Static sounds, deep and rumbling. A few bursts, before silence.
The screen soon flickers to life, taking a moment or two to focus in on Caelum’s shining face.
“GREATER MIGNYAN POPULACE!-”
He falters, takes a moment to clear his throat.
“Ah- e- excuse me! I’m just… excited to be here. I feel like I’ve been reborn!”
“I- I am sure you all were concerned by the rather- um, ominous way I left off my last transmission. To tell you all the truth, I was… worried, that something would overcome me upon meeting her. Again that call to the void, maybe I’d want to.. rejoin her, or.. something. I don’t know. I couldn’t claim to know how she works, a- and I guess I still can’t, but-”
“Mignyan populace, she is fascinating. An absolute marvel of an organism. Surely if I weren’t what I am the sight of her would be akin to the cosmic horrors of books with authors long passed. Or.. incomprehensible, I suppose, is an easier way to say it, but that doesn’t exactly capture the majesty I encountered there.”
Another pause, for deep breath.
“...The Mother was located deep within a cave, with vents leading to the surface allowing for her launching of the cells. Lodged pulsing and alien in a crevice none could ever hope to fit through, essentially stopping it from accumulating more death. I assume the part I met, while as big as a house, was merely just the tip of the iceberg - instead of having an appendage stuck in the crevice, it was more like she had squeezed herself through, and now the majority of her body was lodged even deeper in the earth than I could ever hope to go. As if she had crawled up from the hot core of the planet, rather than descended from the cold recesses of space. It’s a wonder that she got stuck in here, and I can’t imagine what kind of ordeals she must have gone through to find herself in this situation, or for how long she had been there.”
“...Though I suppose she has no internal structures to protect, so there’s nothing stopping her from squeezing into whatever she wants. Like she were some kind of fluid, non-euclidian and made of flesh...”
“But I digress. I regret that I couldn’t bring back some sort of… photograph, or proof of her existence, but I wanted to prioritize my conversation with her and not collecting evidence. We all know she is out there, do we not?”
“...She spoke to me, Mignyan populace. In a way I am all too familiar with, but with words I was sure were just for me. Surprise, then recognition, then peace - it seems she is… my source, somehow, rather than our first we know ricochets through the stars. I cannot relay all she said to me, but I can say this: we as a species are thriving, and she is proud of the progress we all have come to make. Both in this month’s endeavor and all others, the invasion trudges along, not quite hindered by the ways of the worlds we settle down upon.”
“...Hah. I suppose it is a rather anticlimactic end to it all, hm? Or at least, if you leave it at this- but for those of you itching for a larger end, I have one more gift for you.”
Caelum glances offscreen, then down, typing frantically for a moment before casting his gaze back up towards the viewer. Whatever device you’re watching the broadcast on pings in response - a message from Caelum himself, containing… coordinates?
“There. The Mother, in all her graciousness, has allowed me to grant her safe haven to you. I trust that you all will stay reverent, and treat her with the respect that she deserves. I’d hate to think what would happen to you if you if you didn’t.”
“And, well.. I suppose I have no more to say, Mignyan populace. How time flies, hm?”
He smiles.
“Goodbye for now, everyone. I will see you around, that is a promise.”

…Well! It’s good to see our friend alive and well, at the very least. The scene he described with the Mothercrab sound so… haunting. And I suppose there’s nothing stopping you and your Mignyans from having a similar encounter if you really wanted to… At least she was nice to Caelum, so maybe it’d be worth venturing out? If the cave doesn’t do you in first… how did he get down there anyways?!
That aside, though, we have something pretty important to discuss now: it’s turn-in time!!!!!!!!

