Season 2 kickoff: Hell or High Water

The air outside is crisp with promises of a coming Autumn, while the sun bares down to keep everything warm. There's a light dusting of clouds through the sky. Everyone at HQ works their regular schedules, either inside their office buildings or enjoying time outside on their breaks. Despite the charming weather, it's fair to say many of you have begun to feel restless. 

Several months without an assignment sounded great after the nightmare that was Vitality, but as it closes on the third month you wonder when your next assignment will come. Carlos and Haskell discuss various requests in his office, getting into a small back-and-forth as they do. Haskell makes a snide comment, to which Carlos replies “Okay Reagan, whatever you say.”  

He turns to his desk shifting the papers in his hands before pausing, realizing what he just said. He quickly flips around to face Haskell, whose eyes have widened as they open their mouth to speak, but before they can bright blinding light shines through the windows. Outside, a blinding pillar of light has shot down from the sky, landing in the center path of HQ just before the main office building. It grabs everyone's attention, as many avert or look away to save their eyesight from the sudden flash. 

When the light dissipates, standing alone where it hit is a very tall man. He stands stick straight, tugging at the golden lapels that adorn his cold grey jacket. He wears a lighter grey turtleneck underneath, which matching grey slacks. His hair is an iridescent color, that mostly looks like a cool grey but shimmers a pastel rainbow as light hits it. His face, disgruntled and annoyed looking, is fairly normal aside from the star-like marking that surrounds his right eye and his star-shaped pupils that sit in bright cerulean eyes. However, the most notable feature is the bright set of wings that stick out from his back. Their definition is near impossible to see unless up close, as they continue to glow brightly.

Jiemba is literally slapping Auran's arm, "Babe! Babe! Holy shit, some mother fcker just beamed down from the sky!!"

Seeing the light, Alex covered his eyes enough to let the moment pass and then quickly headed to where it landed and saw the- Angel? Siren? Enemy??

Frank is blind. Deep sea fish looked right at the light. He cannot see--

Cami got flash banged while heading to where they were going and didn't realize what it was fast enough before blurting out a "What the FUCK, DICK!" At the direction of the light.

Ash brings their arm above their eyes, before blinking and curiosity and deciding to maaaaybe check out where that is.

Lethe is heading there right now o/

 Iseul debates not going, but sighs and makes his stroll there as he contemplates the light's source.

Ash | David 🌻

David winces, shielding his eyes at the bright ray of light that descends.  At first his reaction is fear, believing it's a bomb, before blinking and squinting at the form of the man.  He looks over to Jiemba and Auran wide-eyed.  "Do we? Need to deal with that?" Before waiting on a response though he's already headed towards the man.

🤖 iron | Spare 🔑 

He sees it from the labs, for a split second he thought someone set off his Stuncrown. There's a Siren??? Glowing Siren??? outside that just showed up in a beam of light, and Spare's pretty sure somebody would have mentioned something like this if it was a yearly thing. He looks out the window, curious.

AR9 | Syd 🔥 Ryder 🐁 Babs 🌟 

Syd was just trying to enjoy his break as he sat outside the offices. He, as a brilliant man, stared directly into the light and is now trying to rub the flashes out of his eyes. What's happening??

Babs was on a walk to explore the area a little more. She wasn't close enough to make out details past the glowing wings and presses against Jack some. "Who?"

Rob | Esme 🍄 Sushi 🖕 Bones 🌵 

Sushi was making his way back to the dorm with mcdonalds in hand, and nearly drops his soda at the sudden flashbang with a "Dude, what the HELL--"

 Bones was not close enough to see the person beam in, but the light does alert them, and they make their way over cautiously.

✨ Blue | Wisty 🌇 Thistle 🌺

Wisty, who was hanging around somewhere nearby with Romeo, blinks and after staring for a sec to see if anything else was gonna happen glances at him with a tilt of her head in that direction and starts carefully heading over to see what the actual fuck is going on.

