Gaidinian Legends

The Main One

The Main God of Gaidinia - all Gaidinians believe in him. Even though no mortal has ever seen him and even the deities don't speak to him, every child in Gaidinia is taught that there is ancient magic running in the Deities veins, in their land that they all inhabit. But, where did all this magic come from? It most certainly didn't just appear out of thin air. Gaidinians, especially clergies and priests, believe that there is an ancient God, older than Gaidinia, older than time itself. The one Grand God that is behind everything in the world. He gave the land, he gave them water, he gave life and he gave soul, he gave mind and he gave speech. He is everything and everywhere. A father to all that exists, a God to all Gods.

Many believe he is resting in his chambers waiting for the next turning point of history. As it is commonly believed, he was the one who gave the starting impulse to Eiros and Zana to go and ally all the New Gods to fight and overpower the Old Gods, to create a new age. He is often referred to as the "God of all Gods" or also "Father to all Divinity" but the most common name he was given by the inhabitants of Gaidinia is the The Main One.

Nobody knows where his power lies and why the god himself decided to take care of Gaidinia by creating the deities and by creating life. He might be the one responsible for the existence of The Alternative Earth - The planet where Gaidinia can be found.

The legend of the Sea Witch and the Goddess of Wealth

The Sea witch, her real name is not known anymore, was known for her beauty, so much that even deities had their eyes on her. However, the witch was already in love with an ancient goddess of wealth, whose name was also forgotten over time. The witch promised to marry anyone who could give her "everything". The thing most people imagine are gemstones, gold, jewelry, estates, and so on... simply, everything you can buy with money. Only the goddess of wealth used her wit to solve this riddle and she said; "I can give you all the money that will ever exist" and created a new currency just and only for the Sea witch. Therefore, all the Sea Witch Bounties, that are used in Gaidinia today, all rightfully belong to the Sea witch and only to her. However, she doesn't desire their physical form. Right after the Sea witch accepted the gift, she and the goddess of wealth both disappeared into the Oldesea and they were never heard of ever again. The legend says, that if you throw a shiny SWB coin into the sea, you might get lucky and somewhere in the water, you will see the witch's hand catching the coin, taking what is rightfully hers.
Even though the Goddess of Wealth was one of the old gods, she was not present in the war - nobody knows where she is or if she's still alive. The new gods aren't trying to find her, nobody is.

Harmonia

Harmony, known as Harmonia, was a wolf. Her name was Ezma and even as a mortal, she was very popular among gods for her personality and cleverness. During the Great Rebellion, she offered her soul for the freedom of other wolves, and it was thanks to her popularity and humility that her sacrifice was accepted and she could join the old gods. Harmonia is depicted as a white wolf with two tails and purple eyes. She wore a pendant that looks like the universe - the wolf received it as her first sacrifice from her pack. It represents harmony between the gods and the wolves because they both chose her and thus keeps the faith in particular in balance. She is worshipped by most species - even nowadays, for her purity, courage, and kindness. Harmonia and her pendant are important in Kyanarrs history. She is also one of the old gods that didn't participate in the war, she disappeared and was replaced by Metla.

The Wolf's Omen Feast

The Wolf's Omen Feast is an important holiday in Gaidinia. Long before the new gods, a long and harsh winter tormented the island. Many died by freezing - the elders, the adults, and the children. None could hide from the cold. Many of the Gaidinian old gods are wolves from the sacred wolf pack and this happened even before that - when the pack was still mortal. One of them, the representative of an alpha, Viccaris, was able to end this long winter thanks to her great elemental power of fire and ice. This happened on the 15th of January. Viccaris was able to put all her power into an artifact - a very powerful Pendant of Omen, in case of a similar disaster.
From these old times, The Wolf's Omen Feast is celebrated every year in January.  Wolf totems are placed on the windows along with a candle - to let Viccaris know that Gaidinians still believe in her. Many Gaidinian towns and cities hold festivals in her honor and it's said that she might even appear in some of them - not in her old wolf form, but borrowing a Gaidinian body for a day.