RULES
- Your account must be at least 3 months old and have some sort of history of posts to prove that you’re a real person and not a sockpuppet/burner account. We reserve the right to refuse to approve designs submitted by accounts with suspicious activity. If you do not use DeviantART much, you must have a link to other active socials on your page
- Mignyans made for this event default to common if you have no trait upgrades/scavenger traits! You do not have to use/have scavenged traits to submit anything, you just can’t go higher than common rarities without them :]
- It’s fine to take inspiration from copyrighted material, but we do not allow copyright material on the masterlist! If your Mignyan has, for example, a clothing item with a Pokeball on it, we will ask you to make an edit of the refsheet for the ML since we cannot upload your design otherwise.
- Likewise, designs inspired by preexisting media are fine, but we do not allow anything too similar to a preexisting character. If we find your design to be too similar to something that already exists, we will ask for edits! This includes fan characters for preexisting media, as it poses a copyright issue.
- DO NOT UPLOAD YOUR DESIGNS ANYWHERE UNTIL THEY ARE ON THE MASTERLIST! You will be pinged when your masterlist upload goes up - this is to prevent unapproved Mignyans floating around anywhere.

- Tiltify - You will receive a link to our Tiltify campaign for Florida Access Network. Your $15 donation must include your DeviantART username, and be paid before the end of the turnin period. We will be notified when you donate, so no need to give us a screenshot!
- Direct donation - You will receive a link to the Florida Access Network’s donation page. You must reply to your mod with a screenshot showing proof of your $15 donation (including the date it was made) before the end of the turnin period.
- Prompt participation - You have no extra steps to make once your design is approved!
Once your design is paid for, it will be uploaded to the Masterlist (@MIGNYAN-MASTERLIST) ASAP! Please be patient, as we will have a lot of designs to upload throughout the event! After that… yippee! You can upload your Mignyan wherever you like. Thank you for supporting the cause!
If your design is not approved, you will be notified of such and informed of what you could do to fix it. You will have the rest of the event (til October 31st at 11:59 PM EST) + 24 hours to make changes! Any designs not fixed before end time will not be approved.

“Augh, just- gimme a second here… different settings…”
“-Aha! Hello, Mignyan populace!”
“Apologies. I’ve never been the best with more modern technologies.”
“...I figured that, now that we’ve been working with each other for the bulk of this past month, I must drop my walls. Or at least, appear a bit more approachable… an ominous silhouette does nothing for being personable, and I’ve grown to… trust you all, as corny as that sounds.”
“And so, I suppose a formal introduction is in order. My name is Caelum Atticus Laurier, and I am, like I have said, a cartographer and astronomer set in my ways. I hail from… I believe the 1700s? So it’s safe to say I have been here for quite a while. Which is why the appearance of the second Mother fascinated me so - I had grown so used to the single, that the duo threw me into a frenzy.”
“And this is where I’d like to say that… I appreciate you all, for the work you’ve done and the enthusiasm by which you’ve pushed my cause. I know you had no reason to trust me, or my motives, so the trust I have been given is rather monumental. I tend to keep to myself with most of my work, so this has been a real eye-opener for me.”
“...Ahem. Pleasantries aside, though, I do have some updates. I’m not exactly the type to broadcast only to wax poetic about your achievements (though you do deserve it).”
“Through all the data you have gathered, and my own efforts, I’ve pieced together something fascinating. Somehow, some way, the Mothercrab has rooted herself into the planet! Those earthquakes weren’t from her signals hitting the ground at odd angles, or from the cells causing disturbances, it was genuinely from her own shifts in movement that pushed the plates around, a- as far as I can tell! And this is… revolutionary. I don’t quite know what to do with myself with this information, but the fact that any of us could potentially meet her has me thrown in a bit of a tizzy.”
He pauses a moment, shuffling in his seat. His gaze falls to the side, as if he’s about to admit something.
“...I think I’m going to go find her, Mignyan populace. I- I don’t have the entire path mapped out, but I have enough to do some process of elimination, and.. I think that will be good enough. I’m smart enough to keep myself out of danger.. I- I think.”
“I don’t know what will happen if and when I meet her, but… I feel like I absolutely have to, you know? I don’t know if this is some kind of l’appel du vide or something along those lines, but if.. if the void is calling I think I’m willing to meet it. I’ll- I’ll be making Mignyan history!... right?”
“...See you, my dear colleagues. I will report back, I promise.”

