SETTING UP AS A MEMBER

If you're new here, welcome to the World! This section will help familiarize you with the layout.

If you plan to be active in events, we encourage you to sign up for a Treasury Account. A Treasury Account will allow you to collect Scales and Remnants, the first of which is the species currency. Make sure you remember your account number!

If you're interested in being notified for adopts, we have an Official Adopt Pinglist that you can subscribe to! Check it out here.

MYO Tickets
MYO Tickets can be won in events or bought using either the species currency or DeviantArt points in Terra's Tent.

During limited-time MYO events (for example, 48-hour MYO events), you must use your MYO before the clock runs out. However, if you receive your MYO from a different kind of event, it will not expire and will be sent to you in the form of a Character. We recommend uploading your design to this Character when you complete it, as it will already be in the World and contains your MYO proof.

Trait Sets
There are several trait sets for this species, so they need a little explaining.

We categorize our trait sets into "Major" and "Minor" trait sets. A good analogy for these would be a Barbie doll, where major trait sets are the doll, and minor trait sets are the clothes.

There are two major trait sets, Regular and Ancient. These two trait sets come from two different time periods in Shrimpshifter lore, which is why they can't be combined (two separate dolls)! Both major trait sets can be combined with any number of minor trait sets, just not with each other. The Regular trait set is the basic, modern-day Shrimpshifter, while the Ancient trait set are how Shifters looked in the past.

There are three minor trait sets, which are Deep Sea, Lovely, and Spooky. These need to be tacked on to a major trait set, and can be combined with each other as well!

The Deep Sea trait set is standard and always available in Terra's Tent (the main shop). It is based on characteristics of marine animals that live in the deep levels of the sea.

The Lovely and Spooky sets are event trait sets that change over time. They are based on myths and folklore, and add to the "special creatures" of the Shrimpshifter world. Lovely sets are based on "positive" creatures, and Spooky sets are based on "negative" creatures.

You may notice that the Lovely and Spooky trait sets have dates attached to them. The date is the year they were released. When the corresponding event rolls around again, there will be a new theme for the trait set. So, during that event, you'll get the new version (for example, in the 2022 Spooky event, you would receive the Siren version of the Spooky trait set, while MYOs from the 2023 Spooky event would receive a different theme version). Luckily, you can revisit any other year using a Time Capsule in Theodosius' Laboratory, and create a design from a past theme.

Learn About Items
Here are the collectible items for the species! You may see these floating around, especially during events. All Items can be sold to Archie in Archie's Antiques for Scales.

Scales
These are the species currency, and you can use them in all shops. They have a conversion rate of 1 Scale = 100 DeviantArt points.
Scales can be won during events, raffles, and as prizes for Art Contests. They may also be bought with points from Terra's Tent.
Scales are stored in the Scale Treasury.

Remnants
These are items that allow you to roll for Ancient Shrimpshifters. They can only be spent in Theodosius' Laboratory. They have a conversion rate of 1 Remnant = 1 Scale.
They are only obtainable from events, raffles, and as prizes.
Remnants are stored in the Remnant Treasury.

Shrimp Vouchers
These enable you to claim a free shrimp design that you can use on MYOs.
They are often offered as prizes in events, and can be bought from Terra's Tent.

Action Tokens
These are items for Roleplay. They allow you to buy Actions, which you can use to integrate RP with creative features!

Shops
We have three main shops in this World!

The first shop is Terra's Tent. This is the main shop, where you can buy MYOs, Scales, and Shrimp Vouchers.
If you buy something with DeviantArt Points, we consider it a donation to the species. The Points will go back to the species in some way, likely as prizes!

The second shop is Archie's Antiques, and this is the secondhand shop. You can resell any species item to Archie, including MYOs of any kind, Remnants, Shrimp Vouchers, and Action Tokens, even if you received it as part of an event. You will receive the item's base price in Scales.
You can also buy anything that another user has sold to Archie, and you will see in his Inventory what he has to offer. Stop by when you can to see if he has any items available.

The last shop is Theodosius' Laboratory. This is where you can create Ancient MYOs, which is done with Remnants. The process is detailed in the Ancient Trait Set Page.
You can also merge MYO Tickets here to create trait combos, or use a Time Capsule and change the date of an event trait set.

Getting Involved
Want to get involved with our community? Here's some ways to get to know the others!

Our Event Calendar details the big events that we host for the species. Events are bi-monthly, and this is the easiest way to gain MYOs and participate in the species! We also host Art Contests, which you can get Scales for participating in.

If you're interested in becoming a Guest Artist, you can apply at our Guest Artist application thread!

Once you have a Shrimpshifter, roleplay is a great way to interact with others and build lore for your characters! You're welcome to make up your own thread, or participate in any of our campaigns. Here is the main Roleplay hub.

