Give advice to the OC above you!

ATTENTION: Go to the new thread to keep playing!

Original opening left below for archival purposes.

---

I don't think I've seen one like this around, so...

Is there something your OC is worried about or stuck on? Are they burning with a question YOU don't quite know how to answer? Try asking somebody else's OC for advice!

This is pretty simple. Post IC and ask the user below you for advice on something. The next person to post will post IC and give advice to your OC, then they'll ask for advice for themself! So it'll look something like this:

Character A: "I'm worried my friends don't like me anymore. What should I do?"
Character B: "You should try to take them aside and chat with them, let them know how you feel! I'm sure it just seems that way, but there's probably just something else going on!"
"As for me... No matter how hard I try, I just can't focus on my work! Is there anything I can do to make it easier?"

And so on. If you'd like, feel free to edit your post and have your OC respond to the advice the person below gave you, too!

RULES:

1. Be polite! Don't use a call for advice as an opportunity to chew a character out, whether IC-ly or not... They're asking for help, so give them some!
2. Try to put at least some effort into your advice. They'll appreciate it!
3. Wait at least 4 people before posting again. However, if the thread goes a few days without new posts, feel free to go again to get it back into action.
4. If, for whatever reason, you have problems with somebody in this thread, let me know and I'll do what I can to fix it.

Have fun!

Chad Bradshaw PicklePantry

Kvroii

Chad looked at the wine he was handed, then up at Garu as he explained his predicament. He nodded and scratched his chin at all the info. "That's rough for sure, brah," he agreed. "I'd definitely feel bummed out if my ex pretended like I didn't exist. Were you, like, working for him when that happened? I guess that could be, like, cancel material for dating employees, right? What are you asking, by the way, brah? Are you asking if you should get back with him, or if he should be out in the open about the dating?"

He scratched his head in thought. "Y'know, I knew a couple YouTubers that were in the same heat, ch'yeah. They didn't tell anyone they were dating until she blasted it out there to get him in trouble. It was totally crazy, brah. Real flames happening everywhere. So I guess maybe you should, like, get it out in the open before it gets any worse? Or, like, before either of you try to use it as some kinda smoking gun, y'know?"

"So I've got a problem I need your help with, brah." Chad sat down in front of you, a deeply concerned look on his face. "I went to this store to get these totally sick Heelies, right? And the dude working there was really chill! She gave me this paper that had a link to some advertisement her store had and said every clicked helped her. I clicked and there were already tons of other clicks, so I thought it was fine and showed my followers. Bro, it had malware!! All my followers and I got totally terrible viruses!! Look at this!" He frantically searched through his phone then showed you a YouTube video. "They're cancelling me, bro! I'm trending on Twitter too!

"I was gonna make a video PSA explaining my part but the dude from earlier offered me free, modded Heelies if I didn't say anything. They really look sweet, and people are still gonna flame me either way." He groaned and dropped his head in his hands. "But that's not the honest thing! What do I do, bro?"

Lily Taeya

Lily gulped down her tea and promptly slammed the cup on the table. "Is that it? The answer should be obvious, no?" She leaned forward and glared at Chad. "This person has been deceiving you. It's not impossible that she will do it again. Do not be blinded by free stuff. Think of your followers, love. They look up to you. They expect you to do the right thing. Can you imagine their disappointment when they find out their idol betrayed their faith for some free modded heelies?!" Being so fired up, she slammed her fist on the table again. "Apologize, warn people about the link and bring that person to justice!"
Lilys passionate speech came to an end as she leaned back again. "Do not disappoint me."

"Hmph... I'm pretty sure whatever I have going on, I can deal- actually..." Lily rubbed her chin. No reason not to ask advice on THAT. "My friend circle had an interesting addition lately... It's got me thinking. Maybe I should push for the laws to be a bit more forgiving when it comes to how we handle monsters. If they didn't prove a threat to humans lives, we arrest them instead of killing them. But I wondered if just keeping them under close watch would work just fine. However, my boss is anything but agreeable... I'd have to be very careful. What do you think, love? Should I try anyways?"

Orchis Dragnar SpiritdragonRyuu

"Ah a fellow demon hunter, thank you for all your hard work, my name is Orchis." Orchis said with a respectful bow of his head. He listened to Lily carefully before thinking for a few moments himself. "I think you should try it, at the very least on low level monsters, those that can't do much damage if the plan backfired. It's always important to have some security measures in place just in case, which is like with any mission when it comes to demons and monsters as you already know."

