Listen to the song from the user above you!

Posted 7 years, 28 days ago (Edited 6 years, 4 months ago) by Aikaikaik

Heya! Figured I'd start up a thread like this as I abolsutely love finding various music, and noticed there isn't a thread for this here yet! Plus, thinking on it, a good few of my OCs are inspired by some songs and music in general, and it never hurts to be on the hunt for more music to check out!

Basic Rules:

1. The person above you will link you a song to listen to!

2. Give your thoughts on it - is it something you liked, or is it just not your cup of tea? Did it inspire you to make an OC on the fly? Feel free to express this as much or as little as you want! (Please be respectful and civil in your reply, though.)

3. In the same post, link a song for the next person to listen to!

[edit] 4. If you're next in line, please claim before going ahead; I totally missed out due to IRL things going on, I realize some people might of been Ninja'd! So let's try to avoid being ninja'd from now on <:"D

EDIT; PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING: Heya! I've gotten a few concerns from people that go through this thread that some may of been a bit disrespectful about one's tastes in music. Music is something it's obvious not everyone is going to like the same thing, but I must remind you to PLEASE, be respectful to the person above you when having shared music. If it isn't your thing, please be kind and simply say "It wasn't my cup of tea, sorry. I'm glad you like it though!" or something nice along those lines. Having someone be told the song you chose (which might even mean a lot to you on your own terms and reasons behind it) is horrible or nasty, can be a bit rude. Let's do our best to keep polite and civil here while we all jam out to some awesome tunes! Thanks!

All good? Let's get started! I'll link over a song for the first person to start things off!

First song: The Maddest Kind of Love, by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy

Kenmai

the comments are right ffhdsk this definitely reminds me of tim burtons corpse bride. Its a good song and i realize i heard it once before from one of my friends, but i probably wouldve liked it more when i was a few years younger. not somehing id be mega into now ;w;

but heres the full version

colorful

AAAAA I HAVEN'T SEEN BALLROOM E YOUKOSO BUT I'VE DEFINITELY HEARD THIS SONG! I was looking for it for ages, and I found it now! THIS TIME IT'S GOING TO MY PLAYLIST!! Overall, the instrumentals and voices are what I usually look for and holy heck, this isn't the full song???

Kalafina makes me mega gay is such an amazing trio, honestly-- Yuki Kajiura's instrumentals blend with their music so much ;_; I haven't personally watched or read Kuroshitsuji, but my soul's sold to Kalafina, so how about Kagayaku Sora no Shijima ni wa (In the Stillness of the Shining Sky)? please play this on my funeral by the way

as usual i'm putting lyrics for those who don't want untranslated songs lmao (source)

When you are overflown with cold tears,
and when the time is ripe,
you'd probably have sought out light,
and shattered darkness.

The Persian-red singing voice
slowly dyes your chest the same color,
as if it's an eternally yearning
and swiftly dispersing melody.

In the stillness of the shining sky
is my backyard garden.
Some day you will finally reach
the other side of the shore.

The night's darkness, while guarding the moon,
whispers along a lullaby, on and on,
until the eyes of the children,
who no longer cry, become soaked in dreams.

Farewell...
Since I will never see you a second time,
it feels like my chest is being hollowed out
by the night, dearly and madly.

In the stillness of the shining sky
is your home of return.
Beyond the darkness where the moon sinks
is a narrow path that leads you
back to the beginning.

Oh, Amanda Lee has an English cover. It's nice, but can't get really used to it since Kalafina's voices are what makes their songs theirs but i admit that i sold my second soul to amanda lee's cover of magia

AHHH Jack Johnson, it's been so long! This music is really great for winding down and I have forgotten about it all till just now. This was a lovely surprise to be linked to and I truly appreicate it. This song is so nice...

OOPS I WAS LATE. SO UH. I'll leave my comment there and comment on the Tricot.

I don't know if I'm a huge fan of guitar's like that? Hah; It sounds like an anime opening theme though without looking at the music video. It's not my jive really, sadly, but I wont go into it beyond that! Thank you for sharing though!!

How about Some Electro Swing! (I think this is my second time posting an electro swing song not sure) It's a fun fast beat song I think!

fairytopia

I love this song!! I haven't heard this remix of it before, it's really good! I'm gonna add it to my playlists :o It's such a catchy song, I love the chorus! Reminds me of older music as well, and she has such a sophisticated but still lively sounding song!

To the next user, how about New Heroes ? It's my favourite song at the moment!

Claim!  Gosh, somehow my claim posted twice? ANYWHOOOO

dUDE I LOVE COPYCAT! I was in the EXACT same position as you a little while back - i couldn't stop listening to it :"D It's so catchy, and it's really fun to listen and draw to!

Thanks for sharing! :D

SPEAKING OF throwing music on repeat, For the next person, I've had this on at a CONSTANT the past week leading up to now wheez e s - of course with other songs from Oingo Boingo, but this one in particular i just KEPT COMING BACK TO! It's just so much fun to listen to while at work haha

AlleycatIrony

ok while this isn't my kind of music it's pretty catchy and it's also giving my major vibes for one of my bf's OCs in one of our AUs - i'm gonna send it to him and see what he thinks haha, i feel it suits the character pretty well tbh

OK 11 years? and this is still a bop honestly, my fucking jam as a kid

YunaNoire

I can see what you mean?? Holy shit. It's got a real toe tapping quality to it and I can see why you'd be so into it when you were younger! I think if I heard this song when I was a teen, i'd probably love it in the same way! I thought the little pause in the middle, imitating a heart stopping, was just really clever and neat too.

I've been catching up with My Hero Academia recently and honestly Opening 3 is such a fucking great tune. Definitely my favorite of the openings so far!

aerilurus

Not too big on BNHA, but holy cow I'm such a sucker for opening songs with guitar + piano combo riffs. This might just persuade me to watch it, haha.

Since I'm a big weenie for great OSTs in general, Voice of No Return from NieR: Automata isn't too exciting or hyping up, but it gives me such chills!
