Raifin

Introduction

Raifin is pronounced Rai-fin. The term comes from the word 'Raven'.

Raifin are the only familiar that naturally has wings. Covered in feathers, they appear to be more similar to birds of paradise, however are much simpler in appearance. Their large size makes up for this simplicity, however.

Being the most sociable of the familiars, Raifin have no problems getting along with their summoners and can complete many complex tasks. They have a great memory and are used mostly for support.

Height and Weight

Raifin are pretty large birds, ranging on average around the size of black and turkey vultures in height. At on average 2.5 feet (76.2 cm) tall at the shoulders, they only have a measly 3.5 feet wingspan, however. Much like birds though, they remain very light in weight, weighing only about 3 lbs (1.36 kg).

Body Structure

Raifin's bones are very light, and they have much more feathers on them than meat. Their heads are small and wings large, shaped in a way that provide both speed and high maneuverability.

Teeth

Unlike regular birds, Raifin have small teeth inside their beaks. Comparible to the teeth that catfish have, these teeth are not big enough to do much damage and more-so to keep the prey in the beak. While there is a considerable number of these teeth, they face backwards similarily to pythons but blend into the beak so are hard to spot. They do not line along the outer edge of the beak and are only scattered on the inside.

Feet

Raifin have three toes in front and one in the back. Their talons are short but sharp, and they have great strength and flexibility in their toes. Akin to those of large birds of prey, their toes can lock their grip and both open and close with great speed to catch things.

Alone