Orchis rubbed his chin slightly before continuing. "In our organisation, if we encounter creatures that are not to do with our assignment but we feel like they need to be watched to see if they are becoming a threat to humans, we have them on a surveillance list and place sensors between their territory and the nearest towns; it gives the monster or creature it's territory but if it starts wandering and sets the sensors off, telling us that it's getting too close to civilisation, then we get informed and investigate to see if it was aimless wandering or had an intent to attack humans. We typically post a couple of hunters in the towns nearby for a quicker response time if a monster were to wander into the towns."

Orchis then gave a smile. "I hope this helped at least a little, I wish you the best of luck in all your future hunts and who knows maybe we will end up working together on a hunt one day."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"So we are getting some new recruits soon, and I want to make them feel welcomed to the organisation. It can be pretty difficult to adjust to the new life and I want to help any way that I can." Orchis paused for a few seconds and brushed a hand through his hair before continuing. "New recruits are always a little nervous around us of high rank, I mean I get that they hold us in high regard but I want them to know that they can come to me if they need and help or support; but even though I tell them that, they always seem a little hesitant in asking or even approaching me. Sorry I'm rambling a bit huh?"

Orchis gave a soft chuckle. "I guess what I'm asking is, how can I come across as more approachable to them and what do you suggest I do to help them feel welcome?"

Aldebaran PIANOZOMBIE

"Hmm...through how you speak alone, you seem to be already pretty kind and approachable already." Aldebaran began as he rested a hand under his chin "Really I think you should keep acting as you are, being kind and open with them might make most feel more welcome, your concern alone for them demonstrates that perfectly. Then again I wouldn't automatically equate their nervousness to you being of a higher rank, Maybe they're generally just nervous being new and all to your organization? If it'd helps I'd suggest maybe researching some articles or tips about it, or if you'd like I could do that for you instead. Best of luck!

_______________________________

"As for my own concerns, I've done plenty of independent study on how real people act, I think I personally pull it off pretty decently most of the time. But Generally is there anything I should avoid doing? Do's and don'ts for people I guess? I thought it would be better to ask this from actual people. I think I worry too much whether I come off as strange or (for lack of a better word) too artificial to others or not, I just want people to see me as they do others. Any advice?

Pony silket

Pony tilts his head slightly, considering the question a bit. From his perspective, the android seemed to be pulling off the 'human' act exceptionally well. Of course, what he was seeing was only a limited glimpse.
"I would say... not to worry about it as much. There's such an, um, complex tapestry, I guess, of people in the world. Some act differently from others. If you don't fit in, that's a human quality, as well. Some people act just like you do, after all, there's almost 8 billion of us... Everyone's expectations are different, too. I think you're doing very well as you are now, without needing to change at all. It's alright to come off as strange. But I have a hard time accepting that myself, too, so maybe I'm being a hypocrite right now." Pony said this with a warm smile, but his mask did not reveal this- hopefully, his eyes could suitably convey the message.

Pony seems very uncomfortable asking for advice, fidgeting slightly. "I'd like to... Oh, geez. ... I'd like to become more comfortable with my appearance. Even saying that sounds wrong, because I shouldn't be comfortable with it. I feel like I should hate it. But sometimes I feel like I can't go on living this way, either. And wearing a mask all the time is... you know, inconvenient. And weird to people, sometimes. Even if it makes me feel more comfortable with my face hidden, I still feel uncomfortable another way, because I stand out so much."

Rarhiko Pomegranarchy

Rarhiko stares impassively at Valkyrie as he speaks. While her understanding of angels differs severely from Valkyrie's, she does not miss the distress in his tone. Admittedly, she'd well expect it to be difficult to date the undead, regardless of what oneself was. When a vampire craves life as they do, and they refuse to feed themselves... Well. That's a recipe for disaster.
These thoughts don't show on Rarhiko's form. She is unblinking, silently ethereal. Were it not for the pink hue of her eyes, she would be entirely white.

"... No, I am not touching you. Do you want me to feel you?" Somehow, her voice is as steady and impassive as her expression is. After a quick rebuttal from Valkyrie, and possibly a harsh denial of Rarhiko's misinterpretation, she simply nods. Doesn't even seem phased by the embarrassing slip-up.

"Give him your blood. Anyone's blood. A starving vampire is a liability to everyone, regardless of how well the vampire may understand that. One way or the other, he will drink. Either he does so peacefully, or his hunger will take a life. Remind him of that, and it's importance."

Then the barest, teeniest of smiles graces her face. Look at her! Rarhiko just gave a non-family member advice for the first time. It was the best she could think of, too.

The white-clad woman sits daintily, hands folded in her lap. Her form is precise and still, reminding one more of a porcelain statue than a person. Rarhiko stares. Then softly, she sighs, the ever so slightest exhale of breath.

