SECOND GENERATION OCTOLINGS

much later, after the octolings have spent quite some time on the surface, getting used to that life, a group of octoling scientists (most notably among them, maikoa) comes to the surface. they tell everyone about how, since octolings reproduce asexually, they need to create a lab here on the surface to collect cuttings and sustain the octarian race. an agency also forms around that lab, to seek foster parents for the newly grown octolings, born here on the surface, marking a new generation for the octarians, who have never known life underground, and are being raised within a family system.