The Glowing Trees

Those who have seen the November event page, have also seen the Glowing Trees. They are located in Glarhia, the eastern part of Gaidinia. So why are they glowing? It's an old legend. Most Gaidinians don't even know about it - unless they are from Glarhia or a nearby place. A creature, similar to a unicorn, was living there thousands of years ago. It was tall and majestic, one of the most beautiful creatures in Gaidinia. Many of the old gods wanted to own it to prove their greatness and to prove their power. But as beautiful as it was, the equine was also really proud and clever. It was able to protect itself from every god that wanted to tame it. The gods have decided that they have had enough - no being should resist the great gods! They went for a hunt, not to tame it but to kill it this time.
Oh, what a poor animal. Luckily for it, will-o'-the-wisps who lived in Glarhia were too nice to let it die, so they hid the creature behind the trees. The gods would be still able to find it, of course, that's why thousands or millions of will-o'-wisps merged themselves with the trees - to blind the gods and protect the creature. It's said that the equine is still living there, keeping its eyes on the glowing trees, talking with the faes that saved his life.

The legend of the Mother of Dragons

The legend says that she is the source of all dragon magic. It says that around the age of Darkness when dragons were ruling the inhabitable areas of the islands, the Old Gods grew hungry for their power. They were envious and wanted to consume their magic and use it for themselves. The dragons had no other choice but to hide, hide in the shadows, hide within the cracks of Skyer - the birthplace of all dragons. But it wasn't enough, one by one the Old Gods captured and murdered the dragons, any they could get their hands on. Absorbing their power.

So the dragons decided to do something with the situation. They chose one of them, a female dragon, to take on the heaviest of responsibilities towards her kind. Her name was forgotten with time, but her legacy persists to this day. She was given all the dragon magic, all the dragons were stored within her heart, and she became known as the Mother of Dragons. Now that all the magic was within her, Old Gods could capture any dragons they wanted but they would get nothing from them.

The dragons made the choice, they sacrificed their inner hearts and their power for the greater good of their kind, protecting the Mother of Dragons, protecting the magic till that day stored within themselves as well. Now they only borrow the magic from her, thanks to her blessing. And eventually, it was not only dragons the Mother of Dragons blessed. And that's how Gaidinian dragon hybrids came to be.

Jezero Dryád

The dryad lake is known for the mythological creatures living there. The nameless spirits resembling the greek nymphs are what gave the lake its name. They are generally known as "dryads" "dryády" or "nepheius" in Gaidinian, though they aren't the greek nymphs - the tree spirits and their water sisters are far from the shy creatures - they are usually envious and indecent, hateful of any lower blood - they are able to kill someone who is not a deity or a god. This is why most Gaidinian humanoid species avoid the lake. Kyanarrs are safe, though, thanks to the small part of their soul that belongs to the old Kyome deity.
If you see a nepheius, run.

The legend of Pustovník

Pustovník  is a tributary of the dryad lake. The old legend says that Pustovník  was once a god - unloved and unknown - he looked more like a man than a god. His power was weaker and weaker and one day, even the deity himself forgot what kind of god he is.
He was by the lake, unaware of the  nepheius living there until he saw one of them - a beautiful girl,  half-naked, half-dressed in the silk. Pustovník fell in love immediately, not taking his eyes off her, and the creature noticed that someone was watching her. His god aura was gone so she didn't  recognize him. To her, Pustovník was an immortal man, nothing more, nothing less. She was used to killing them, of course, and this was not a  different situation. The spirit swam closer to him, ready to do her usual work but the moment she cut his skin with her long and sharp claws, golden blood began to flow from his wound. Realizing what she had  done and what she would be punished for, she began to lament. She came  out of the lake and buried the body of a dead god and as she sat there  crying, her tears mixed with his blood created a new tributary flowing  in the direction from which he came.

The legend of the Sparkling Pond of Sheizin

As you can see in the preview picture which depicts the so-called sparkling pond, there is a legend about the sparkling pond that says that once a year when all the planets are in the right position there is a ray of light coming through the atmosphere and clouds touching the surface of this magical pond which makes it glow for about 3-5 hours. Gaidinians believe that if you drink from this pond during this time you will gain immortality. It is a very old legend that originated about 3,000 years ago and has been proven to be nothing but a fairytale multiple times, however, some Gaidinians still believe that people who tried to prove the sparkling pond does not sparkle or have magical properties simple didn't pick the right time of the year so the legend still lives on.

