New Aleutia

New ALeutia

A city marked by it’s cloud caressing buildings. In a trench marked by the clearing of skyscrapers lies a hangout and entertainment spot for cephalopods bent on playing ink battles.

  • “Aleutia” is based off the word Aleutian; It describes a trench off the coast of Alaska.
  • New Aleutia is based off New York/Times Square.
  • New Aleutia is forever nighttime to the player.
  • As a result, the city is nocturnal- playing battles and businesses open during the night, most are sleeping during the day.

Locations

“The Tribune”- A center stage where NPC events and splatfest performances are situated.

  • NPC events consist of photoshoots (dress up/pose photos), street art shows (extra public posts implemented into the cosmetics of the world), occasional marketplaces (with gear for cheaper/diff abilities).
  • NPC events will be triggered upon log on, and can be sorted through by exiting the game and reentering (except when theres a splatfest).
  • The Deep End places a light up truncated pyramid in The Tribune for performances, and can be seen on all sides from below.

“Tectonic Tower”- This giant skyscraper plastered with neon ads and glass windows serves as New Aleutia’s ‘Battling Lobby’, illuminated by spot and city lights.

  • Tectonic is a reference to tectonic plates, the geological process responsible for creating trenches.

“1800 Brineway”- A building stylized as a theatre meant for ‘local play’.

  • Based off the 1500 Broadway building.

“Surge Strip”- A strip comprised of all the hottest shops in the city, frequented by cephalopods who want ‘weapons’ and ‘gear’. Open late :)

  • Ammo Knights- The Staple Weapons shop
  • Viperslips- Shoe store (Run by a viperfish named x)
  • Sails 7th Ave- Clothes store (Run by a shark named x)
  • Archipel Prime- Hat store (Run by an angler fish named x)
  • Viperslips is mashup of ‘viperfish’ and slips, a slang word for shoes.
  • Sails 7th Ave is a reference to *Saks 5th Ave*
  • Archipel refers to “archipelago”; Prime refers to the head as being the main/top part of the body.

“Hotel Clamridge”- A hotel meant for guests wishing to soak up all the city has to offer. Inside you can interact with ‘amiibo’ (also cosmetic fun activity WIP).

  • A reference to Hotel Claridge, which occupied times square until 1972.

"Limestone Lounge” (placeholder maybe)- A place where of age cephalopods can grab a primarily alcoholic drink, tailored with secret ingredients that help out during ink battles.

  • Limestone references the rock found in deep sea environments
  • The lounge is tended by the Octoling bartender Buxton, who prefers his Octoling form over his humanoid form.
  • Buxton's first line to the player is asking to see their battling identification card.
  • Venus is a drink runner and up and coming bartender who also works at the lounge.
  • Occasionally out of the corner of the screen one might spot the shoes of the two Aleutian idols.

“Coastal Vision Skyscraper”- Home of New Aleutia’s iconic idols, rivaling the height of Tectonic Tower.

  • Looking up at the tower will trigger a hyper-zoom, in which sometimes Koniro and Seko can be slightly seen talking at one of the top balconies.
  • They will not wave down.
  • Coastal Vision can be entered by the player. Upon entering they are transported to the 100th floor- the reception area for the idol’s studio.
  • The manager of Coastal Vision Skyscraper (and subsequently TDE) is a jellyfish named Vittoria.

“The Deep End Studio”- Here on the 100th and top floor of Costal Vision sits the idols studio enshrouded with glass, with windows that frame their iconic and picturesque city skyline background.

  • Their studio sits behind a receptionist desk. The idols can be seen sitting at their couch chatting.
  • Here the player can interact with a radio kiosk to play OST music.
  • The idols will wave after the player approaches and stands near the sets of glass doors situated on either side of reception.
  • Idol greetings are the same regardless of species.
  • The idol’s standard greeting is a simple smile and wave.
  • Cephalopods may *sometimes* be met by a flirty animation from Koniro, with a general wave coupled with an eye roll and ‘peace sign’ hand gesture by Seko.
  • Cephalopods may also *sometimes* be met with smirk and ‘rock on’ hand gesture by Koniro and a ‘hang loose’ hand gesture from Seko.
  • Triggering of special responses is based on the player and RNG.

Stages

  • Basalt Construction Co. - A stage situated outside the city with it's main color palette consisting of cool grey's and neutral tones. The scaffolding on this stage moves at periodic intervals by cranes hoisting up the metal bars, allowing access to different areas of the map. The mounds and hills of gravel and it's ramps make this stage vary in it's horizontal structure, and is fenced around its perimeter. Huts and offices are cosmetics within the stage, along with cones, cranes, bulldozers, and shovels.

  •  Manila Museum of Art- A modern art museum that features old and new pieces alike, with special exhibits existing for local and/or upcoming artists. The stage has a very clean feel with its white walls plastered with art pieces, polished tile flooring, spotlights, glass cases, and sculptures. The stage is very flat and enclosed, with low ceilings and little changes in inclines except for a few ramps and staircases that have been placed to make the layout more interesting. The various top to floor walls allow for the implementation of stealth and surprise. This map is hated by charger and splatling mains alike.

  • Challenger Theatre- A rococo style theatre with intricate carvings and vintage drapery. Teams start on both sides of the theatre in front of the stage. Upon the start of the match the black velvet curtains are raised giving access to a large and intricate backstage playing field complete with scaffolding, grind rails, moving drapes, and stair cases. Props on this stage include vanities, costume racks, a variety of stage props, and boxes.

Splatfests

TDE hosts the news and stage introductions (20:00-06:00). Their show is meant for more adult audiences due to their use of expletives; however, they do not engage in anything obscene.

Sometimes when commentating tournaments, they plan ‘drunk commentary’ events which are usually sponsored by various liquor companies.

Their Splatfests are ranked only and cater to an older audience. Each set of stages and mode switches on the two hour mark for a total of four times, totaling eight hours, from 21:00 to 5:00. Results are based off of general popularity and win rate (solo/team) of each side on each mode (9 Categories).
