Anatomy headcanons

General headcanons

note: the term 'inklings' refers to both squidlings and octolings!

  • in terms of height, all squidlings are around the same height, averaging around 5'4" while male octolings average around 5'6", and female octolings average around 5'8". salmonling height varies greatly depending on species and genetics.
  • squidlings have rounder/ovular eyes, while octolings have more square/diamond shaped eyes.
  • squidlings have claws similar to cats, which can retract and are very sharp. octolings have dog-like claws, which are blunter and more suited for combat. salmonlings have claws similar to talons.
  • inklings produce ink from 'gills' at the back of the neck (hence why ink tanks connect there on their backs).
  • salmonlings produce a 'mucus' that imitates inkling ink, but is much more dense and sticky. it is produced by a gland at the base of their tail.
  • inklings can drink, bathe in, swim in, and submerge in water and be completely fine. they just cannot dive too deep (.60 ft), lest the pressure be too much for their bodies. salmonlings can dive much deeper (200 ft and more, but the deeper, the less comfortable).
  • inklings have three hearts, and bleed blue blood.

NSFW headcanons

  • squidlings and octolings both have tentadicks, and a 'nook' type bit below it (example). salmonlings have 'pricks', which are spiked along the head (example).
  • NO TIDDIES! NO NIPPLES!