WEEK 4 PROMPT
At long last, we have something to show for all the ordering around our friend- Caelum- has been doing this month! Following this final discovery, we ask: what does your Mignyan think about this conclusion? Is it exciting to finally know the truth about our second Mother? Is it relieving to know they won't be pestered anymore? Do they feel their work is now done, or are they a bit unsettled by the cartographer going off on his own? I wonder if the more adventurous (or nosy) types may try to follow him...
This is the final required prompt! Completion of this prompt, assuming you have also completed the previous three, will earn you a free turn-in during the turn-in period. Thanks for sticking with us! :]

“Hello! Hello, greater Mignyan populace, come in!”
“Am I through-? Okay, thank goodness. I don’t mean to startle you all, but I have made some major progress in our search!”
“I’m sure we’ve all seen the news lately - and saw how my previous transmission cut out. Poor meteorologists with work cut out for them, capturing earthquakes the likes of which shouldn’t really be possible where we’re located. Thankfully there have been no deaths, but city power - including my own - has suffered from it from time to time. And it’s strange because, I don’t believe we’re on a fault line or anything of the sort, right? This area isn’t prone to quakes, so what’s causing the issue?”
“While I am not certain of the truth, and I have not reached one single conclusion as the possibilities are still open, I do have an idea of what could be going on. I recently met up with a non-Mignyan (Mother bless him..) colleague of mine from decades past, a seismologist seasoned in his field with more knowledge of the ground beneath our feet than I could ever claim to have. And in our brief connection, I realized that the pattern he had come to notice of the seismic activity coincides directly with recent transmissions I have received from our dear Mother! I thanked him for his observations and tried to act like none the wiser, but I couldn’t help but feel some sparks fly in the back of my mind - like gears long dead, finally charged up to turn but an inch.”
“Regardless of my uncertainty, I’m sure you all can see somewhere that I’m going with this, hypothesis being that the second Mother is causing these quakes. Whether she be planet side, or out in the cosmos like we know the first to be, something of her transmission is shaking our dear planet to its very core. I believe that if we study the direction these tremors are coming from, they will eventually lead us to her. Oh, I’m shaking in my boots just at the thought…”
“But- ahem, um, anyways- I do not believe I have anything more to go over. I just wanted to share this discovery, and issue that new directive for those that wish to follow. Keep an eye on the tremors, and an ear on the Mother - follow the two as far as you can, even if you have to drag yourself along the ground to do so.”

Well, according to Mr. Laurier, keep an eye out on the deeper locations. Some of the traits the Mother has granted us may be a bit more… rare, so to speak ;3 And if you missed out on any of the earlier staples, keep your eye out for something that could maybe help you catch up!
WEEK 3 PROMPT
Sounds like our friend Mr. Laurier is finally making some progress! ... Though said progress just invites even more wild speculation. We've already come this far, so for this week's prompt we'd like to see how your Mignyan tries to track the Mother's signal. Do they work logically, consulting experts and comparing data, or is this more of a 'go with your gut' investigation? Can they be bothered to comply with Laurier's directive at all? I wonder if anybody might put together a search party... that could be fun, if not useful!

