Ask 5 Questions to the Above Person's OC!

Posted 6 years, 11 months ago (Edited 6 years, 10 months ago) by isopods

I've seen a couple of threads where people can ask OCs questions.  However, I thought it might be interesting if those questions covered more of the character's development without having to post multiple times to receive multiple questions.

Rules and Guidelines

  1. Please comment in-character.  The character you post as will be the next character to be asked five questions.
  2. Once your character is asked the questions from the next poster, please edit your initial comment to answer the questions.
  3. Please ask questions that contribute, at least somewhat, to the character's development.
  4. Please read the character's profile and the person's profile before asking any questions.

1) What exactly makes Alois' existense full of pain and misery?
2) Does Alois actually have a defined personality or does it contradict itself with every interaction, debunking every past personality traits one could have drawn from a previous interaction?
3) Is Alois all-knowing or are there limits? Could Alois know his own fate awaiting?
4) Why is Alois interested in seeing the strong ones bend and break instead of "feeding" of the misery of the already broken?
5) Which exact urges does Alois have and how are they executed? Can Alois resist these urges since Alois is paradox?

Eli Dinlos

1. Has he ever changed someone's truth/reality and the regretted it? Could he do something about it? Would he? Did he?

2.  Is there other people like Enya who know the true him? Now or in the future?

3. Have people he care about seen his darker side? When? How? Did it change his or their perception of him?

4. Has there been any smaller long term consequences of his lies? Does he know about them?

5. What drove him to act like he did as an Architect? When people found him disgusting, why he didn't clean his act?

6. What made him return to Enya after fifteen years?

7. What does the future hold for him in character or ooc?

Some sillies for fun:

- What's the worst apple thing he's eaten?

- What is his proudest gift-giving moment?

- Where is he on this meme?

- What is the ugliest piece of clothing he'd ever seen?

- Does he have any guilty pleasures?

NP: Eli doesn't take himself too seriously, you shouldn't either, so no need to ask super deep questions. :,D I mean, you can. But no pressure to do so.

1. I offer to pay a large amount for one of his paintings, cash in hand, excitedly. What does Eli do?
Eli would sell you his paintings and quickly run with the money before you'd come to your senses. He's shy to show his work but money is money.

2. Eli unexpectedly gets the day off from work, but no one else is available. How does he spend his day?
He'd go to the movie and stuff himself up in sushi buffet and probably text his friends how good everything is but would be so much better if he wasn't alone.

3 Most dangerous magic event he's investigated? On the flip side, LEAST dangerous one?
Least is like 80% of every call he gets. Usually it's like a little pocket of raw magic that just pops causing a mild phenomena. Like one lady's garden flowers changed color according to the song playing in the radio. Most dangerous, though, Eli finds the untrained users the most dangerous. Magic is a tool, so as with any tool people have to learn how to use it, and if they don't they can hurt themselves or the others. At the very top on danger meter is the extremely powerful creatures/people who have no clue how to control their power.

4. How much importance does his appearance have to him?
Appearance in general is very important to him since he's mute and for him his looks are his voice. And he likes to be loud. Does his appearance have to be just as it is? No, it changes as Eli does but it matters to him how he looks.

5 Any type of magic/mage he fears above all?
Eli couldn't do what he does if he was afraid of magic. But anything that alters either time or reality scares him the most. There are things mortals shouldn't touch.

Thank you for your questions! These were great!

1. When it comes to loving cursed things, does that also include liking cursed memes? - Void isn't very familiar with memes, but he would love them.

2. Is there any condition where using magic would be off-limits to him? - Not really. Magic is baked into most things in his world. It would be like using tools or items being forbidden for us - we use objects all the time, just like people in his world use magic all the time.

3. Does he use Discord? What about social media? - Nope. He lives in the wilderness as a druid with Internet, electricity, or many humans or other humanoids.

4. How would he react if a human expressed fear in his presence? - He's kind of used to it. While his kind are known as civil spirit guides, some people are still terrified of them because they are curse-casting undeads from the haunted wilderness.

5. Has he ever got into an argument or an altercation with the undead? - Yup, some ghosts are just violent and angry. Not so much argumentative, but just coming out of the grave absolutely swinging.

1. How does he feel about his stims? Does he attempt to mask often?

2. How did he conquer his fear of the dark? Or at the very least, how does he attempt to combat it?

3. What was his motive to join the military?

4. How/when did he first start experimenting with his gender expression?

5. In what ways has he used Auberon as a test subject? Do the others know about it?

6. How is his relationship with his students? Is he good at building connections with them?

Answers under the cut for length! Thank you so much for asking, I really spent a while thinking on some of these.

