that's kind of catchy hahaha
no doubt it's gonna get stuck in my head :'D

since birds of tokyo is a pretty meaningful band to me (esp their universes album), have this song (it was so hard to pick like... just one)

colorful

OOOOSHDSGTF I LOVE THE PERCUSSION HERE!! I gotta love the voices so much as well, guess I'm adding this to my peanut butter jelly jam :3c

as a placeholder while i write my reply, how about dancing baby human by kenji ootsuki and fumihiko kitsu? but if you don't want untranslated japanese songs, tryspiral by dustz

YunaNoire

That was really cool! I've heard of Welcome to the NHK before and if you had let me listen to this without telling me what it was from, I probably wouldn't have been able to guess that it was from that. But knowing that and comparing it to what little I know about WTHNHK, it kind of makes perfect sense? There's a strangeness to it and an oppressive, dark feel to it. The heavy metal style sells kind of hellish vibe that it has going for it!

I'll place the song for my reply here just now! Time to post one of my favorite Vocaloid songs Task ft. 初音ミク "Emotions" キドアイラク! The song just means a lot to me, right down to the lyrics and how it sounds. I love the mix of guitar, piano and 8-bit and how it all blends together into something really wonderful! Hopefully you'll enjoy it too!

I have to admit that music like this isn't something that I listen to! But I can see where it would be appealing for people, it hits all the fun beats a song should! It's just not the kind of beats I find myself fully enjoying. Still! It was a lovely song all the same and wonderful that you shared it at all! <3

C2C - Delta for the next person!

The beat is so good, so catchy...

These songs were my jam back in high school...

I loved it! The lyrics are really good... & the MV was great to watch!

I'd like to sort of, kind of force FFXV on the user below haha XD

Please listen to Somnus by Yoko Shimomura

I hope you like it as much as I do... It gives me a lot of inspiration to write & puts me in a melancholic mood...

7pgriwE.pngYou're not wrong there anon, the vocals fit the song and the piano so much! Although her voice is something you could find in most English songs, there's something that made this song unique.

It really underlines the mood of the song, it's saddening that it's pretty short, though. The instrumentals ft. the "anybody anybody" part 2 minutes later are the best, and I keep on repeating that part there. I love how everything is so expressive here, it's a good song! I'm glad that you put this song in the thread because this is so pleasing to the ears.

For the next user, Light Falls (or Hikariful) by Kalafina? Preferring the next user is someone who hasn't seen Madoka Magica yet haha

Here's the lyrics btw:

Light

A song like a dream
Wets your cheek
The soft sky
Going into the distance
With just one little heart
With still trembling wings

To tomorrow

To a nostalgic yesterday
A small promise bound by our fingers
Will be fulfilled
To the end of time
The day I get to see you, my heart
Is full of nothing but that wish
Until a distant future

Because even if I end up nowhere

Within the light that illuminates all
I'll always be by your side

All too fleeting

A world that seems like it'll disappear
But just knowing you're here
Makes me want to protect it

I close my eyes in silent prayer

And soon it reaches the final
Peace, so
The morning brightens

Light

A song like a dream
Illuminates you...

Is this a song that played in Madoka? It sounds pretty somber yet comforting in a sort of way. So, I assume, if it was, it was played during a sad part? Or perhaps in the credits?? It seems fairly final. (Btw the link you sent didn't work for me :C But I found it). AH. It's pretty nice and soothing but carries a power to it. The lyrics are pretty sad too and gosh, I really like songs like this usually but this one wasn't extremely doing it for me ah!

Charlie's Inferno by That Handsome Devil!

I love this song and naturally, the singer is the voice headcanon for my own OC, Lucifer.

FriskyMeowlord

It's all me cause I'm not a cheerful person in the slightest, but I really can't stand upbeat music. gomen. But I did listen to it and looked through the lyrics.

Seems like a guy who did the easy good deeds that he could. Like he settled for being an alright guy in his field, but didn't try to tackle any big issues or put himself in situations where he had to do more. He kept himself comfortable. Like he did the good her was comfortable with doing. Sometimes along those lines. I'm sure the demons are laughing the more he insists that he doesn't belong there, because that's legit was 95% of those people there are gonna do.

Now for something completely different. Rakuen ~ Secret Garden from Wolf's Rain. Pretty sure it was the first anime I watched all the way through. Had some tears.

Aikaikaik

I don't typically listen to this sorta stuff, though it's very beautiful! It has such a soft and warm feeling when listening to it, and definitely paints a cool image in thought while listening for sure :") Totally recommending that song to those that want that whimsical, yet so flowing and beautiful kind of music to go alongside perhaps writing up a story for some ocs!

In the meanwhile, I've had this song on repeat for a good while now - figured I'll share it :"D

also Skulltopus dUDE I LOVE THAT SONG!! So glad to see there's others out there that get some inspiration n' whatnot out of that band! :D

Caine

During the very first seconds of the intro I was like "nah I don't think this is my style" but then it slows down a little and picks up and then it's a very catchy song!! I like the jumping kind of rhythm to it too, melody wise sounds like something I'd love to listen while exploring a new city during summer while walking around ; o ; < 3

I'm 100% aware this kind of music is not everyone's genre but I'm in love with FAKE TYPE and Devil's Wedding has a really good rhythm

LemonZesty

I don't know how I've never come across this song, but it's amazing ♡
This is one of my favorite genres, I've actually listened to a couple FAKE TYPE songs before (Nightmare Parade and Urban Caravan), so I definitely give this a thumbs up!
ahh I love the rap parts ♡

For the next person, Rosetta by Mili!