Thistle is also alerted by the light, and considers before making her way over, more curiously than anything.

🌌Iné | Auran🛸 Leslie⚓ Jess 🛠

Auran screeches and falls on his ass. "What the hell-- ALIEN??? ALIEN FROM THE SKY?????" And he scrambles back up to his feet.

Leslie makes a face at the flashing through the window. Ow. That's like forgetting to wear a mask when welding.

Jess just lets out a string of cursing in spanish.

Vesuvi || Hugo 🕶 Andy 📡

Hugo is relaxing in his room, prepping for a mid-day nap when he more or less gets flashbanged by a beam in the sky. When he eventually gets his vision back, he checks the window to see what happened and freezes. He blinks, and a moment later he's rushing to get his clothes on and booking it down the stairs because he knows what he just saw.

Andrew nearly falls down the steps when he's blind-sighted by a bright flash. Still recovering and rubbing his eyes, he shouts. "WHAT WAS THAT! ARE WE UNDER ATTACK?"

Tiu | Jarno🌲Nera👼 

Jarno was out on a forest walk when the sudden unnatural flash of light attracted his attention. He jogged to the sight of the phenomenon and instead of a busted electrical pole that he expected, he saw a winged person that was being far too bright for a siren. Guess it's time to head for the HQ.

Nera looked out of the dorm window at the silent lightning strike, and the next second she found herself glued to it. Is that what she thinks it is??? She dropped her music practice and practically ran out of the dorms to see it closer. She skipped a few steps out of the door to take flight.

Romeo winces at the light blinds him. When his vision clears, he blinks and looks at Wisty. "Let's go." and heads that way.

Natsumi was untangling the ghosts' tails when the flash happens, blinking in confusion and dragging the boys along with them as they go to look like balloons.

Mirror was perfectly fine, actually, but notes the sound of a commotion and decides to move towards it.

🌙 Matsu | Athena 💫 Ysa 🧪

Ysa was pretty much minding her business, sitting outside to soak in the cool autumn air and gentle sun when a great flash of light makes her wince, raising her arm to shield her eyes from it. She looks up and at the direction the light came from, eyes slowly widening as theories cross her mind… she subconsciously makes the sign of the cross before scrambling up to look for Ash.

Kasper was minding his own business with Athena around town when suddenly a bright light came in and blinded him, making him fall back from the intensity. Once everything calmed down, Kasper rubbed his eyes intensely while waiting for his sight to return to normal. He took an exasperated sigh before reaching out to Athena for help to stand up. “Gods… what the fuck got summoned this time.”

Ducky was cooking in his kitchen when the flash of light shone through his window. It was intense enough to make him squint hard in alarm. “What in tarnation—??” He explained before turning off his stove and got ready to head out to HQ.

Arjuna was napping when the light shone through his dorm window. “Ugh. Who turned the lights on—“ Once he realized what was going on, he of course make his way to HQ.

Albo | Jiemba🪃 Kseniya🪗

Kseniya was in the midst of a flight when the beam of light came down. Her feathers raised in confusion. She flexed her wings, landing and also marching to the winged man. What was he doing making all this ruckus

Jiemba was about respond to David, but the man was already marching off. While he was excited, he wasn't about to just approach-- "Not sure thats an alien, love--"

Spare is seeing a commotion happening and... yeah he's gotta be in there for this. Does this window open? It's only a story high drop it's fine

Michael looks around, seeing the droves of people getting closer as they whisper in confusion. He makes a disgusted face, turning his attention to the building in front of him.

“Carlos Spectre and Reagan Haskell, get out here now.” 

Carlos sweats and looks at Haskell, who gives returns the look before hurrying down. Once outside, the angel brushes past the people getting closer, clearly avoiding touching them, and stands in front of the two. “Your damn bandaid has come off.” Carlos shirks back a half step and sighs. “Hello to you too, Michael.” 

