Chapter 5 Part 3: Calm Before the Storm

Elise continued ahead, holding Tattletail nervously. Tattletail blinks, "You ok?" Elise shrugs, "...Do you think Inky will be ok?" Tattletail shrugs, "Who knows." Elise sighed softly, "I guess we'll just have to wait and see..." Tattletail nodded, "That Drippy guy practically came out of nowhere. I never even knew he existed." Elise frowns, "I don't think he had a reason to. I mean, he said he was Inky's boss, right? When Inky was doing everything he was supposed to, he didn't have a reason to step in." She sighs, "Inky is breaking the rules by helping us." Tattletail blinks, "What if this is a setup?" Elise shook her head, "I don't think so." Tattletail huffs, "I don't know what to believe." Elise chuckles sadly, "Maybe once we meet back up with him you'll start to trust him." Tattletail shrugged, "I wouldn't bank on it Elise. But anyway. Do you know where we're headed?" Elise shook her head, "Not at all." She looked around the area they were in. It was just a nearly pitch-black desolate hallway leading to more desolate hallways.

She sighs, "We're lost." There were no signs of life in the hallway they were in. At this point, they'd run far enough away to the point where they could no longer hear Inky and Drippy fighting eachother. There was no noise around them with the exception of their footsteps and the soft blowing of the wind down the hallways. "It's crazy how deep down this studio goes... I can see why nobody escapes here," Elise remarked. Tattletail nodded, "It was a pretty stupid decision to come here, Elise." Elise sighed softly, "I know. I wanted to prove myself... That I didn't need to be adopted by anyone and that I could fend for myself. But at this point... I just wish I could go home. I don't care what happens to me now. I just want to go home." Tattletail nods, "That is the most not-Elise thing I've ever heard you say." Elise shrugs, "I'm not that Elise anymore." Tattletail frowns and looks at Elise. She had a sunken expression and just looked... So tired. He frowns even more and gently puts his hand on her shoulder. Elise shrugs, "It's fine." The lights in the hallways flickered back on as Elise said that. Elise blinked and looked at the lights, "Drippy must be gone. Didn't he knock out the lights when he appeared?" Tattletail nodded, "At least we don't have to worry about him for the time being."

As they said that, a tiny shadow moved across the room. It was in the shape of Drippy. He stopped to look at them and giggled, "Oh, you guys are so screwed now." Without another word he scurried off, not attempting to attack them. Elise frowned, "Was that...?" Tattletail frowns, "What happened to Inky?" Elise frowns, " He's the Ink Demon. He'll be ok, I hope... I'd rather not lose another companion." Tattletail nods sadly, "I wish Buddy was still here." Elise teared up and nodded, "I do too. But we'll do him proud. We'll get out of here, for Buddy." Tattletail nods sadly and frowns, "Well, whatever Drippy meant, we'd better be ready for it." Elise nodded grimly and made continued down the hallway. Now that it was brighter, she could see things better. The walls were covered in inky music notes and covered in creepy messages. A lot of them were cursing out Inky for betraying whoever the writer of these messages was. Elise frowned, "This is... Unsettling." Tattletail blinks, "If a bit justified." Elise looks around as she walks, "What's with all the music notes though?" Tattletail blinks, "Maybe that one music guy has been here?" Elise blinks, "Sammy? He died, remember?" Tattletail shrugs, "I mean, we did find his mask over by the bridge remember?" Elise shrugs, "It was probably a coincidence. You saw how violently Inky murdered the Projectionist and Susie. I doubt he'd extend Sammy any mercy either." Tattletail frowns, "Maybe someone else showed some mercy..." Elise shivered, "And revived him? Don't creep me out." Tattletail shrugged, "I'm pretty sure the ink can do that." Elise shivered, "Ugh... Stop freaking me out, Tattletail." Tattletail shrugged and looked around. The ceiling was dripping ink onto the floor, coating the floor in it. The further they got, the more the ink was flowing out of the ceiling. Before they knew it, they were walking through a river of ink. The ink was up to Elise's lower legs.

Elise twitched and shivered, muttering to herself. Tattletail frowned, "Elise?" The ink covered Elise's face and she looked at Tattletail. "Shut up Tattletail", she growled. Tattletail blinks and then rolls his eyes, "Oh great. Edgy you is back. I haven't seen you since you wanted to kill the Butcher Gang with freaking soup cans." Elise growled, "I don't wanna hear anything outta you. I'm tryin' to get to the reunion and you constantly quipping at me is NOT FREAKING HELPING." Tattletail raises an eyebrow, "Reunion?" Elise didn't respond, the ink covering more of her body. Tattletail frowns, "Ok, that's not good." He shakes Elise aggressively, "ELISE! SNAP OUT OF IT!!!" Elise growled in protest before coughing out a lot of ink and then proceeded to puke out almost a gallon of ink. Tattletail cringed and felt sick, "EW-!" Elise wiped her mouth, as the ink started receding to where it was, "Ugh... Oh... Oh, that was vile..." Tattletail frowns, "Dude are you ok?! First edgy you took over and now you're vomiting ink-" Elise chuckled, "No." Tattletail frowns, looking at her with a concerned look on his face. Elise grumbles, "I wish Inky was here. I don't the ink affects him like it does with me. He could've carried us." Tattletail frowns and worriedly puts his hand on her head, "You should rest." Elise shook her head, "Not now. Not while we're in ink and without any protection." Tattletail nodded sadly as Elise continued down the ink river.

They continued for another two hours before the ink seceded and they were on dry floorboards again. Elise sighed in relief and smiled, "We're out of that mess finally." Tattletail nodded and sighs softly. However, unbeknownst to the two of them, they weren't alone. They were being watched. As the two of them continued forward at a bit of a slower pace, they were unaware of the trouble they were about to receive.
