Settlements & Territories

Three Settlements One Clan
Since the beginning of the settlement of the clan, the territory of the clan has always been so massive. So to occupy that large space there was a plan that was constructed. The clan would have 3 settlements. Each settlement would be assigned 2 Medicine Cats/Apprentices and one Deputy each. But what about leader gatherings? The roles of Messengers take care of that. When there are ceremonies, celebrations, and meetings, the Messengers are tasked to spread the word in each settlement to go to the Tree Of Gathers in the Cats Of The Ancient Root. Because there is only one clan there is no conflict if cats from other settlements visit one another.

Cats Of Dew Leaf - The Cats Of Dew Leaf live in the murkiest and wet place in the territory, usually living by a river that cuts through the territory. These cats are known to be excellent swimmers and enjoy catching fish in their day-to-day lives. These cats are also the most skillful in hunting for this very reason as well, with pride in their large food stocks and usually competing with other settlements during the "Festival Of Serpents Rest" in hunting the most prey. Their camps meeting place is a mossy large tree stump with their prey pile located just in front of the tree stump where a cool burrow is located, Cats Of Dew Leaf cats seem to be able to specialize in preserving their food better.

Cats Of Morning Rocks - The Cats Of Morning Rocks live in an abandoned twoleg tunnel. Their territory also consists of Healing Waters which is used by Elders and Warriors alike to rest their wounds and aches in warm steaming pools of water on the Cats Of Morning Rocks outside in the rocky territory. These cats usually specialize more in Medicine and Defense. They enjoy their large cave settlement that is filled with glittering crystals on the walls. Cats Of Morning Rocks also tend to live longer lives than any other settlements. Their camps meeting place is of a large jagged glitter crystal in the middle of their clan, their prey pile seems to be located in a twoleg minecart.

Cats Of The Ancient Root - What are the Cats Of The Ancient Root? They are a settlement that high ranking cats are most populated. Only the strongest and best Warriors, Medicine Cats, Apprentices, Queens, Etc.. Are allowed to be at the Cats Of The Ancient Root. They pride themselves in power and royalty, which is more than likely why it is the home for the Leader. The Cats Of The Ancient Root live in an abandoned oriental twoleg village, and their territory consists of a large mossy twoleg bridge that goes on a specific path. It is known as the Petrified Viper for it looks like a giant snake was moving through the clan's soil but rested and never woken again, it is usually used as a folktale told to kits. The leader's meeting place is in the branches of The Tree Of Gathers, climbing up and looking down at the clan. They also seem to have their prey pile located in a giant leafy nest near the leader's den.

Territories
Each settlement is unique in each of its' territories. Because of this, some cats tend to be more skillful in things than other cats. Examples being that The Cats Of Dew Leaf are more skillful at swimming because they have a water source or The Cats Of Morning Rocks are more skillful at healing because of the accessibility to other medicines. Here you can learn about the different types of territories and where you may want to live in. The only thing prevalent in the entire clan is the thick fog that is always covering it.

Cats Of Dew Leaf Territory - The Cats Of Dew Leaf live in the most humid part of the clan, there's always going to be moss, ivy, and murky soil wherever you look. They claim to have a dragon as well, but don't let that fool you, as the joking gesture is only a jab at their mostly sunken old mossy statue that lies in their territory, it is simply the "Moss Rock". There is also a massive river that cuts through the territory with no end called "The Howling Waters".

Cats Of Morning Rocks Territory - The Cats Of Morning Rocks live in a higher elevated rocky terrain than other settlements. In fact, they tend to boast about how 'large' their territory is. At least by height that is, they aren't exactly that large when it comes to how much land they actually have. The Cats Of Morning Rocks can climb their rocky terrain and when you do you will come by a warm steaming pool of water called the "Healing Waters" which Cats Of Morning Rocks claim to have healing properties that help energize their settlement. There is also the "Abandoned Twoleg Tunnels" which is a cave system dug out by twolegs and abandoned. There isn't any clue why this is but Cats Of Morning Rocks promptly made their homes in it.