Michael scoffs and glares, moving his wrist in a way that then seems to move those infront of him out of his way without touching them. He steps up to the two and glares down at them. “Do not act so trivial. Surely you felt the change. You know what's happened...” 

Haskell seems mildly distracted by something, but stays where they are and pulls it together enough to say “Yes, just a moment ago, what I don't know is why.” They drag a hand down their face. “It's not like him to back out on a done deal, we should've had at least another decade...” 

Carlos sighs. “Why don't we... discuss this inside? Away from... everyone.” 

Michael's feathers rustle. “We do not have time for discussion. I need you to start fixing this now.” he huffs then looks around as Haskell gives Carlos a deeply long-suffering look.

Rudy pears outside and then draws the blinds in his lab. This is Carlos and Haskells shit leave him out of it.

Ash | David 🌻

David hovers near Auran and Jiemba throughout the conversation, looking between Haskell and Carlos and the angel in front of them.  He keeps leaning in closer to listen, eyes wide, but awkwardly coughs and leans away when Carlos mentions discussing it away from anyone.  He mumbles under his breath, "I uh, yeah I don't think that's an alien...."  He seems a little dazed overall.

🖤 naomy | mialani🦋ivy🪶 

Mialani was just as confused as the rest when the flash of light appeared. She had been in the common room, so going outside didn't take long. She was in shock as what she thinks she was seeing... but trying her best to convince herself this was a siren instead.

Ivy was perching on a roof when the flash happened, causing her to stand tall and almost on guard. Was this an attack? No... it was someone new? She chose to stay afar watching to see what would happen next, thinking she could get detailed filled in later by others near the commotion.

🌙 Matsu | Athena 💫 Ysa 🧪

Athena was finally out and about after her conversation with Ash yesterday, feeling a little better when… a bright light flashed and made her wince. She was startled as Kasper fell to the ground but couldn’t help but chuckle a little “sometimes I’m grateful there’s more pigment in my eyes. Are you okay, oppa?” She reaches her hand out for him before looking towards where the light came from “what got summoned indeed. What if it was Bahamut… like the calamity from FFXIV..” she jokes, laughing lightly. “The smart idea is to not go there but… shall we?”

Michael. What a strange name for a Siren. A glowing Siren because that's all this is, a weird looking siren and that's all this guy is. Because there's no way he's the other thing. Nope. Because if he was, how much does he know? More than SC? Does he know a man named Malek Daud? Does he know where he- stop thinking and pay attention spare

🌟Knoxy/Bethany | A🌠L🗡I 🐟 

Ash notices familiar movement and sees Ysa, giving a smile and waving!  Before looking over to the man (angel? unconfirmed.) quizically. "Who's Reagan....?" Did Haskell just get deadnamed by an angel(?)?? "Soo, what's going on?" Ash pipes up to the angel and leaders! "What's coming undone- or, needs to be fixed?"

Rob | Esme 🍄 Sushi 🖕 Bones 🌵 

Sushi was going to complain about the light, but now he's just nosy. He finds the nearest wall/fence and hops up on it to get a better view of the tea. Bones meanwhile is watching from a distance. They're saying no thanks to that crowd.

Michael is. Well ignoring Ash.  Carlos looks around at everyone and sighs. "Can we? Move into the debriefing room???"

Alex is kinda standing among the crowd on 'standby' cause he does not understand what going on

Frank ran into a lamp post trying to follow the voices

Cami is also still pissed but nosy and is just gonna broom hover for a view of the potential fight if hes lucky.

Hugo makes it to the center of HQ after more or less running. He stops and looks in awe at the bright figure.. Oh.. Wow, he really did see a- Wait, him being here talking about trouble not good. He keeps quiet and waits anxiously to see what he has to say.

