Dridoon

Introduction

Dridoon is pronounced Drih-dune. The term comes from the word 'Dragon'.

The Dridoon are a lizard-like species of familiar covered in smooth serpentine scales. They have long horns, spikes along their back, and a sharp spade at the end of their tail. Their neck and tail are long, while their large teeth and claws are sharp. They have fairly good noses and eyes, but are not the best.

Being a fairly communal species, Dridoon often are very easy to partner with and are one of the more friendly and loyal familiars. Often compared to dragons, these great lizards make powerful allies.

Height and Weight

Dridoon are on average a little smaller than giraffes in height at about 8-9 feet (about 20.3-22.8 cm) tall at the shoulders. However, they are quite a bit more hefty looking than the lanky ungulates, and despite that, they weigh much less, weighing anywhere from 500-1000 lbs (about 226.8-453.5 kg).

Body Structure

Despite being akin to dragons, Dridoon do not normally have wings. Their bones are however hollow like birds to account for their size and weight, however those that protrude out on their head are actually not that long. The spikes along their back and tail, as well as their horns outwardly, are actually keratin, the same as their claws, making them soft.

Teeth

Their teeth are not too long, but are very sharp. Like mini daggers, they are incredibly numerous and fill the jaw. Due to their size and shape, it shows that Dridoon are less of a hunter than other carnivores.

Feet

Their feet are akin to dinosaur feet. They have four toes on each foot, with a thumb parted away from the others. Despite them having a flexible wrist and thumb, they cannot grip things as well as people or even birds, and their talons are much better at simply attacking.

Alone