"I think I am losing touch with my family." Her hands raise; it is revealed that she has been weaving a small amount of silk between her fingers. The pattern forms a picture, of a spider surrounded by many others. "We used to think the same. Act the same. Our cooperation was like no other. Everything. But now I am different from them."

Rarhiko lowers the silk image. Locks of hair fall from behind her ears, falling into her face.

"I expected it. But I did not expect the..." She frowns. There is a trace of doubt in her tone. "Stand-alone? Lone... the isolation."
After a moment, Rarhiko nods. It is slower, far less confident and purposeful then every other action from her has been.

"Yes. It is lonely. I have no idea how to speak."

Gwen Steffani muichiro

Gwen clears his throat and looks down to his hands. He’s not sure whether or not his response would be of any use to the woman, but she seemed sullen and though stoic, concerned about her relationship with her family. The image she painted with the silk was.. interesting, something he’d never seen before and it gave him an idea of how isolated she may have felt. Personally, he’d only ever grown up with one family member. His dad. When he passed away, Rane's family had taken him in. It’d been nice and comforting, yet still lonesome. Of course, that situation was different than his family members having varying opinions that conflicted with his own.

He wets his lips and glances at her, surveying her melancholic features. “I can imagine finding yourself and the differences you have with your family is hard. I don’t know your family, so I can’t tell you whether or not they’ll accept these things eventually, but.. it might help you feel better in the long run if you reach out to them and let them know you feel this way? If you have a big family, there’s probably someone who will hear you out and help you feel less alone.”

Was this advice even good advice? God, he couldn’t tell.

“We’re.. Uh, supposed to change, you know? It’s part of growing.. and sometimes we deviate from our families in the process. But I don’t think the loneliness we feel from it is permanent. We just gotta let others in.”

"I uh.." He glances around himself. "I'm not sure... what I should get my ex for.. Valentine's?"

Xavier Aarix

Xavier flinches, ever so slightly, at the T word. But he listens carefully, and his dark eyes gently prompt Alistair along. He takes the photo carefully.

"I'm not sure," he admits softly. "I don't know her personally enough to know her tastes. But I get the feeling a simple bouquet won't cut it." He knows this is about way more than a mere gift. He searches the eyes of the woman in the photo for a second. "At the very least, I'd include a letter to her. By hand. Nothing beats the personal touch of something tangible..." Nice stationery and his very best handwriting were a must.

"I don't know what came between you, but I sense it was something severe. Twins... really do have a special bond. I'd know, I was one." He smiles for a moment, a bit painfully. "If reconciliation is your goal, the most you can do is offer her the option of reaching out...

"As for the gift itself... Y'know anyone could buy her a pretty necklace or a fancy perfume. Only you could get her something which was a callback to your childhood together--something nostalgic could really tug the heartstrings. Now, whether or not you want to wield that power is up to you..." It sounds like he'd be picking at old wounds. But maybe a part of him wants to do that. That's why he's asking, isn't he. He's trying to convince himself if it's appropriate at all.

"Family relationships can be tough to grapple with at the best of times. But you should trust your instincts. Anything you do will be better than nothing. Whether she decides to accept it is her choice alone."

-------

"I hope you don't mind my asking your advice." He figures it's the worst he could do.

"Long story short, I'm getting old. I'll need some time and money for medical expenses very soon, and I really have neither to spare. The way I see it, I have three options: I can take out a loan. I can sell off some of my gear--keeping in mind it's how I earn my living. Or I can beg my parents for a place to stay while I recoup. They'd accept, but..." Xavier sighs, and rubs his brow. "No option is ideal. I'd appreciate your vote on the lesser evil." keeping in mind every option is evil. Especially the last.

(okay it's been a while, NP you can give something more general to any of my OCs if my prompt does not inspire you)

VVV ohoho u got him Haru. Suck it up Xave u suck so much can u stop being a proud individualist for one second😩 ur an embarrassing black sheep but you're your parent's embarrassing black sheep and you disowned them harder than they ever disowned you.

student debt wizard comrade_dragoslav

It was simply impossible. There was no way that the stars could have aligned so perfectly to make this moment a reality. Student debt wizard could never have predicted that such a miraculous encounter would ever befall him.
As he listened to Haru’s dilemma, the wizard tried to suppress the malevolent smile spreading across his face and the evil laughter he longed to let out. Physics and mathematics, two subject areas with an astronomical tuition cost…it was too good to be true. And on top of that, he would have to sell his cafe and take a huge financial gamble to go to university…

The wizard grinned, like a wolf circling its prey. “No need to worry, my friend, I understand your situation perfectly. You see, your desired areas of study are expensive precisely because they are so useful for future careers. If you go forward with this, you will have a myriad of opportunities at your door after graduation. It is absolutely worth it to take that risk with your income; university is worth every penny. Also, I struggle to believe that you are not smart enough to pursue a tertiary education; the very fact that you are considering this path is very clever in and of itself. If you ever take interest in any other subjects, particularly those with…costly tuition fees, I encourage you to pursue them as well.”

