Supernaturals in society

The supernaturals are organised. They have a government, health care, education system, establishments and so on, that serve as an addition to the regular systems. Supernaturals have to be registered, which means they are being supported and protected, and that they agree to certain rules. One of them is that they have to remain hidden from the general public. Not being registred means being considered a fugitive, and you may end up being investigated by the police.
Unregistred supernaturals have to be reported to the Supernatural Registration Department who will guide them and help them adjust.

While the supernaturals form a close knit community, most of them blend into non-supernatural society. While some supernaturals are firmly embedded into the supernatural community and barely interact with non-supernaturals, others have made interactions with non-supernaturals a part of their daily lives. They may a job that has nothing to do with their special abilities, such as Raina's ex Nick, who is a teacher at a regular elementary school and only uses his magic to give after school lessons to child witches.
Among some supernaturals mixing too much with the non-supernaturals is frowned upon. This may be the case with vampires, who are bound to their clan, but also for supernaturals, living in small villages, where there is a lot of gossip and the fear for magic and monsters is kept alive.

Some supernaturals are not able to live in human society.
With some exeptions, faeries have little interest in humans. Most faeries live in the faerie world, which is a dimension near our own. There are several portals to the faerie world, which lead to various faerie countries. It is important for the supernaturals to maintain a good relationship with their neighboring faerie countries.
Giants and trolls are, generally, not fit for a life among humans. They are too large and depend too much upon their magic and superstrength to blend in. Most of them do better, living in area's that are far away, and preferably shielded from humans. They prefer living solitairily, or in small communities.
The supernaturals try to maintain a good relationship with them, also, but it's hard as they are not as well organised as the faeries.