Cats Of The Ancient Root Territory - The Cats Of The Ancient Root live in a complex abandoned oriental-styled twoleg town. Cats Of The Ancient Root are seen to be the most powerful cats of the territory, as it is also where the Leader and Deputy live alongside the Messengers. The cats live in abandoned twoleg dens that have amazing and complex twoleg markings on their walls. The only issue that the cats face is that when it rains the holes in the ceilings tend to let water in and there is no way to cover them up with moss. It is arguably one of the clearest and brightest areas of the clan. In the abandoned twoleg settlement, there is also an abandoned twoleg training pit (a dojo) in which a tree has grown in the middle of it. This tree is known as "The Tree Of Gathers", the reason is that this tree is used for meetings, ceremonies, and events for the clan. There is also an old den in the back of it in which where a cat is to sleep in it they would be visited by their ancestors. This is also how Medicine Cats do their work and how Leaders gain their 9 lives. Next, there is "The Petrified Viper" which is a large abandoned twoleg bridge that stretches throughout the territory until it gets to the clan's unique camp. It has since then accumulated an earthy tone from the moss and ivy that has taken over it. It is usually told in kit stories that the bridges were once a goliath snake that fell asleep in the territory and never woke up again.

Landmarks
Each settlement has a couple of landmarks that are unique to them. These landmarks are popular in stories or used as a resource for the cats of LanternClan. Sometimes, these landmarks are to signify what area of the clan you are in while others are used as gathering posts. Either way, LanternClan has tons of landmarks sprinkled in its foggy territory that it wouldn't be a surprise if future landmarks are discovered! For now, however, these are the landmarks in LanternClan.
Enormous thanks to KnownDino for these descriptions!!

The Cats Of Dew Leaf Landmarks
The Howling Waters - The Howling Waters cuts through almost the center of the territory. Its waters are crystal clear, thin, and calm near the beginning and center of the river, before turning into rushing waters. It becomes like rapids, and larger rocks are seemingly pounded into the deeper waters. Any cat who tries to swim in the lower parts of this muddy, algae-covered mess will be swept away, to a place no cat has ever been to.

The Moss Rock - This large, vaguely shaped dragon statue has decayed and been broken down over time. Its lower body was crushed down into the soil due to the storm. In its mouth, it holds a circle ball of stone. Its body is draped in moss and vines, making it look older than it actually is.

The Cats Of Morning Rocks Landmarks
Abandoned Twoleg Tunnels - The tunnels in the side of the mountain that runs deep into its core, built by the twolegs, are spacious and large. Sparkling crystals fill crevasses in the stone walls which shine even in the dim or even lightless passageways. The entrance to the tunnels that run so far and so vastly that even the most experienced cat could get lost in is merely wood. Some cats call it the Mouth of the Buried Viper, seeing the tunnels as the innards from a snake. Though, it isn't common throughout the settlements to hear that name when referring to the grown-over entrance.

Healing Waters - The warm, steamy pockets of water that latch onto the mountain when it flattens out in certain areas is a place no cat can resist. They're shallow at the edge, making it a perfect ring for cats to sit and talk. The center area is deeper, optimal for any cats who enjoy swimming and/or feeling the hot water surround their bodies. It is said that at one time, the springs of water had a powerful glowing flower in the center of each, which when wilted and was taken beneath the water, spread its magical relaxing and healing power to the water though this was never confirmed. Some cats even scour the bottom of the springs in search of petals.

The Cats Of The Ancient Root Landmarks
The Tree Of Gathers - The large, abandoned building built by twolegs that sprouts a large, old Black Pine in the center is know by every cat to be the Tree of Gathers. The walls are lined with vines and images made by twolegs long gone. The Black Pine that made itself home in the center has large branches which are often crooked but they also form a canopy that catches any water from the holes in the ceiling above. It seems to be the single thing holding the structure up. There's a den hidden within the roots of the tree. This is where the Medicine Cat, Leader, and other important cats speak with their ancestors in SpiritClan. No normal cat truly knows what lies beneath the roots, only that the higher ranks sometimes disappear into there to share tounges with each other and the ancestors.

The Petrified Viper - The various wooden bridges, pathways, and markers that run in various spots across the territory are known as the Petrified Viper. The wood is overgrown with moss and due to the fog, is usually a soggy feeling and it tends to be ever so slightly rotten. As the story goes, a large and terrifying snake slithered this stretch of the woods before one day falling asleep to never wake again. The dirt and grass and plants accumulated over parts of its body, hiding it and forming bridges and paths.
