Lore FAQ

Questions about Fantochis themselves

Can Fantochis grow up?

They can’t age physically, but they can age mentally! If you asked them their age, they would likely reply with how long they have been operating.

Do Fantochis have feelings?

Absolutely! They’re supposed to be made as human as possible, after all! They can also feel pressure, temperature, stuff like that as well! This being said, they are immune to normal poison/alcohol, but can still taste alcohol and drink.

What kind of magic can Fantochi use?

Anything, really!

If Type C Fantochis are made from flesh, could someone who died then revived as a Fantochi remember part of their past?

Yes. The person isn't exactly revived, though, because their Fantochi self has both new and old material. Their memories still exist and the Fantochi can remember the scene/image/etc. but not the feeling experienced.

Do Fantochis need a master or can they be independent?

They can be perfectly independant! This being said, some of them have masters who look after them.

What happens to a Fantochi if it’s incomplete/rushed?

They won’t be able to operate. Fantochis need to be complete to be able to function.

What would happen to a Fantochi if you take them apart and rebuild them differently? What happens if you change some part of a Fantochi?

They likely won’t function as well. They have a perfect build, so changing anything would break the balance inside the body.
If you change the core gem, many other parts have to be changed. It is also impossible to use the same shell (body) when this happens. It is usually more time-consuming to polish the shell than to make a new one too. This means you cannot make the exact same Fantochi if you replace something.

What happens when a Fantochi is unstable?

They become unstable when the magic currents in their body are overwhelmed. When this happens, they go in overheat mode, become uncomfortable, then stop responding. The worst possible scenario is that they break apart if the core gem can’t take the overwhelming magic.

What’s the best way of taking down a Fantochi?

There are some devices that weaken/nullify Fantochis’ magic by disturbing the flow of magic in their body. However, Fantochis have two barriers (physical + magical) that prevent this kind of situation from happening. So, they can only be taken down by using some very complex magic, or by destroying their physical body.

Are they naturally subservient?

This entirely depends on the individual. Type Cs usually have an extreme reaction when waking up as they suddenly get hit by a surge of memories and voices, and everything seems wrong. Because of this, they’re likely to be aggressive and unpredictable. Type A/Bs’ reactions depend on their personality.

What kind of education do they have?

When Fantochis are first born, they have the mind of a child, but their body is already in its peak condition. Because of this, they’re fast learners and can get a hold of what humans need to learn for ages in a short period. Fantochis are rare and are scattered, this means they are usually self-educated or educated by their master/caretaker. This being said, it is still possible to find them in vocational training.
When it comes to mental development, it depends on their life experience. This means they can lack a bit of common sense about growing up.

Questions about their world

What kind of world do Fantochis normally live in?

They live in a magic world where alchemists are highly regarded in society and where science isn’t as developed as our science. Fantochi usually take jobs that involve magic & magecraft because of their potential, but they are free to take any type of job because of their lifespan. Their world is very diverse though, so there is also no restriction when it comes to fashion, they can wear anything!

Are Fantochis discriminated against?

No, in fact they are looked up to because they are considered to be one of alchemists’ greatest achievements. They live as a result of love and hard work, so humans want them to feel loved and give them human rights. There is also no discrimination between the types.

Are Fantochis considered precious for war?

Not really. Humans can also equip themselves with equipment/weapons, so they aren’t particularly precious for war.

Do they know the concept of religion?

In their world, the concept of god is very vague and there hasn’t been concrete proof about its existence. This being said, there is still religion but since magic is commonplace in their world, believers almost have to accept it as natural.
There are some secret organizations that have bad intentions though, hoho! They’re probably going to have a hard time, though.

Can an alchemist obsess with a Fantochi to the point of becoming one?

Absolutely, they can make the Fantochi then transfer their mind into one.