Andrew's vision finally clears up, and sees everyone in the dorms pouring out and towards HQ. He follows, of course, still confused and asking what's going on until he sees.... AN ANGEL?! WHAT-

Jiemba mouthed, "Their first name is Reagan--" His face grew concerned. What did that Michael guy mean by a 'bandaid?'. "A bandaid for what?" He glanced at David and Auran.

✨ Blue | Wisty 🌇 Thistle 🌺 

Haskell gives a long sigh and raises their voice. "Yes, field operatives, please come to the debriefing room and we'll explain what's going on. Michael, excuse the delay, but if we're going to fix this, we'll need our team to know what's going on."

Nera flies towards the commotions and lands close, still leaves a respectful distance between herself and Michael."An angel," she says wistfully, hands crossed in front of her chest."A real angel."

"Michael?" Hugo mutters, shocked. He catches himself and speed walks to the debriefing room, still trying to wrap his head around this. Is it that Michael? What's he doing here?

Andy hurries to the debriefing room, curious but head still swimming with questions.

Hearing Haskell's announcement, Kseniya is already making her way to the debriefing room. She definitely wants to get a good seat for this.

Cami lowers down to where Nera is swooning and just mumbles a sly "Hows it feel getting shown up, sunshine." while grinning

Ash shrugs and skips over to the debriefing room. 

Lethe isn't really sure what to do with Michael there so she just shuffles over.

 Iseul rates Michael about like a 7.5 internally and heads to the meeting room.

Romeo is staring with his mouth slightly agape at Michael. Is he breathing?

Michael scoffs and floats up, over the crowd of people and towards the main building. "fine. Make it quick."

David looks over to Jiemba and gives a shrug, shaking his head.  He has a bad feeling about all of this.  When Haskell says to move to the debriefing room David takes Jiemba and Auran's hands and starts heading to wherever Haskell directs, still eyeing the angel in front of him.

Wisty nudges Romeo and murmurs "Breathe, hon."

Syd stood up and stretched. "Good to finally get some action" He's missed punching things. This is hard

Babs doesn't know where the debriefing room is. She's following the crowd. She may end up with the scientists

Alex is just heading to the room like a good boy. Good job buddy.

Frank does not know where the debriefing room is, but he can slowly start seeing the lil blobs of people he probably should follow-

Mialani starts to follow along, very visibly confused at the situation. Once she's close enough and sees this is an angel named Michael, some colour seems to fade from her face."Un ángel...?" She whispered to herself, kind of lost in thought now. "Oh my god-" Once inside, she quickly picks a seat and just stares to the front.

Once Ivy saw people walking towards the meeting area, she opened her wings and swooped down with the crowd, landing quietly and walking along like she had been there all along. She chose to stand in the back to not obstruct anyones view.

It takes physical effort for Nera to pry her eyes off of the angel in front of her to give Cami the deadliest of looks."Your small worldly mind wouldn't understand," she huffs and turns to walk away from him to the meeting room.

Jarno is kinda reeling of this revelation but makes his way to the meeting room anyway. Better to see what this all si actually about.

“I’m okay. Eyes just hurt… and hell no. As cool as that would be I’m not ready to fight that.” Kasper snorted before nodding. “Yeah. Let’s go before we find out that someone got killed.” The two soon enough caught up with the small group forming around the commotion and overheard the ongoing discussion to head into  the briefing room. Kasper looked to Athena with a shrug before he finally saw the man with white glowing wings. “…Huh. Are those…. Real…. The light I mean.”

A very nosy pair of glasses can be seen shimmering in the light from a window in the artificery.

Auran deflates and makes the most disappointed frown he can muster. Damn. He wanted to see aliens. He lets himself be dragged! 

Leslie has come outside to curiously look, staying away enough from the general crowd but close enough to listen.

Jess gasps at the sight of the angel and makes the sign of the cross out of habit, screaming as her hand gets burnt. "oW WHAT THE FUCK--"

Carlos just sighs and moves inward, looking tiredly at Haskell as they went.

