Breeding Information

Introduction to Breeding
So, you're looking to breed your Cuties? This guide should get you well on your way to that, in addition to teaching you how breeding in the world of Cuties functions! For starters, please ensure you own at minimum one to two of your own Cuties. While borrowing two Cuties from someone else is possible, it is relatively rare.

Finding a Pair (or Trio!)
To begin, please find a pair of Cuties you'd like to breed. These can be Cuties you own, or Cuties owned by someone else, who has voluntarily offered them for a breeding. They may require splitting the litter or taking a small fee for the usage of their Cutie.

Some community members may choose to "stud" their Cuties, meaning to offer them for breeding for free or a small fee. This will vary somewhat between community members and what Cuties are involved. We, in general, discourage high studding fees for Cutie breedings as there is a large random element involved.

Those that have polygamous groupings of Cuties may want to breed more than two Cuties together, and that's okay! We have a feature called fabric lending which allows a third Cutie to "lend" it's fabric and patterning to two other Cuties for a breeding. This introduces the Fabric Lender's colors, patterns and motifs into the breeding pool. For more in-depth information on Fabric Lending, what it can do, and it's limitations, please read the section below.

Fabric Lenders
If you would like to include a third Cutie in a breeding, whether for lore, aesthetics, or anything else, we have you covered! Fabric Lending Cuties can add colors, patterns, and motifs into the overall gene pool of Cuties. Fabric Lenders do not pass on any traits, except those that are universally Common, and cannot pass their base unless it is also Common.

Fabric Lenders are optional, and you may only have a maximum of one Fabric Lender per breeding.

Fabric Lenders do pass colors, themes, motifs, Universally Common traits and Commons Bases (Horse, Deer, Cat, Dog, etc.)

Fabric Lenders do not pass uncommon, rare, epic and legendary traits or bases.

Finding an Artist
So, you have the Cuties you want to breed all picked out! The next step is locating an artist to handle your breeding. Not all artist will take on breedings, and not every breeding artist is always open!

If you have a specific artist in mind that you would like to take your breeding, please locate their custom information page. These will include pricing in addition to slot availability. If it says they're open, you're good to go! Contact your artist with the parents you've picked out and proceed to the next step. If the specific artist you'd like to take your breeding is closed, you are welcome to politely contact them. Sometimes, if a breeding sparks enough interest, they may take it on regardless of their listed status. However, if they decline, respect their decision and do not push. You may have to wait until they announce slots have opened.

If you do not have a specific artist in mind for your breeding, that's okay! You can narrow down your options by looking through to see who has breeding slots open. If that's not getting you there, you can also post an advertisement with some of the breeding details (parents, desired themes, number of kids, etc) and see if any artist will reach out to you!

Using Items
Do you have breeding-specific items you'd like to use? These are things like Auto-passes, Kit Pickers and Odd Tokens. Before using an Auto-pass or Kit Picker, please make sure your artist is open to it! If you're using an item that you do not own, explicit permission is required.

Auto-pass
An Auto-pass is a rare item that lets you automatically pass a trait or species. There is not a set way to obtain these items. They rarely appear during events.

Kit Picker
A Kit Picker is a rare item that lets you bypass chance and directly choose how many Cuties you'd like to get through a breeding. There is not a set way to obtain these items. They rarely appear during events.

Odd Tokens
Odd Tokens are used to increase your chances of a desirable outcome. You may buy up to 15 Odd Tokens per week in the Cuties main thread, via the shop. Additional Odd Tokens may be bought in our Discord-exclusive store or from other users. One Odd Token effectively increases your chances of a trait or species passing by 1%. They may also be used to increase the number of children from the breeding.

You may use 15 Odd Tokens per trait, per parent. If both parents share the trait, you may use up to 30 Odd Tokens.
You may use 15 Odd Tokens per species/base.
You may use up to 20 Odd Tokens to increase kid count.

Filling out a Form
The required form for a breeding has been intentionally left out from this page. Breeding forms are only valid when posted on the Flight Rising Cuties thread. You may find the breeding form in this post

Once you have your Cuties (and optional Fabric Lender!) that you want to breed, all that's left to do is post! Permission to breed the Cuties, and use any Cuties that you do not own in the breeding, should be posted in the form of a screenshot that clearly shows the username of the person you're breeding with, and the explicit permission to use their Cutie(s).

