POSSESSED LOCKETTES

While Lockette have a tough time existing alongside humans, the journey they must make to even become whole is not an easy one.
Lockette are not born like other creatures, their souls - known as Saura - manifest each year and are sealed away into a host body.
Not a living body, however, but one more like a doll or mannequin, they bring it life.

Typically Saura resemble a mammal somewhat, and are a glowing, ethereal presence that moves at a great speed.
Not always are these spirits warm and loving, sometimes they can bring about a certain evil. These Saura are unwanted, but lately they have been managing to make their way into the heartlands more and more. There are two different kinds of Possessed Lockette. The Inked and the Myst.

THE INKED

Sometimes these spirits will take on the form of a shadow, with a piercing glare and sharp fangs. They can be difficult to detect in the veil of the night, so will often try and sneak into unattended shells.

There is still huge debate over whether any complete Lockettes that have been possessed by these Saura - known as "The ink" - should be kept in captivity or even destroyed in entirety. It is only in the past century that these Lockette are allowed to wander freely, though the inked are still discriminated against heavily.

While they are not banished from the Heartlands, few inked will choose to live there willingly. Those who do tend to keep to underground clubs or live in in small inked communities, leaving only at night.

ink are often considered to be demons, as they are incredibly slow and silent compared to a usual Lockette. Their body isn't filled with a warm, glowing Saura. No, it is in stead filled with a cold, thick black 'ink' that can be seen leaking out from any gaps in their shell, including their moths and sometimes eyes. This gives them a more demonic appearance and causes their bodies to move much more slow and awkwardly.

While the inked are considered demons because of their appearance and mannerisms, they tend to keep to themselves and are generally well mannered. There are, however, others that are much more wicked. Often they take pleasure in simply scaring those around them, but some are much more physical. Thankfully, the reportings of these incidents within the Heartlands has decreased, but not so much in the rest of the world, as they are still much more bitter towards Humans.

THE MYST

Also commonly referred to as Poltergeists as they are considered to be the most malicious type of Saura, Myst Lockettes are much more difficult to initially discover than inked, but they are much more problematic.

The Saura itself is not actually any different to a typical Lockettes, but it is accompanied by something sinister. This dark force does not always take shape right away, and can weaken and strengthen in dominance depending on the willingness of the host Saura. A strong heart will typically restrain itself better than a weaker Lockette, which can become problematic if this evil force takes over the consciousness entirely.

A weak Myst spirit is a thick, dense spirit that is difficult to discern from a normal Lockettes Saura. Unless the host becomes fragmented it can be difficult to detect, however upon fragmentation this spirit will begin to leak visibly. A Myst is not a separate sentient being unless it takes on the form of frenzy or infestation. Even so, these spirits are troublesome. Problems commonly associated with Myst include violence, severe lapses in judgement, violent mood swings and narcissistic tendencies.

Lockette that share their body with Myst are not always evil them self, but this spirit can take over their consciousness causing them to act against their will. Weakened Myst Lockette once discovered are kept under close supervision, though many Lockette call for Banishment and Imprisonment to be mandatory.

The stronger Myst can take one of two forms, Frenzy and Infestation.

FRENZIED

Easier to identify than other Myst, Frenzied Lockette have a tendency for violence and murder. It is incredibly difficult to repress frenzy as it almost completely consumes the host.

Identifiable physically due to the possessed Saura bearing several sets of sharp teeth. These mouths are only heard by the host Lockette, driving them mad and helping to consume their consciousness.
Frenzy causes Lockettes to turn feral and possess a frenzied blood lust. Destructive and murderous, they will eat anything in sight to feel more powerful. This includes humans, though some will attempt to cannibalize Lockettes, despite the foul taste.

Frenzied lockette are normally imprisoned on sight. They are difficult to restrain due to their sheer strength and overwhelming psychosis.  Imprisoned Frenzied Lockette are commonly experimented on in a bid to find a cure.
Some methods include exorcism, torture, dissection or psychological testing. There is still no cure, but the Possessions can be contained by a strong willpower.

  INFESTED

Not as directly intimidating as frenzied Lockette, however infestation is actually considered far more dangerous.
The host Lockette may not even be aware that they are possessed at all, or will coexist willingly. Infested spirits will usually possess Lockettes when they are asleep or will completely consume their consciousness for a time.
They will even mimic their hosts personality and mannerisms as they want to avoid being caught.

Identifiable due to their physical mass containing dozens of eyes of varying sizes, working in unison. They will usually conceal their physical form well, though it is difficult to contain if the host body becomes fragmented.

Infestations primary goal is to seek power and luxury, causing mass corruption in doing so. Often influencing their host to seek a high-status position in society to better achieve this. They will use any means to achieve their desire, which is often one or more of the seven deadly sins.

They crave this to unhealthy levels, even putting their host body in direct harm to achieve this. It is rarer to find n infested Lockette that has not committed Mass Murder, however they are incredibly proficient in concealing this.

Infested Lockette are closely guarded, but not usually detained as they are often of high societal standing. Unlike Frenzy, Infestation can leave its own host shell in desperation in a bid to possess another Lockette. This consumes immense energy and will kill their previous host, as they become dependent.
