Clothing Style

Jake wears a variant of the standard Enlightened uniform, his particular outfit having more personalization due to his high rank. He typically wears a green sleeveless shirt and a black jacket with open shoulders and black shoulderpads on the inside. Both his shirts and his jackets always have a cutout in the back for his wings. He tends to wear elbow pads and fingerless gloves on both arms/hands, and he wears gray bandages around his waist and right bicep. His pants consist of a dark green colored lower layer with black belts around his hips and thighs, and a black studded leather protective layer along with outer side of his legs. Unlike most of his missionaries, Jake doesn't wear much metal armor since he wants less weighing him down during flight. His boots do have some light weight metal though; the boots are primarily black with silver armor guards that protect his toes, his heels, and most of the front of his feet and shins. The silver sections have cutouts with a green interior.

His accessories consist of the standard Enlightened tracking collar, silver earrings, and a black headband. He also sometimes keeps a black coil that connects to some of his guns slung over his shoulder when he's too lazy to take it off. It has some gray bandages wrapped around it, loops through the back of his jacket and belt loops, and usually hangs over his left shoulder.

Personality

Jake is a hot-headed and aggressive warrior of Daldrian Fey who now serves as a General of the Enlightened. Although he doesn't agree with the intent and mission of the Enlightened as a whole, he still carries out his missions relentlessly and never accepts defeat. He considers the Enlightened to be a sanctuary from his own people who so thoroughly rejected his alter, Randin, so he doesn't actually care about the morality of his actions and his assignments as long as Randin is provided a safe environment without persecution. Jake can often be difficult to get along with since he is short tempered, extremely stubborn, and incredibly unforgiving. Even when he's not actually being hostile or intentionally rude, his demeanor is very intense and he speaks incredibly bluntly to be understood more clearly since his preferred language is Dalindran and his accent is very strong. Those who know him on a personal level consider him to be sarcastic and snarky, but he has his own set of principles that he sticks to, so his consistency in his choices is very reliable. Jake prefers to act rather than deliberate for too long, but he is by no means rash or unintelligent and merely impatient and willing to take risks when needed. He also tends to have strong opinions that he's unwilling to compromise on, and there is scarcely a chance that anyone can talk him out of things or change his mind about anything, although he is capable of tolerating other things (while muttering how fucking stupid they are to his alter).

Around his alter, Randin, Jake is very gentle and tender with him due to how sensitive he is. Jake is the only person that can calm Randin when he begins having a panic attack, and he is very comforting and protective of his alter. He shows no aggression toward him and no matter how unreasonable or uncooperative Randin may be when he's in an overly stressed condition, he has all the patience in the world for him and would do anything to make him feel safe and calm. Jake can go from murderously aggressive with someone else to turning to Randin and immediately becoming quiet and soothing toward him, and then turning back to whoever he's angry at and punching them through seven walls. Jake will not tolerate anyone making his alter feel uncomfortable, and he will harshly call out anyone who complains about his unusual behavior or treats him like a child. Randin can sometimes come off as childish or naive since he has trouble speaking and is very sensitive, but Jake fully understands how intelligent, capable, and mature Randin really is, and he won't allow anyone to think less of or patronize him.

Backstory

Jake grew up in Daldrian Fey training under his father, Kyler, a respected warrior among the valley Twivas. His mother, Jinclair, died after childbirth, and as a result Randin's father, her alter Stavene, died also. The two were raised by the alter pair of Jake's father and Randin's mother, Meylu. Jake was very protective of his alter, who was teased and harassed by not only their peers but also the adults of the valley for his unusual behavior, and as a result Jake became very aggressive in the face of relentless prejudices. The night before Jake and Randin's 15th birthday, the dreaded Twilight of the Valley brought the mountain Ariac down on the village, and their remaining parents were killed in the attack. Although their friends, the Kalsel family, took them in, Jake feared for Randin's life after overhearing a plot to remove him from their village. Jake took Randin and fled from Daldrian Fey, but when village members pursued them out of concern he thought they were hunting them down, so the two left Dalindra and escaped into Daliarivon.

After traveling on their own for days, the two succumbed to exhaustion after Jake fended off a group of demons. Upon awakening, they found themselves captured and drafted by the Enlightened. Although still loyal to the teachings of Lord Dalia, Jake wasn't very resistant to drafting since he felt he'd be safer from the zealous Dalindrans he thought were pursuing them if they were in the Enlightened. Jake gained a high ranking in the T.Y.L. Faction as a missionary, and as a result he was unexpectedly and rapidly promoted to General rank after every T.Y.L. ranked higher than him was killed in numerous battles, Celarus accidents, and collateral weapon damage. Having little experience with leading and being only 16 at the time of promotion, Jake became very close to General Amando, who mentored him for years.

As the fiercest General of the present day Enlightened, Jake is well respected and feared by his subordinates and his fellow Generals. He continues to look after Randin while carrying out the will of Ketonae Demrile, praying that Lord Dalia will forgive his transgressions.