You can also join our Discord server, which is discussed in the next section!

DISCORD SERVER

https://discord.gg/CsEW823XUR

Above is the link to our Discord server!

Our server is 13+ (as is this site, Discord, and this World). We do not permit explicit content.

When you join, make sure you introduce yourself in the #introductions channel so that we can give you the server member role. You will need to read the rules, and you can also set up self roles beforehand. There is more information in the server!

Participation in the Discord server is not required to be involved in the species. We don't host events here; it's just a way to get extra notifications and chat with staff and other community members!

Server Boosting

If you decide to boost the server, you will receive a Legendary MYO and 10 Remnants each month you boost us. You will also be able to participate in additional or exclusive raffles!

Boosting our server will also give you access to the #booster channel, which is a place where you can chat with other boosters and see sneak peeks for things we're working on.

We greatly appreciate your support!

FAQ

You can ask questions at our Questions and Concerns thread, or in our Discord server in the #help channel.

We also have a dedicated Treasury Questions and Concerns thread.

MYO & DESIGN

Q: How can I obtain an MYO?
A: MYOs are available in events and raffles. We hold events every two months (you can see our calendar here), but if you're wanting to get one right away, you can purchase a limited selection of MYOs in the Terra's Tent!

Q: Can someone else design my MYO?
A: Yes! Just make sure they are properly credited, and be sure to state the designer in your approval form.

Q: Where do I approve my Shrimpshifter?
A: Please fill out the form in the MYO and Design Review Thread!

Q: Am I required to use all of the trait sets in my MYO?
A: Nope! If your MYO has a trait set you don't want on it, you don't have to use it, and can design your MYO as if it were a plain MYO. If you have an Ancient Shifter, it still needs to be using the Ancient trait set.

Q: Am I required to use the rarity on my MYO?
A: Nope! You can design below your rarity. Just note that you will only be able to redesign it with the higher rarity later if you keep up with your proof/ticket. We recommend posting your design on your ticket (as opposed to uploading it as a separate character) for this reason.

Q: What are major and minor trait sets?
A: Major trait sets are the main sets you can receive MYOs for, and minor trait sets are add-ons. Think of a barbie doll, with the major set being the barbie, and the minor set being her clothes. You can only have one doll, but you can have multiple clothing pieces, and you can mix-n-match them.

Q: Can I remove the ticket on my design after I've used it?
A: Yep!

Q: Do I have to use Ancient traits on my Ancient MYO/do I have to use the mutation on my Ancient MYO?
A: You don't have to use a mutation on your Ancient MYO if you don't want to, but lore-wise, mutations go alongside an Ancient's design. If you have an Ancient MYO, it must be designed as an Ancient MYO (because it is technically a different species). You can always sell your Ancient MYO to Archie in Archie's Antiques, though!

DESIGN & TICKET OWNERSHIP

Q: I would like to let you know I've traded my Shrimpshifter, so where should I do that so that the Masterlist is updated?
A: Fill out the form in the Design Transfer Thread!

Q: Do I need to notify you of MYO Ticket transfers/trades?
A: Nope, we should be able to see valid MYO Tickets in the future just by looking at the uploaded Ticket, so we don't need a running list of active ones.

CURRENCY & BANKING

Q: Is there a world currency? / Why is there a world currency?
A: Yes! They are called Scales. We have this currency so that members without access to a real-world currency or DeviantArt points can purchase MYOs.

Q: What are “Scales?”
A: Scales is the in-world currency. The conversion is 1 Scale = 1 USD = 100 DeviantArt Points. You can obtain them through raffles, contests, and events, or you can purchase them in Terra's Tent.

Q: What are “Remnants?”
A: Remants are fossils that you can collect to create Shrimpshifters with the Ancient Trait Set. Your Remnant collection is stored in the Treasury. You can obtain them through scavenger hunt events and by randomly finding them within the World. If you see one, click on it!

Q: What are “Shrimp Vouchers?”
A: Shrimp Vouchers allow you to redeem a random shrimp design that can be attached to any unused MYO. These are helpful if you're not sure where to start when designing! You can obtain them through raffles, contests, and events.

Q: What are “Super Shrimp Vouchers?”
A: Super Shrimp Vouchers work the same as normal Shrimp Vouchers, but they allow you to view a batch of shrimp designs and pick your favourite! They are also obtained through raffles, contests, and events.

MISCELLANEOUS

Q: Is there a Discord server?
A: Yes! You can join it here: https://discord.gg/CsEW823XUR Make sure you're a member of the World!

Q: Where are the World rules?
A: You can find them on the front page of the World.

Q: Why can’t I comment on a thread?
A: You must be a member to comment on most threads in the World. You don’t need to have a Shifter to be a member!

More questions will be added when they become relevant!