“People of Mignyan, do you read?”
“Okay- I think I’m getting a little better at that..”
“It has been a week since my last transmission. I have been working tirelessly in my attempts to find our dear Mother - I’ve dedicated every little waking moment to finding signs of her presence, and every piece of the puzzle still not yet found I’ve just been itching to discover. I know we’re a long ways off, but the anticipation of said discovery has me more excited than anything I’ve ever accomplished.”
“That isn’t to say we don’t have any leads, however. Those strange little… well, I guess they’re stem cells… seem to be coming from a similar source. It’s a rather wide margin, obviously, as I don’t expect the mothercrab to be anything short of massive, but… they seem to all have a somewhat common trajectory, at least for their first landing. I don’t exactly know how to use this data yet, as extrapolating the Mother’s location from stem cell resting places alone will require more discovery (and quite frankly, a ton of math), but it’s at least something to work towards. Just another piece of the puzzle to help us find her.”
“Despite the amount of work we have left, I wanted to hop on here and mention how thankful I am for the people at large and their help. We have a long way to go, but we can do it together. I’m certain of it.”
“For now, Mignyan populace, I ask you to keep an eye on those cells. Watch where they fall, and make note of the angle they come in. As it stands, this is currently our best lead for finding her.”
“Stay alert, and- !!!!”
The Cartographer staggers on screen and looks behind him before his feed cuts out with a stuttered flicker. In the background, a sudden rumbling noise could be heard…
Geez, was that an earthquake?! Sure felt like one.. What is going on over there??
As was stated, the stem cells are still falling - this week we’re still seeing some classics around, though they may be a little less used as their staple counterparts from last week…
Additionally, it seems like that tremor shook them into some... slightly less convenient locations. Keep your eyestalks peeled!
WEEK 2 PROMPT
Well, things are sure becoming hectic fast! If you aren't careful you might get hit in the head by one of those stem cells. This week, we ask the question: What does your Mignyan think about the inclement weather, the falling hunks of meat and sudden earthquakes? Were they close enough to notice the earthquake? Does this feel like the world's ending, or just like a typical Tuesday afternoon? Some people love to play in the rain when it's storming, after all... do you think an umbrella works against meat, too?

“Testing… testing… 1.. 2.. 3.. is this thing on?”
“Oh- okay, I think I made it through. Damn technology…”
“Anyways… Greetings, Mignyan populace. I come to you not only as a wakeup call, but as a guide to your future as well. Long now have we known about the second Mother and her mysteries, and even longer have we known about the second wave as a whole - I would like to think we have come to know and accept each other as two halves of one important whole, but I digress. I am no ambassador for unity, and I have no intention to be as such. Though despite this fundamental truth about my role in this universe, I do hope that my quest here can help bring upon this kind of unified understanding.”
“I understand if all of this sounds a little… odd, not knowing who I am. And I apologize that I cannot provide that information to you all yet - I am generally a rather private man, and would prefer to not expose my identity to the world at large until I know that we are moving in the right direction. I will say that I am a heavily studious cartographer and astronomer, with goals highly beyond my single scope of reach. But despite that ambition I am just a man, looking to learn, and nothing more.”
“And today, people of Mignyan, I bring to you my journey - I am looking to find the second Mother. Long have we sensed her signals in our weary brains, and long have we wondered where she might be - is she near the first, or somewhere completely different? Are they two halves of a whole, spread far across space? Or is the cosmos not the right tree to bark up? It’s been haunting me since we learned of her presence, and while I do not know if finding her will… do anything, really, I feel as if I absolutely must know.”
“But - and this is the caveat I have had to come to learn - I cannot do it alone. I am just one man, and while I believe myself to be capable, I am not capable enough. This is why I am here speaking to you all, and this is where you, the people, come in.”
“I can take care of the complicated calculations, but I cannot do those calculations without information. I’ll need all hands on deck to be on the lookout for signs of the Mother, and as such we will need to greatly boost our numbers. Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to bolster your invasion efforts tenfold. Help the hostless into new brains, and inform them of my directive. The more Mignyans in capable hosts with knowledge of my plan, the more signs we can find, and we may just be able to work this little mystery out. We are a formidable species, and I believe we can do anything we set our stolen minds to.”