The legend of the Sheizin Guardian

An old legend says that once, there was a wanderer, a fallen Kyome, who had lost his dreamer and his purpose of life. Wandering thru endless fields of Sheizin he encountered its danger and wonders and fell in love with the place that reminded him of his dreamer just as much as of himself. The legend says that the Kyome cut his tail on the red grass fields of Sheizen and the hair of his tail grew into the soil and bound him with the land he admired. He wandered around these red fields, learning more about both the fauna and flora, discovering the secrets and mystery of the place.
After decades the Kyome became known as the Sheizin Guardian. And although he might have not be seen by every passenger, his presence is said to be omnipresent. The legend says that if you get lost on your way through these lands, he will join you on your journey to show you how to safely get back home. Just as if he was guarding souls lost in nightmares back to the waking world.

The legend of the Potion of Immortality

Some Gaidinians' believe that by using a feather of Strashlik, water from the sparkling pond, and Sheizin bee honey you can create a life potion that can bring fallen back to life (it is, of course, just a fairy tale, many Gaidinians tried to do so and all you get is watery honey with a feather in it). However, some Gaidinians still believe it's possible. Maybe there's one ingredient missing?

The legend of Neiyn

Neiyn's story starts around the time that the New Gods finally managed to overpower the Old Gods. During the Second Gaidinian War, the War Deity Vas decided that he wanted a higher position among the New Gods. Vas created War Kamuchiis who were ordered by him to suppress others and gain power for him. At the same time, Peace Kemuchiis were created to fight them and face Vas. Neiyn who wanted to protect his species decided to join the army. During one of the combats, he managed to get close to Vas. He wanted to slaughter Vas, however, other New Gods decided to take action - not only to protect Neiyn but also to protect the balance - if Vas was killed the whole world would be in imbalance. Nonetheless, Neiyn was praised for his bravery and he became the ever first Thalemimis deity. Later on, more Thalemimis became deities - namely Ina, Karas, and Ruvii. All of them take care of Gaidinian seas and other water bodies and are obeyed and praised by most Thalemimis.

The Legend of Púpava
A legend of one of the old gods, older than Eiros and Zana themselves. His name is unknown now, his story, however, is known to Gaidinians. He allegedly descended to the mortal world because he fell in love with a fisherman's daughter. The god was beautiful, majestic, perfect. His golden hair fluttered under the sun - all the jewels of the world could only feel the shame of injustice. His skin was as soft as a fabric sewn from the lightest material. His eyes deep as the unexplored oceans. He was simply nonpareil, he looked like no ordinary person. However, the fisherman's daughter was  already engaged to another boy. And she did love him, just as the boy loved her. It broke the god's heart - he would give her anything, he would do anything, just so the girl would love him. But she insisted on the wedding. She wanted no fame, she wanted no wealth, she didn't want the most beautiful boy that has walked on the planet, she only wanted love. The God, who lost all his charm and beauty because of the grief, stopped at an old willow tree. He cried and cried until he completely lost the color of his pretty blue eyes. They remained white, with no gloss and no life. He lost his hair color, too. He wanted to hate her, to loathe the girl, but he could not. He did love her without a doubt. He sat there for days, months and years. Maybe even centuries. She was long gone, even her children and the children of their children were gone. There was nothing left of her but a memory in his mind and this story. And the god? He turned into a flower, a dandelion. So radiant and dazzling until it changed and lost all its beauty. It turned white and gradually disappears completely. However, there was a turning point in his story. A flower was found by a certain someone. He did not tear her away, instead, he looked at the flower with love, a flower that already lost so much. The young man who appears at this stage was a prince. He was the only one in this world to see the beauty of something so damaged. He was the only one who gave his gentle touch and his smile to the plant. He built a small altar at that place - for a nameless and unknown god. He gave him love, he gave him his whole life. And although the prince never became a king, instead, he lived in this small and poor area so that he could look at what was left of the god. He did so every day - for that, his life was dedicated.