1. For Kai and Audemus' relationship, what is the most common form of acceptable violence between them? (Props if you can answer if it's sexual or not too)

The way it usually goes is something like this: Audemus is pent up, Kai pushes his buttons by digging into some insecurity or another. Audemus retaliates with a verbal warning, Kai either leaves him be or disregards the warning and continues to push Audemus. Audemus snaps when pushed to his limit and lashes out physically, sometimes accidentally or intentionally killing Kai in the process. Having channeled his anger into something, Audemus is in essence defused and summarily heals/resurrects Kai. At times this counts as some weird, twisted sort of flirting; other times Audemus needs to be alone to cool off for a while.

The other facet of their violence can come into play intimately, but I won’t go into it. What they do is neither safe nor sane, but it is consensual. And Audemus can reverse any and all damage he might do.

Their relationship is monstrous but they are very careful to keep it to themselves. From Audemus’ perspective (though he would never say it): “There is a monster inside of me and Kai feeds it and it grows, and I don't care but I really do. I didn't, not for a long while, but now I wonder if I might not someday be a threat to my family, to Oskar or Atalie.” (He wouldn’t, but he doesn’t know that for certain—that’s where fear comes into play.)

2. What is Audemus' favorite theatrical play? Does it hold any importance to him beyond being just a play?
I don’t actually have any examples of any plays that have been created thus far in the universe that these characters are a part of! The ‘Lowtown theater’ bit was added in as more of an inside joke than anything else, referencing the weird theater scene that Oskar is a fan of. Audemus isn’t a huge theater person (maybe attending one or two Hightown productions per year) but from what he’s heard of the chaos of Lowtown theater shows, he knows he’d never want to attend. They are crowded, rowdy affairs that sometimes involve the unleashing of a literal live goose on stage.

I’m not a theater person either so I can’t say what Audemus would like in terms of our world—only that he would not enjoy Jekyll & Hyde.

3. What is the strangest thing that Audemus said in his pursuit of knowledge in medical necromancy and why was it said?
I’ll admit, this one’s been a real head-scratcher for me. My partner thinks it would be something along the lines of “Pickled liver is far more aromatic than spleen,” or “Formaldehyde is perfume for the deceased.” I suggested, “The soul is irrelevant,” (in a world in which souls are very much real and hold significant sway in basically all forms of spellcasting) or “Flesh is no obstacle to the mind’s will.” None of these are the perfect example, but it’s kind of a ‘sky’s the limit’ sort of deal when it comes to Audemus: engineer a specific enough situation and you could get him saying all sorts of wacky, morbid things.

4. I know it's said that Audemus' doesn't talk about his backstory, has there ever been any point where this has actively hurt him, bet it physically or mentally, or hell even socially?
Audemus’ best friend is a (now) ex-prostitute by the name of Brandy; a woman who saved his life when he was 19 years old. Brandy created what we would call a support group: a club for survivors of various traumatic experiences… one which Audemus would certainly have benefited from psychologically. But because of his crippling inability to talk about his own experiences, he has not joined the group.

At the same time, talking about his experiences has also backfired on him. In confiding in Kai, Audemus unknowingly gave Kai the excuse he needed to outright assassinate Audemus’ noble parents. Kai did this for selfish reasons—Audemus was their sole heir—but he could use a veneer of revenge as justification. Audemus did not want his parents assassinated, nor did he want to take up the title of Lord.

It’s very much a "damned if you do, damned if you don’t" type situation in Audemus’ mind.

5. Has Audemus ever been scared of losing Oskar? If so, what was the event that brought up those feelings?
Oskar, 18, ran home one night with part of his skull beaten in. The assailant was someone Oskar at the time loved and trusted. As a surgeon and healer Audemus was able to save Oskar’s impacted eye—performing emergency surgery on the dining room table—but his injuries not only nearly cost him half his vision, but his very life.

This was a terrifying moment for Audemus: the confirmed realization that Oskar was just as vulnerable as Audemus was at his age. Audemus can struggle with relating to and connecting with other people, but this incident hit a bit too close to home—both literally and metaphorically—and it forced him to try and step up in a way he’d never had to before.

Cordelia Thomas Wrong-Q-Etude

^I absolutely LOVED the read of this, it was a delight and I adored it! I love the detail and thought you've put into this character.

I'm still working on Cordelia, but there should be enough to work with for her, if more information is needed please alert me! (Feel free to also take from the time she's part of, 1860's America)