Well, that was weird. Who was that anyways? In any case, he seems to be pretty determined about this goal… if you want to help him out, here’s the lowdown on what’s going on:
- Each of you have been granted a chance to bring a new Mignyan into the world, no slot needed. Outside of the anniversary event, this functions as a normal Common turn-in and can be treated as such if you do not wish to participate in the bulk of the anniversary event.
- Each week, our mysterious Cartographer will deliver a new message, along with a new hint towards what trait upgrades are available to find in comments scattered around Mignyan related socials on both Deviantart and Toyhouse. You will essentially be scavenging for traits to add to your turnin!
- Traits will only be available for the week they’ve been released. The date they become defunct will be listed on the comment containing the trait.
- Rarity will increase over time, and as such they will be hidden in deeper locations.
- These will mostly be specific trait upgrades, such as vestigials or wings, rather than overall upgrades. There may be overall upgrades hidden around, but you’ll have to search pretty hard to find them…
- In order to claim an upgrade, reply to it! If found on Toyhouse, you will need to include your Deviantart username to claim properly. Toyhouse comments will contain a reminder of this
- Each trait can be claimed indefinitely by as many people as possible before the defunct date listed on the coment
- Once approved, event trait additions will not be marked as upgrades on the masterlist like typical upgrades do, and they will be able to be swapped out with redesigns as per usual traits.
- You will be able to apply pre-existing trait upgrades to these designs. These will be treated as they normally are on trait lists.
- When turn-in time comes, you’ll have two options of “payment” for getting your Mignyan approved:
- Typical $15 common slot price, will not raise with upgrades. All proceeds will be going to the Florida Access Network abortion fund as we want to use this as a chance to give back :] more details on this will be available once the turnin period starts!
- Completion of all four art prompts given alongside each loredrop will grant a free turnin approval.
- Turnin period will be from October 29th-31st. Any MYOs not sent in during this time period will be treated as normal and will require a slot. Event trait upgrades will expire at the end of the event, and cannot be used on outside MYOs
- Note: PLEASE be sure to send in WIP checks during the designing period! Designs that need to be edited during the approval period will have to be finished before the end of the period, otherwise you will miss your chance to turn it in

This week, it seems like some pretty classic traits have spawned in some pretty nearby locations… nothing too exceptional, though!
WEEK 1 PROMPT
How exciting to see a strange new face! Er, hear a strange new voice? With the appearance of this mysterious man also comes the basis of our first week's anniversary prompt: what does your Mignyan think about these lofty goals? Is there any merit to a faceless newcomer's research? Will they respond to the call to aid wandering hostless crabs? ... Did they even pay attention? Whatever their reaction is to this development, we’d like to see it!

Hello… It’s me again. I hope these messages aren’t getting too repetitive. At this point, you can expect something wacky is going on if it’s me sending these transmissions.
Lately I have been feeling pretty under the weather. But not like I’m catchin’ a cold or anything, more like, that thing I been feeling is coming, and it’s coming fast. Has anyone else been hearing a sort of ringing in their head? Like I’m not the only one right?
I’m starting to feel… An overwhelming dread at this point. I think we need to start preparing for the worst.

Hey everyone! It's Meat-kun (again, haha...)!!
Sorry if this comes out a little... confusing. I've been pretty confused myself lately, there's been a lot happening!
(Still kinda feel like I'm being watched, but... nothing's happened? I think I might need some decent sleep...)
Like, remember when I first told you all about the new second wave rumors going around? Like, with the traits and all?
I already mentioned that it wasn't just new crabs, but some of the first wave's devoted invaders as well...
But something's been kind of weird.
They've been getting a lot more common. A lot more common.
And not in the "typical Mignyan infection rate" way. It feels like I could reach into the ground and pull out a completely unique crab.
Normally, this'd be super exciting! It's always great to see more join the cause, and I personally enjoy showing new invaders the ropes.
But there's way too many to keep up with! Seriously! I feel like I'm being swamped on all sides.
Some of these guys have stuff on 'em I've never even seen before.
Like, we all know about the eyestalks and the shells, right? But... glitter? Scales?
I don't know whether they're unique cases or not. I know we've had unique cases, but these are so new that I really can't be sure...
I've got work today, so sorry for cutting this so short!

It's good to know I'm not the only one a little concerned about all the goings on lately... feels like everycrab in town has been talking about the new wave!
The answer to all this funny business feels like it's just over the horizon... I'm sure with all our brainpower, we'll get to the bottom of this in no time! Or at least, I hope we will... I'm so excited I could just explode!
