Jak slithered down the alley, going deeper and deeper into the back streets of its new territory. It had no real destination in mind. It was new to this city, it still had to explore all its niche spots. So for now it just wandered, enjoying itself.
Jak stepped and heard the faintest tap behind it followed by a light "shit".
It went perfectly still. For a second the world was quiet before it giggled with the voices of an old man and small girl.
It turned.
"Hello?" Jak asked, it's voice was the little girl's again. Nothing answered but Jak could feel a tension in the air. "Hellooo?" This time it had a woman's voice. "Hello? Please come out, I'm scared. Please?" It walked slowly as it spoke. All the while Jak's power stretched out, sliver thin streams of black formed from the back of Jak's shoes and rode up the walls. The streams trickled into every nook in the alley. One branch brushed against a creature larger than a rat and Jak's power went off. A wall of limbs ruptured from the tiny thread, slamming Jak's follower into the center of the alley. There was a shriek of shock and a body sprawled out a few feet away from Jak. The wall of limbs quickly redacted. A tiny white poncho hid most of the follower's form before the head snapped up to look up.
Jak was looking down at a long-eared, black rabbit. Jak smiled, but it was too wide, going well into its cheeks, seemingly breaking Jak's skull. "Oh, hello." Jak's voice returned to normal. The voice of a man and woman talking in tandem.
It crouched to be at eye-level with the rabbit. The creature scowled as it pushed itself back. "S-stay the hell away from me!" The rabbit warned. The voice was gruff, like it had macho to it despite it being very obviously female. Jak tilted its head and hopped forward. "You were following me and now you don't want to see me?" Its eyes lit up. "Oh! I know!" In a blink of an eye Jak's head had changed from a human's to that of a rabbit.
It messed up the number of eyes, but what else was new.
And it still had that skull defying smile. "That better?" Jak asked. The little rabbit seemed too stunned to respond. For a second she just stared at Jak. It stared back with all eight of its eyes. "You were following me." Jak eventually said.
"S-stalking you." The rabbit tried to correct, her voice was numb. Jak just shook its head. "Stalking implies predator and prey. And you, little rabbit are not a predator." Jak bounced it's palms against its knees excitedly. "I wanna know why you followed me though! We'll make a game out of it, do you like games?" The rabbit hesitated before nodding. "How... how do we play?" She asked.
"Simple." Jak leaned back and sat on the ground. "We talk first. Learn about each other. I learn what why you followed me and you learn what ever you wanted to learn by following me." Jak waved a hand in the air vaguely, as if that last part didn't matter.
"Then what?"
Jak leaned forward. "Then." Its voices said. "If I like your reason, I give you a head start."
"Head start on what?"
Jak's eyes glinted. "Running."