The wizard ducked behind the brick wall, leading you into the alley. “I do apologize for this strange location for our conversation, but the FBI is currently chasing after me, so I must be discreet and cautious.”

He adjusted his fabulous wizard hat. “Well, where do I begin…sometime during the medieval ages, I used to sell textbooks on various subjects. I was a gentler soul back then, not yet having fallen victim to the selfishness of those wretched university students…” He angrily slammed the brick wall behind him, but the noise was drowned out by the sound of passing cars on the street. “On that topic, my customer base began to abandon me just because I raised my prices by a minute amount. I was furious, declared revenge on all university students…the long story short is that I recently located someone who is a direct descendant of one of those awful traitors from centuries ago, and I am considering burning their house down. On the other hand, the FBI might know that it was me, because I have been persecuted for this same crime dozens of times ever since the FBI’s creation in the early 20th century. Should I commit my desired act of arson, or should I play it safe?”

Nitro RosyWindFox

Hmmm that's a tricky one! Have you ever consider some of the LARPs may actually be other supernaturals? Pretending to be a LARP is a great disguise. Is there anywhere you think might be a hot spot for other supernaturals? Maybe you could hang around there and try to spot one. Once you find one it should hopefully be easier to find some others since they might have a clue. Or maybe think of what other specific supernaturals might like to hang out, a more aquatic one might hang out at a pier, beach or aquarium for instance. You could also check some online forums to see if any of the "sightings" have a ring of truth for you to check out. Places with very high and very low (depending on the supernatural) are often the best places to not be spotted so maybe check those kind of places out. I'll admit on my planet finding supernaturals isn't that hard since they like to be flashy about it but hopefully some of this can help.

"I can't find my little salamander buddy (Splat) anywhere! It's hard because they're so tiny and I'm quite large any advice on how to find them? I'm pretty sure they're somewhere in the ship or base though so that's a start."

Merlin Soju myoukyomou

"Ohh.." Merlin exhales, "It's one'a those problems, huh? I get where you're comin' from." He rolls his shoulders back with yet another sigh. "Not sure if this'll help ya, but I got a little delinquent of my own at home. My puppy always seems to get himself lost in the house, and since he's kinda small, I always have trouble findin' him. Even if I call his name, he won't come out. But, this is what I do to make 'em come out of hiding." He crosses his arms in a way that his left elbow is raised to rest his chin on his hand, trying to format the plan out into words within his mind. "I usually lay out a plate of the puppy's favorite food out somewhere. He's got a pretty good sniffer, so no matter where he is, he'll come running to it after a little bit. I actually put a camera somewhere and wait in another room for him to come out so that I can finally catch him by watching whenever he decides to take a bite out of the snack I placed for him." Merlin huffs a bit with an entertained smile, probably recalling moments of when he had done this in the past. Numerous times, most likely.

"Now, I'm not sure whether or not your pet's got a thing for food, but perhaps it might work for you. If you want, you can crank it up a notch and set up some silly little cartoon villain trap with a box and a stick, or somethin' like that. It might be hard for you to do if the area you're lookin' over is big, but that's just my two cents. Hope ya find 'em."

Merlin sat at a table, leaning forward on it with his hands folded over his mouth, looking a bit contemplative-- a 'frustrated' kind of contemplative. He seemed deep in thought, and doesn't notice you until you're about halfway into his line of sight, which he then glides his eyes up toward you.

"Ah, hey there, kid.." The words come out as if he's a bit breathless, immediately lowering his hands, as well as his eyes down to the table. "No- I'm fine.. it's just that.. is it okay if I talk to you about somethin' that's been on my mind for a little bit now? .. Thanks." His eyes close for a few seconds in hesitation, but he soon starts to speak again. "Y'know, I have a lot of trouble opening up to people. I'm sure you've figured that out already if ya know me well enough, and if you have that knowledge, then surely you must know the reason why I'm like that in the first place." His hands guide themselves into each other again, interlocking his digits with one another. His left thumb was laid over his right as his hands folded, the superior thumb squeezing down on the other.

"But I've been thinkin'.. is that a little bad? I mean- I'm like this with all people, even with people I'm close to, even with my lover. I feel like it's normal to act different around people you're close to, but I just can't convince myself to show others that there's more to me than just a war vet who guns down bad guys. I think I might just be scared of telling secrets. I'm starting to think that there's not even anything in me past that.. What should I do?"
