General Thread for PSAs

Posted 8 years, 6 days ago (Edited 5 years, 6 months ago) by Vespisia

Hello!

8/9: New PSA added.

5/14: 2 new PSAs added.

4/8: New PSA posted and additional information on Squidribs added to relevant PSA.

It was suggested that there should perhaps be a general thread for PSAs which is a fine idea. A place that links to other PSAs and keep things organized.
You can link your threads/PSAs/etc, and I'll add them to the posts. :D
Please Note: I can only accept public PSAs. Anon PSAs are too much of a risk to accept, as they can be open to slander.

Things That Count for PSAs!
-Scams
-Illegally chargebacked (you did a commission, but person claims you never did, for instance)
-Being shifty on doing owed things (taking months on an icon for example, lack of contact or updates, etc)
-Tracing and profiting off of it...
-Etc...

Things That Don't Count!
-Someone has better art than you
-Rude behavior
-Subjective issues
-Dog ate your homework

Obviously, this is just the basic frame work. Each case is different. For instance, someone could go around harassing artists for art and customs, or for people to give up their adopts and whatnot, and that could almost certainly be considered for a PSA...

Of course, it would be great if no more PSAs occur, but in the case they do, I support people posting them because they keep the community safe and will link to them in this general thread. owo/

There'll be two posts, one for PSAs and one for resolved cases! ^^

I'm not trying to start anything, but does anyone have a link to flanibun's trello/to-do list? I've tried finding it, I might be overlooking it so I thought I'd ask...

I commissioned them in July and they had me pay up front via friends and family. (INB4 I know you shouldn't, but they needed funds to get out of a bad spot and I wanted to help.)
I noticed almost 2 weeks ago they are now dropping off of TH. I reached out on Aug 8th asking if they could confirm my commission is on their trello since I can't find a link to it and they did read my message but never responded. It hasn't been long at all, but I'm starting to see other people who can't get a hold of them and I'm getting nervous with the lack of responses. ;;

Edit* Someone else told me they contacted Flani on the 1st and 12th of August and are still being met with silence. Any advice is appreciated, idk what to do.

edit 2 got the trello link

sukoshi hi, sorry to hear you're dealing with this :c do you have the artist's trello or socials perchance? wondering if the artist has any status updates/info as to their absence (if something's going on!). the lack of communication is concerning though, and if it continues, i personally would recommend/go for trying to get a refund ;;

rannoween

sukoshi i see, that's unfortunate :c.

in regards to this situation, if you would like to receive the artwork, i'd write a final dm stating your needs (needing communication, updates, wips, etc.) and having a deadline (when to receive the artwork by). hopefully the artist is able to respond to you + deliver then (apologies for any wording)

rannoween

sukoshi a partial refund like seteth said sounds good. most people, with a full refund, tend to not use the artwork afterwards due to receiving the refund, but in this case, with wanting to keep a sketch, working out a partial refund with the artist sounds like a good idea.

if you would like to try to get the final artwork, a final dm with a deadline (and asking for communication) sounds good, but if you'd like to keep the sketch and go for a partial, i recommend sending a dm to try to work out the details with the artist!  gl! (and ty!!!)

I know this is the service reviews so do forgive me if this is not the appropriate place to bring this up but one of the mods in my discord server has just informed me of this going around and I wouldn't really say I'm fit for making a properly informative PSA thread or bulletin about this. I still think it's really important to bring up however and have a discussion about if this really is true. I'll try to do my own research when i can find the time but here's the screenshots i've been provided. It's regarding P4yp4l's new policies. Im personally mainly concerned with the nsfw commissions aspect but I suppose if it's something I have to stop considering even if I do go extra lengths to make sure I'm not drawing for a minor then I guess this is it.

Edit, while researching i found another concerning statement. Here's the whole policy updates statement.

This is.. kinda confusing to me. What if you state anywhere that you won't do NSFW? Would you still get your pypl account banned?
