General headcanons

note: the term 'inklings' refers to both squidlings and octolings!

music is incredibly important to them! inklings are innately tuned into music and it has deep emotional effect on them (hence why music is capable of brainwashing and in turn, cancelling that effect).
octarian culture is matriarchal. female octolings are, on average, bigger, stronger, and more aggressive. male octolings are expected to be subservient, and to fill less hostile roles.
squidling culture is not so strict with gender roles. because squidling bodies hardly vary between sexes, ideas surrounding gender expression and identity are relaxed, and everyone is encouraged to explore who they are to the fullest.