Natsumi is trying to find the boys™️ while going inside.

Ysa rushes towards Ash, immediately asking and checking if they’re okay. “D-did I hear that right? An Angel?” she wheezes out, looking at Romeo as well for confirmation

“Yeah, fair enough. I wouldn’t be ready for that either.” She laughs lightly before they headed towards the commotion. Athena made a face and looked at Kasper “Reagan? But also.. is that an actual angel? That’s uh.. huh”

Rob | Esme 🍄 Sushi 🖕 Bones 🌵 

"Huh, alright." Sushi has so little context for the significance of this and follows along nonchalantly. Slurping kao's soda loudly as he goes. 

Bones' curiosity is not strong enough to get it in that debriefing room. It'll hover outside and hope the place has windows it can hear through.

Ducky and Arjuna eventually figured out everyone was heading to the briefing room and found their way in, taking spots where they’d sit and listen in.

Caitlyn had been walking around campus when all the commotion was going on. Seeing others gathering she quietly slips into the crowd to find Syd “hey what the hells going on?”

Lana is trying to wrap her head around the situation. She had faith in gods from being a witch but didn’t put stock in the more biblical variety.

Jack exists. He’s not really listening since everyone else seems to have it under control

Mialani nods her head a bit before changing it to a 'so-so' hand gesture. She throws on a small nervous smile."I'm just kind of having a religious crisis right now." She laughs lightly. "Because if that's Michael," (pronouncing the name in spanish) "then that means my mom was right, and that's the last thing I want." Mialani put a hand to her face to hide her expression.

Thistle turns into a bird and settles onto Lethe's shoulder to watch what's going on.

Romeo lets Wisty drag him, making very little sense of mutters to Ysa in response.

Syd was heading to the debrief room. "Guess some kind of deity angel dude came from the sky. Ready to face religious judgemen?" Laughs. "We're heading to an emergency meeting to figure out whats up."

Arjuna is having an existential crisis realizing that in front of them was an angel… Would praying to Shiva be considered rude right now……

Ducky can’t help but stare at the angel. “Sweet, tender and mild baby Jesus.” He muttered under his breath.

Everybodys lightly grouping up to listen, so Alex just kinda scoots over to be by Jack with a lil wave. First debriefing! Exciting!

Kseniya's SHARP OWL EYES spotted a rather lost, and very tall sea siren. She calls out, "You! Long siren. Debrief room is not that way." She moves to grab their hand, "It is this way, come." And she's already walking, tug tug!.

Hugo pats her shoulder in an attempt to comfort her. "I'm just as shocked as you." He reaches into his shirt and pulls out a necklace with a cross hanging from it. "It'll be okay, don't worry."

Michael floats to the front of the room as they enter, landing on stage and turning to look back at everyone as they enter.

Carlos tredges up to the front, looking so tired already.

🤖 iron | Spare 🔑

Spare stops shaking after realizing he's shaking and heads for debriefing near the back. Reagan? Pretty sure he's never heard that name for Haskell. Angels deadname? Oh god angels deadname. christ. Christ? Christ. God? Is now a time for a religious crisis? "Hey, is there going to be a... uh... Q&A after this briefing?" Did he just say that out loud?

🌟Knoxy/Bethany | A🌠L🗡I 🐟

Ash links their arm with Ysa's and shrugs. "Seems like it? Kind of curious honestly!" 

Lethe looks to her shoulder, not even flinching as she pets Thistle's head and situates herself.

Carlos looks over to Spare. "QnA?"

Frank is suddenly being kidnapped "Oh, uh-! Thanks-.. Can you slow- uh- wai-...!" Hes trying so hard not to fall while being dragged "Who are yo- woah-..!"

Jarno just takes a seat in the back of the room. Huh.

Nera is doing a very bad job ignoring Cami as she takes a seat in the first row. No matter what that b- witch says she still wants to be close to the angel.