If any items are being used in the breeding, such as autopasses or Odd Tokens, the owner of the item being used, and the amount, should be clearly listed. If the items being used do not belong to you, who is posting the form, another screenshot showing explicit permission must be included.

Optionally, you may include the images of the Cuties you're breeding! If the Cuties being used have Epic traits you don't know the name of, this can help make sure those traits are rolled for. This can also help the artist providing the breeding!

In addition, you are allowed to request specific themes, colors and motifs to be passed on. We treat Breeding very similarly to custom commissioning - while some artist freedom is always allowed, you are allowed to treat it as a commission and may request specific things. The extent of this does vary from artist to artist, so please make sure to ask and discuss requests with them!

If you're borrowing a Cutie for a breeding and the owner would like a kid in exchange, or if the artist is accepting full or partial payment in the form of a kid, please make note of it! This will guarantee you as many kids are there people involved in your breeding. This allows us to avoid any awkward situations where there's not enough Cuties to go around!

Rolling - Number of Kids
The way we roll the number of resulting Cuties from a breeding a pretty simple! We have two tables to roll on, depending on the base or species of both parents.

If your breeding contains at least one Rare or Below base in your two parents (Fabric Lender does not count), please consult the information below.

2 Children - 20% Chance
3 Children - 40% Chance
4 Children - 35% Chance
5 Children - 5% Chance

If your breeding contains two Cuties, both Bases Epic and above, (Fabric Lender does not count), please consult the information below.

1 Child - 40% Chance
2 Children - 30% Chance
3 Children - 10% Chance

Rolling - Base/Species
In Cuties, Species can also be called Base. Calling a Cat species Cutie "Cat Base" is correct both ways. Rolling for a base being passed depends on the rarity. Please check our Species Bestiary to know if any special rules apply to your breeding!

Species Rarity - Common, Uncommon or Rare
If both parent Cuties in your breedings have bases that fall under the above rarities, then you have no further steps to take! These bases are passed on artist discretion, allowing you to request a specific base, or for the artist handling your breeding to choose for you!

Species Rarity - Epic
Epic bases have to be rolled, meaning they don't always pass onto the children! While breeding two Epic Cuties together, the base will pass automatically. If they are of two different Epic bases, you may request a specific base, or allow the artist handling the breeding to choose for you. However, not every breeding falls under this!

The chances of an Epic base passing depends on what base the other parent has! The chances of passing an Epic base when breeding with a Rare or below Cutie is somewhat slim, while a breeding with a Legendary Cutie will have a much higher success rate.

Epic x Common/Uncommon/Rare = 20% Epic Base, 80% Common/Uncommon/Rare Base
Epic x Legendary = 70% Epic Base, 30% Legendary Base

Species Rarity - Legendary
Legendary Cuties are few and far between! The chances of passing Legendary bases is low, but they also allow all Epic to pass without rolling.

Legendary x Common/Uncommon/Rare =  10% Legendary Base, 90% Common/Uncommon/Rare Base
Legendary x Epic = 30% Legendary Base, 70% Epic Base

All breedings may make use of Odd Tokens, covered in the section "Using Items", regardless of Base.

Rolling - Traits
Traits are what make Cuties unique and fun! Traits are everything from horns, fur edits, wings and more! While each trait has it's own rarity depending what base or species it appears on, the odds for those traits passing remain the same.

Trait Rarity - Common, Uncommon or Rare
All traits that are rare and below pass at artist discretion! You may request specific traits to pass, or allow the artist to choose for you. If all traits in your breeding are rare or below, you have no further steps to take!

Trait Rarity - Epic
Epic traits require rolling, and as such have a chance to not pass! On Legendary base Cuties, Epic traits do not have to be rolled for.

Epic traits pass at a rate of 10% (20% if both parents possess the trait)

Trait Rarity - Legendary
Legendary traits are rolled for, regardless of the Bases in play. They have a very low rate of passing.

Legendary Traits pass at a rate of 5% (10% if both parents possess the trait)

All traits Epic and above can have Odd Tokens, covered in the section "Using Items", applied to boost their pass rate.

Breeding Rollers - Actual Numbers
This section is intended for use by our admins and breeding rollers, but it also helps keep our odds transparent! For all breedings, we use a randomizer to roll a number from 1 to 100. All rolled breedings should include the numbers rolled.
