Lore + brief intro

What is a Starnie? (Lore)

A Starnie is a star that became incarnate to grant the wish of a pure soul whose prayer was heard. The word itself means "Little star"

Starnies aren't always stars. Sometimes they can be shooting stars, satellites, or even airplanes! This is much rarer though.

Starnies must travel to earth (or the planet of the wishmaker) to grant the wish. A powerful Starnie can make the journey in no time at all, but a weaker one may take days, weeks, or even years before making it all the way to the right planet. The resolve and desperation of the wish determines the power of the Starnie.

Once a Starnie has granted the wish of their wishmaker, their bodies will dispel into fragments of light, and return to the sky with the other stars.

It's extremely rare for a single star to become a Starnie more than once. Similarly, a wishmaker typically isn't granted more than one Starnie in their lifetime.

Some characteristics

Starnies have the ability to shapeshift in order to blend into any surrounding. They can take human forms, humanoid forms, anthro forms, feral forms, and more! This is helpful because Starnie's try to keep their true identities hidden, even from their wishmaker.

Even in human disguise, Starnie eyes are usually vibrant and may even glow in the dark! Because of this, some Starnies won't venture out at night to avoid blowing their cover.

Starnies travel using a giant star shaped disc that can attatch to their backs or be ridden like a surf board. They can summon or dismiss the star at will. Starnies can also summon "Star pieces". The exact purpose of these pieces are unknown but they may be used offensively.

Starnie's tails are long and durable and can be used like a whip against their enemies. Once they learn "Star magic", The tip of their tails can also produce energy that can be used as a light source or as a super charged weapon.

"Star strands" are usually special strands of fur/hair that store Starnie's star power. They tend to give off a feint glow. Star strands can also take other shapes like horns, antlers, feathers, and more~

Most Starnies can choose to hide some or all of their traits by shifting.