"Yeah! Questions! Like... that's... that's a Siren right? Because I keep having this strange thought of 'Wow! That's guy looks like an Angel! Micheal from the Quran and the Bible!' but that can't be right, right? That's just me being dumb?"

"Wait are we-- oh shit are we getting a mission?? Is the angel mans giving us a mission??" Auran is clearly paying so much attention. If he really focuses he could almost see green antennae on top of Michael's head.

Leslie is still following the crowd!

Jess has a lot of questions right now but the main one is WHY IS HER HAND BURNT.

Natsumi blinks and smiles, running over to Jiemba. "Hey!!" the ghosts are still balloons. 

Michael looks at Spare and scoffs with disgust. "I am Michael, you untintelligent mortal."

"Hmm??" She looked back at him, and down at their long legs. She squint back up at her, "Fine." She slows a bit, but only because they reached the room "I am Kseniya. The room is here"

Ysa starts to wheeze softly, sudden (war) flashbacks to her religious classes and all the Sunday school… “o dios” she clings to Ash a little closer kind of just.. mindlessly walking to the briefing room

Mialani smiles and nods, clutching at her own rosary around her neck with the hand that has one tatted on. She leans her head lightly on his should for a second as acknowledgement before it shoots back up at Michael's response to someone in the crowd.".... dont tell me he has a 'holier than thou' attitude..." she kind of laughs at this.

Ivy is just standing in the back listening to all the conversations going on before focusing more on the angel. Wow, how rude.

"...Those of you with Christian backgrounds may want to brace yourselves, but some time back, around 30 years or so, there was a demon who came to Earth in an attempt to take over and overthrow Lucifer." They look around. "His name is Beelzebub, one of the Princes of Hell."

"We provided some support to help Michael in the effort to take him down - more on him and his strategy later - but the final battle was still going...poorly. In the last moments, I was given- an opportunity, and made a magical deal to seal him away and revive those who had been killed."  They sigh, again more heavily this time. "The hope was to contain him permanently, or if not, at least until we had recovered and were more prepared to handle him. But the deal seems to have been cut off prematurely, for reasons we don't understand yet, so he is now loose again." 

They look around. "Questions so far?"

Interfering with that process, and preventing him from stockpiling such an excess of power, ought to make him easier to deal with." They huff out another sigh. "...We can also try and sort out what went wrong with the deal, in case we might be able to reinstate it, but Rumpelstiltskin is notoriously difficult to track down."

Kseniya glances at Frank again, "Then do not waste time just looking and just do." She tilts her head, "You have goals yes?" At the demon remark, she shrugs. "I suppose. But Rumplestilskin is not one I would rely on to seal a demon."

"Yes, the one known for being linked with many fairy tales, spinning straw into gold, and so on, although the stories aren't exactly complete information." They shake their head. "From what we understand, he's an extradimensional being of sorts, so he just...appears wherever he pleases, much like Michael just did. He chose his place and moment back then because he knew we'd likely be desperate enough to make a deal, or at least he'd get some entertainment to watch."  

They point to Arjuna. "In a way? Yes. Rumpelstiltskin works with the fabric of the universe itself, so in a sense he has power over all that's in it, but how much influence he has depends on what he receives in the deals he makes. I gave him my first name and some of my memories, with an IOU for him to receive more memories later, and that was enough for him to create the seal." 

They turn to Esme, consider that, and say "...We can discuss it later. For now, what's done is done, although we may want to know what you can tell us about who that person was, later on." 

They then turn to Michael. "...I see. Do we have rough locations for where on Earth those demons might be? If he's still weak for now, if we can get to them before he does..."

It's impossible to say with the information we have right now."

Now that he's released we need to get that from her before its too late. Problem is, I don't know exactly where she is so I need you humans to figure it out." 

Carlos sighs. "If there are no more questions, I would suggest you to go back to your rooms and pack. We'll need to leave immediately, and likely will have a flight for you all tomorrow."
