Listen to the song from the user above you!

Posted 7 years, 1 month ago (Edited 6 years, 5 months ago) by Aikaikaik

Heya! Figured I'd start up a thread like this as I abolsutely love finding various music, and noticed there isn't a thread for this here yet! Plus, thinking on it, a good few of my OCs are inspired by some songs and music in general, and it never hurts to be on the hunt for more music to check out!

Basic Rules:

1. The person above you will link you a song to listen to!

2. Give your thoughts on it - is it something you liked, or is it just not your cup of tea? Did it inspire you to make an OC on the fly? Feel free to express this as much or as little as you want! (Please be respectful and civil in your reply, though.)

3. In the same post, link a song for the next person to listen to!

[edit] 4. If you're next in line, please claim before going ahead; I totally missed out due to IRL things going on, I realize some people might of been Ninja'd! So let's try to avoid being ninja'd from now on <:"D

EDIT; PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING: Heya! I've gotten a few concerns from people that go through this thread that some may of been a bit disrespectful about one's tastes in music. Music is something it's obvious not everyone is going to like the same thing, but I must remind you to PLEASE, be respectful to the person above you when having shared music. If it isn't your thing, please be kind and simply say "It wasn't my cup of tea, sorry. I'm glad you like it though!" or something nice along those lines. Having someone be told the song you chose (which might even mean a lot to you on your own terms and reasons behind it) is horrible or nasty, can be a bit rude. Let's do our best to keep polite and civil here while we all jam out to some awesome tunes! Thanks!

All good? Let's get started! I'll link over a song for the first person to start things off!

First song: The Maddest Kind of Love, by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy

BewareOfTheMenace

I am listening to Funkle Phil and wow, it's an amazing song! Love the funky upbeat sound with the rock riffs on it! The lyrics are hilariously funny and I love the guy's voice because he sounds like Will Wood. The guitar solo makes me think of blues before heading for more alt rock/punk sound and I love it. This song sounds like something outta indie animation series and I would definitely watch it. I love the song overall.

Here's a playlist for my boring slice-of-life high school project The Kids Are Alright. Most of the songs are either indie or pop-punk because they're usually gives me high school vibes but enjoy.

Nicleotidez

Listening to A-Punk by Vampire Weekend right now, and it's just such a great song to vibe to! I can definitely feel the high school vibes from it, makes me imagine a rather chaotic yet fun scene during lunch break or right after school ends, or just a bunch of close friends hanging out and having the time of their lives. High school may be tough for many, but this song reminds me that there'll always be some fun moments during these hard times. The playlist is overall very enjoyable as well! I might be listening to it from time to time.

NP: Here are a bunch of random songs for you to select from, most of them being inspirations for a few of my OCs:

(Country) Hard Times Come Again No More - 2nd South Carolina String Band (The inspiration behind this artwork. Also one of Cam's main themes.)
(Rock) Father to a Son - Green Day (Just a song that I found fitting for Paulina's complicated relationship with her father.)
(Rock) Surfin' U.S.A. - The Beach Boys (Serves as the inspiration for Stel.)
(Instrumental, OST) Pokémon Uranium: Battle! Apocalypse CURIE - Emdasche (Originally a fan-made battle theme for Magearna, I inspired Magearnic's design and personality off this soundtrack.)
(Instrumental, Classical) Flocks a Mile Wide - Christopher Tin (Surprisingly serves as the inspiration of Martha due to the context behind the music.)

kleptomaniac

(Listened to Beelzeblub)

Honestly, I don't like it that much. I've never liked old-style video game music - give me phone game music, Pokémon music, heck, Mario music(the new ones) anyday. I prefer new over old, is what I'm saying here.

Also, not going to lie here, the song kind of lowkey reminded me of the horror genre and I didn't listen through the whole song - it creeped me out TvT

Anyways, the beats themselves are pretty good and catchy, and I have to admit, its kinda-sorta in my head now. Just not my cup of tea.

____

For the person below, I have several suggestions! Feel free to listen to all of them or just one, they all win my heart lol

(I know I literally just said I don't like horror, but there are exclusions I'm sorry-)

Monsters by All Time Low - Highly recommend (It's rock, not sure 'bout exactly what kind lol)

Sweet but Psycho by Ava Max (pop)

Butterfly Core by Valsaeh (Japanese song, it's an anime song - pop, I think)

Hide and Seek by Lizz Robinett (Nightcore music/Horror)

BewareOfTheMenace

Listen to Monsters, the song is pretty enjoyable. The drums reminds me of When The Levee Breaks by Led Zeppelin, surprised to see blackbear and Demi Lovato appearing in this song, and the guitar riff is cool too. The song is pretty catchy and fun to listen overall.

NP: I made a "soundtrack" playlist for my boring ol' high school slice-of-life story The Kids Are Alright and most songs are pop-punk or indie rock because they usually fits the high school vibes so enjoy.

poicyss

From your playlist, I chose to listen to Tek It - as I recognized the name but realized I had never listened to the original version of the song and just remixes.
I liked the remixes already, but I honestly think I like the original better? Especially in the context of a slice of life story... feels like an anime ending where they're riding in a car looking out the window at a sunset, y'know? I mean, maybe that is a little bit because they're in a car on the album cover, but still. This is very much a car song to me.

Englishman in New York - Sting

CrzzyCat

Not something i'd listen to usually, but def going into my playlist!! A very catchy song, gonna be good for background music in art school

This because it's really cool and gives me goosebumps

v I'm really glad you liked it hehe!! Definitely right about the vibes, as someone who had played the game the song [and the fight itself] really does give those feelings xD

capn_oz

alright, ive heard of this game but never played it and know nothing about it. this honestly at first just sounds creepy and sinister. this is the kind of stuff youd hear in a cool looking game targeted for kids and just be jumpscared with this ost for like the final boss. it feels like somewhere in the song you start to get a hold of things you know? it becomes more upbeat like as if theres more hope, idk im bad at explaining this ahaha. surprisingly once again the song becomes to start sounding less scary, and even really encouraging. its cool. it feels like theres a story going on, like the exposition, rising action climax and all that. this songs to me honestly feels like being forced to fight something,, and just wanting to escape it. even if the music becomes to start sounding less sinister the creepy voices in the end are there to remind you the beginning of the music haha.. i honestly rlly like it, and i think it fits one of my ocs :D

here r 2 of my favorites

BewareOfTheMenace

Okay, this song sounds like if Lady Gaga is a guy. I thought this is a Elvis Presley cover but apparently, it's not. Love the drums and the synth like sounds, and the guy's vocal too. This is a J-pop song but was sung by a Swedish dude, that's cool

NP: Here's a soundtrack playlist for my slice of life high school story The Kids Are Alright. Most of the songs are pop punk, indie, and emo because they usually fits the high school vibes.

catpin

I listened to Awkward Conversations, and i actually liked it alot! i think the echo effect(?) used on the singer's voice was really nice. the singer also sounds like they just stopped crying and decided to start singing right after, and i think that adds to the song's charm alot. the guitar in the background was absolutely fire though! that was my favourite part from the song lol. one thing I didn't like was how during the chorus, the instruments get really messy and overpower the singer's voice, but that might just be a me thing since I have some trouble with audio processing lol

NP: HIGHSCHOOL DROPOUT - Paycheck, the word "high school" reminded me of this song!

bizzybagel

I like this song! It's not what I would usually listen to but I'm glad I discovered it! I love the way the chorus sounds, I think it speeds up a little during that? I don't think many songs do that, its neat. I'm def adding this to my playlist, I would not have discovered it otherwise.

Fading Kitten Syndrome by Roar I listen to this thing on loop help
